It has been quite some time since I last provided an update on how (in my opinion) you can best mine for enjoyment and profit.

Please understand that it is not only mining that is important, but also selling your resources.

For that reason, I would like to explain a little more, because those sales percentages are extremely important.

Here we go:

My mining gear is still the same as in my mining log, but I will repeat it here for those who are not familiar with it.

My equipment:

Finders:
F-101 T7 - F-102 T5 - F-103 T5 - F-104 T7 - F-105 T6 - F-106 T2
MD-10 T4 - MD-40 T4
TM 6
As I also started crafting finders :
Ziplex 5 - Ziplex 10 - Ziplex 15
Extractors: 3 x [Rookie Rock Ripper] - 1 x [Exhumer Mk1]
Refiner: [Transformer T-105]

No amps, pills, pets, etc ...

1 - Server
The server where you are going to mine is very important.
Choose a server after you have carefully analysed the auction for resources with a high %, best check LBML where most is located.
By high, I mean between 150-200%.

2 - Mining
Now you first do a number of runs to discover where you can find those high MU resources on that server.
Personally, I do this with all my finders to see which finder gives me the highest MU, because this can vary enormously, and not only because you have more decay per drop, sometimes lower finders give better results.

Some claim that there are waves/layers. In my experience, it depends on whether someone has mined just before you or not.
For example, I did a number of runs in quick succession where I got an incredible amount of growth. If I left more time (hours) between two runs, I got a completely different composition in my returns.

My guess is that after a claim/spot is empty, a new claim appears somewhere with a filler try to visualise this.
This claim/spot changes to a different resource after XX minutes/hours... You can test this yourself, and it's fun too.
Personally, I did this with terrudite (a long time ago). Mining the same spot immediately gave me 100% lyst, but when I waited 4 hours, I got 100% terrudite.

3 - The sale
Your profit/loss depends entirely on HOW YOU SELL.
It sounds unbelievable, but with a return of around 95% or less, you can still make a profit.
Here is an example of one server where I am going to mine (without spoilers ;))

8 different enmatters
lowest MU = 100% (growth) and highest MU = 160% AFTER sale, with the rest of the enmatters MU's of 125%-130%-110%-112-106% in between

AVERAGE TT 97.91% return and after sale 114.22%
For me, this is the basis for continuing to mine there and that my sales % is good.
But ONLY sell if you are sure that you can sell at that % in smaller stacks. For fillers, it is best to make different stacks of different sizes.

Usually, it is best to stack the higher MUs until they have reached your minimum percentage (stocking for events), and you can start selling the fillers or lower MUs in order to continue mining.

Now calculate what this can yield after sales:

1 run of 50 ped (100 drops) yields 57.11 ped = 7.11 ped NET
5 runs of 50 ped = 35.55 ped profit... which you can easily do in 1 day.

These are all averages with all costs/decays included, not counting mining boxes, fruits, stones or any other I get while mining.

Hope this helps some miners ;) and stop some whining miners

Great post. And noone talks about the skill gain either, which also counts as returns ;)

Skill gain is very slow when mining unamped

Getting around 0,01% up in surv/pros every 100 drops but I'm ok with that as I can mine everything I want.
