Hey all, I got an idea.

I was thinking. We should have Mission Broker (PC) system that allow players to create their own missions. It could work similar to Mannequins and Shopkeepers. Someone would simply place the Mission Broker Pad somewhere on their land and other players could go up to it to activate the mission.

To create a mission, the owner would wright out the mission dialogue, responses, options, and add in instructions like kill x number of a certain mob, find a mining claim worth x PED, go find my lost item... Pretty much the same stuff as other missions in EU. A reward could be added in for completion on the mission. There could be a storage system where stacks of resources or multiple items can be added and a set number of items would be given on completion of the mission requirements. Someone would be able to link several Mission Broker (PC) together to make longer story missions that involve talking to more than one broker per mission. Regular items placed on the ground by the owner of a specific LA could have an option to make it a mission item, where it can't be picked up but players would need to find it and click on it to get to the next part of the mission. You would be able to set if the mission is repeatable or if it's one time only. Also, you would be able to make the mission valid only while in a specific area. That way, mobs killed or claims found outside the owners LA won't count.

I think it could be a good fun way to add missions to the Entropia Universe and boost traffic in a LA in the same way player made events work. I always found that when games offer ways for players to create things like quests, the player created ones usually end up to be higher quality than the ones created by developers.

Anyways, what do you think? Anyone have any changes or follow up ideas? Would you complete player made quest? Would you like to add a Mission Broker (PC) to your LA?

Great Idea!

On a similar note, it would be cool to be able to set up mini events for teams, like highest single loot etc

Star Wars Galaxies (RIP *sniff*) had a similar mission broker system. And a lot of MMOs have their own "foundries" including: City of Heroes/Villians (RIP), Neverwinter Online, and the upcoming Everquest NEXT: Landmarks.

The idea is nice... but there is always room for abuse using the system.

This would be cool... you could also use it to set up a permanent buy order. Mission: Bring me item X, reward = ped.

Hey I never though of that but it could prove to be quite useful.

Maybe it could be changed to NPC (PC) where the NPC can be set to do several different tasks including handing out missions. I suppose one could even use them to advertise things the same way that pets were used.

Great idea. :yay:

The mission broker should however, always show how many rewards was left in the 'prize storage' (or whatever), so people working on the mission, would have an idea about whether they might actually get a prize or not.
And... I suppose it might open for a new type of scams: Promised prizes, and when people are about to collect, the prizes are picked up by 'friends' so none are left for the majority of people. Dunno it it'd be a problem. But needs to be thought through by MA.

The mission setup interface, would probably be a bit tricky to make simple and still usable. Lot of factors: Mobs, areas, resources, time, prizes, story, dialog options and responses, chains etc etc.
And it does need to be simple, or MA can't afford to implement it (or they would screw it up). :D

But I really hope it's possible, because it's such a great idea. (+rep)

I was thinking of a system where if there were no prizes left, the Mission Broker would say something like "Sorry I don't have anything to give you at the moment please come again later" until the owner adds more items to the mission broker.

The missions would probably need to be specific to the LA it was placed on.

Also there should be a time limit on missions. Lets say there are 10 items available for rewards. 1 per each completion. The 10 first people who activated the mission would be guaranteed an item on completion of the mission. But then nobody else would be able to. So to stop people from activating the mission and never completing it, the time limit would automatically abandon the mission and give someone else a chance at it.

I don't think it would be much easier to exploit than the regular EU missions. But safety features should be there to protect anyone who invests in such a system from possible exploits.
