Microsoft bids on Second Life

I thought SL slowly died, is it still played by many ??

having knowledge and game-play in both worlds - let me just say this :

they are absolutely nothing alike, other than the fact that they both have an "RCE". :wise:

second life is not a game, but a place for social interaction through avatars.

there is no 'worldly focus' in second life - everyone is on their own sim, doing their own things.

No red dots to focus on, no loot to be had .. everything is ran, built, and promoted by the players.

here in EU - we are all doing the same basic things, with the same basic goal -- LOOT !

I'm a much bigger fan of EU than I am of Second Life - but that's probably because I played EU first and know I will always play... even with the shit loot I get - lol

about second life 'slowly dying' - if you log on at any given point in time, there's guaranteed to be at least 50,000 people online. But .. they're allowed 'alt' accounts there - so I'd say it's really about half that, with half of them 'camping' to earn SL peds.

There have been rumours of Microsoft or Google bidding and/or buying SL for years, since it never happened, because it is all just made up, it won't happen this time yet again. Just saying.

rvolution

the combination of EU & SL would be the ultimate virtual reality :)

Yeah, I finally get to shoot furries!!

And no way this is ever going to happen, the sl morons can stay where they are ;-)

Off-Topic: I actually tried SL first but I just never saw the attraction, like I did in EU :).

On-Topic: No idea who is the buyers of FPC, but they better have a pretty good vision for Calypso, maintaining the planet's theme we all first fell in love with. He should also make himself known to us on this new official planetcalypsoforum, when he arrives.

When I first joined SL, there was a lot of hype on the raunchiness of its brand of social interaction. Few years later, people seemed to have gotten bored or the activity has cut down due to censorship? :D

But I greatly enjoyed the sandboxes and my personal First Land...build and design anything you can imagine :)

M$ bought Caligari and it's "gamespace" a little while ago... wonder if all of this is connected since that is tied to trueSpace, a 3d model making project (which is free download now - go get it while it's free - I paid for versions 3-5 many years ago, lol - http://www.caligari.com )... gamespace let you construct 3d stuff with partners in the same virtual environment... very second-lifeish I think.
