My mentor got rid of me

Ok, my mentor kept going on at me because he wanted me to deposit money into the game. When i got him in the first place and he first offered to be my mentor i told him i wouldn't but then he said it was ok.

So now he got sick of me not depositing because he got another Disciple who put money on straight away and then when i asked to meet him i was informed that he only had port atlantis and he had only joined the day before. I find this an incredibly silly thing to do if you have a huge opportunity to see if you like it or not for free but you put money into it without even starting to explore and even reach camp pheonix or anything. He then used his money to buy the best gun he could which is actually a waste of money because of lack of skills which i know through about a month of experience.

So today he decided to stop being my mentor after his constant nagging to deposit money. I have told him that if i get £10 or more for christmas i *MIGHT* put £5 on then but apparently that wasn't good enough for him.

So i am now wanting a new mentor. I am a good disciple so here's a bit about me and a mentor who would be good for me:

I'm from the uk so that would be good.
I'm 15 so maybe a mentor 20 or younger. (not really important in a virtual universe though which is 1 thing i like about it)
I am not planning to put great amounts of money into the game all the time but *MAYBE* some on my birthday or christmas or something.
I need someone who is good in all aspects of training and not just hunting like my last mentor was.
I have pixie chest armour, a pixie mask, that Sollomate gun, 101 sweat (which i'm planning to sell to someone on my contact list who always buys it off me) and 0.55ped.
I also have what i would condier lots of skill points in the hunting area and sweating aswell.

If anyone would like to be my mentor then please reply here.

Thanks,

Andrew.

if you have skilled to much, then yyou cannot be mentored anymore. i think weak pro stand is the highest you can have and still become a disciple.

anyways, good luck with your search. :)

ug another reason why i want MA to scrap the mentor system. You probably can't be officially mentored but i'll help. If you've got any questions feel free to PM me here or try and catch me on EF chat (click the chat link above) and we can maybe meet in game. I dont care if you don't deposit as long as you don't expect me to give you free stuff ;-) Lots of information of my almost 3 years of playing though is free so ask away.

ok, i'll probably go with rex but incase anyone has any more offers i consider lots to be 100-200 in my laser skill thing and about 20-70 in all the other hunting and sweating related things.

Aphro, as said you may be already too skilled to have a new mentor.

But fear not!! A mentor is not a requirment to getting anywhere in this game. I never had one, and I have more than 2k rifle now :)

A friendly attitude works wonders. And remember there are are many people here on EF (EF is the greatest mentor there ever was for those that have not had mentors)

As Rex has said, just ask away in here, or PM one of us should you have any questions, lots of helpful people in here :)

Aphro, you just need a good society and/or some good friends on your friend list. Most likely you cannot be mentored as skill is too high. But get Rex on your list. Free advice and good advice at that from a 3 year player is very handy. I've been playing nearly a year so know a bit about the game too. If you ever see me come up and chat and add me to your FL. Happy to chat or answer questions. And use this forum. Read all the sticky's. Try all the occupations hunt/mine/trade/craft and see which you like. Then specialise in one. As a non depositer it will be hard to spread yourself thin.

If you are looking for a society, the Moonlit Travellers will welcome you.

Our society focuses on sharing knowledge between members, so we can act as a surrogate mentor for you. Most of our members have dabbled in different aspects of the game, so we can give advice on hunting, mining, crafting, trading and some warnings about what mistakes to avoid if you are planning an event. :D

We have a mix of depositers and non-depositers, so there is no pressure for you to change your playing habits. The benefits of the society system are that you can leave a society whenever you want and join a new one, so you can keep switching societies until you find one you are comfortable with.

Also, to members I offer tp runs to all Eudoria tps and some Amethera ones. I am usually available for a tp run from about 19:00 (UK time) Mon-Fri (I am on more at weekends), though this week I will be busy from 20:30 to 21:30 each day.

If you are interested, send me a PM. ;)

Ok, i am gonna meet up with Rex some time in the future but i need a mentor who is in my timezone though or someone who could help me through chat when i'm stuck who is close to or in my timezone. Outside my timezone would even be ok.

I really don't know what to do now so...

if someone could meet me at north space base (it's a quiet and mostly lag free place) some time within the next 15 minutes then please do. I'm going to be there for the next 15 minutes so please go on even if it's just for that. I'll be there so teleport there.

Thanks.

I can understand the desire for only depositing disciples. I myself only accept depositing disciples as it is much easier and faster to teach someone who is willing to risk a little to learn. It is also a great sign of commitment.

That being said I do not agree with the dishonest policy of saying "deposits not necessary" then changing your story. I make it VERY clear up front I expect people to deposit.

Best of luck to you and I would be more than happy to answer the occasional question as well.

I would also like to add that Manifest Destiny Explorers is also accepting new members.

Sorry I couldn't make it, but I only saw your note an hour after you left it. :(
Congratulations on joining a society. I hope it works out for you. :)

I put in an application at one then they denied me for some reason so i found 3 and put in applications at them and waited to see which one would accept first and this one did and they've been helpful so far with:

Person 1: Hey guys, just got on.
Person 2: Hey Person 1, meet the new member - Andrew.
Person 1: Hey Andrew.
Person 2: He's looking for a mentor, any ideas?
...

and it goes on like that. And 1 person had an idea but that person couldn't do it. Some 13 year old offered through pm which was nice and that could work with someone so close to me in age.

You still not got a full set of pixie yet m8?
If you haven't I have a few parts you can have, sad I saw this after giving most of the stuff I had away...think I have some thigh and face guards left still.

Hey Aphro - only just spotted this thread. I hope all is going well in the new soc you've joined. If I ever see you in game I'll say hi and help any way I can.

Good Luck

I really don't see how depositing disciples are easier to teach. Maybe skill progress is faster, when people deposit, but skill progress is also apart from being easier to teach.

Teaching is mostly giving hints and answering questions and sharing some strategies.

And for all that, you don't need a mentor. Just read the boards and there is plenty to learn from there.

The one thing a mentor has, is a network. People that can help when you're stuck or when you want to buy / sell / loan something ( outside of the auction or boards ). That's where societies come in handy.

When you're in a soc, there is a much bigger chance there are people online, when you are. Much more choice than a single mentor ;)

good luck
