FYI: My CND expierence

Hi all and welcome to my thread,

I started this day with a atrox hunt with almost 600 peds of ammo. Not a single global and only 2 or 3 times a 20 pedder. So I was down about 420 after the hunt and decided to start mining.
Bought 2x OA-105 and 2x OA-108 and all I got from it was about 396 ped TT findings and only 2 globals (of an OA-105). So after it was sold ofr 450 I was yet down another big chunk of my pedcard.

So after all this madness and such I didn't sit down on my ass whining like a little baby (like some people would) I was ready for my yet 2nd biggest mine-run on CND. (biggest was with 3x OA-108 and 4x OA-105 which wasnt all to much of an succes..).

I bought 4 Enmatter amplifiers 103 which cost me 126 ped a piece, also I had a amp left with 14 ped tt value.
I used my Ziplex Tix200 finder with a tt value of 83.29 ped
And ofcourse I had to buy probes, I bought 450 probes which is 225 ped.
Then the trip to CND cost me 25 ped and that makes a total of:

826.29 ped for this mine trip.

Skills before I started the trip:

All is sold for the total sum of: 438.02 ped

So I started with the total cost of: 826.29 ped
During the mining I had to repair my equipment 2.5 times or something which cost me: ~12 ped

748.86 ped op kaartje
Total costs: ~838

I sold everything to a reseller: 438.02 ped
the rest I got back a total sum of: 19 ped

Total made: ~457 ped

Total loss on purely this run: 838-457 = 381 ped

Skillgains:

Before:
Survey: 290
Drilling: 167
Ground Assessment: 323

After:
Survey: 492 (+202)
Drilling: 435 (+268)
Ground Assessment: 391 (+68)

So after this I find out that mining on CND can be a expensive gamble. After all most of the professions and activities in entropia are gambles. But I am wondering if I did something wrong that if I did it another way I would not find myself in such a downswing.
Should I not be mining on cnd with my skill level in surveying and should I stay on earth until I get a certain finder with a certain depth? Should I not be mining with amps on CND? Should I not be mining enmatter but ores with bigger amps? Please tell me what u think and also give some feedback on it so not just give me advice and say mine ores but also tell me why and if possible link me thru to an article thats backs it up.

Find a mining soc that can guide you away from this kind of madness.

I wouldn't bother going all the way back to Earth, but you may do better on Calypso. ;)
 
Big ore amps arent a good idea on cnd.. 101-103 are usually best. 108 may bring an ath but really odds are tiny to none. As for the enmatter . Try 5-10 amps and your luck may change. 4 amps is too few for a cnd run on most nights. but hey its all about luck right?
 
CND is not a great place for beginners. You probably should not be using that finder and amps either, without gaining a lot more skills first. Check the matter finders recommended skill level and average search depth (without the right skills you may be at 150m out of 550m possible depth for example).

I could give you more advice in game and I know many other people are willing to help out as well.
 
SKills are to low to see a good return no ?
 
Skills have nothing to do with tt returns, i would hazard a guess that your turnover was far too low to get a good % back on cnd

i made 5-10k runs on cnd whit 101 amps and always got bad return, i wouldnt sugest to go up whit less than that... u do gambling that way... but it can pay out sometim 1 in a mil :)
 
Another reason i will put off that trip to CND ...for a year!
