New Community Manager

Status
When u say u will leave ur ingame avatar skam behind, u are only going to play her in ur own private time or? Just curious :)

gratz on ur new position. FPC has renewed some faith from the community.

Thank you! No the Skam avatar (both ingame and on forum) won't be used any more, not in private time or in work. It'll just be Hanne Gulbrandsen, Community Manager. Ill miss Skam of course, but that's life.

I have a new, official ingame avatar that Ill run around with from time to time. I aim to be present in game as well, not only via forums and blogs. :)

Goodbye Skam, and welcome Hanne!

This is very interesting news. I didn't expect the new Community Manager to be someone so well known, and I'm really glad they chose someone who's been around a long time and is already a well-liked member of the community. Hanne is a great choice.

Though I don't know how long the "well-liked" tag will last now that she works for them :D

Grats Skam, I hope it goes well for you and I'm looking forward to seeing how you can improve things. And well done to FPC for making such a good choice.

Can you shed more light on what your responsibilities will be? Talking to us on the forums and via Gateway is obviously part of it. What about involvement in FPC/player partnerships like sponsored events? Will you be involved in dealing with support issues? For example, the current/recent Deer Mall controversy - would that be a good example of something a Community Manager would help to solve or mediate?

Heyo, and thanks! :)

I hope the Us Vs. Them mentality is something Ill help improve! I know its quite the task, but then again I'm not the kind to back down from a challenge either.

I'm sort of in the middle. -I'm working for FPC but I am also working for the community.
The flow of information has to go both ways; FPC need to know the community's position to situations, and needs someone who understands the mentality. The players need someone to give them a steady flow of information, and someone who'll listen and understand.

Basically, Ill be the someone both sides can consult about the other side's position.

Ill be picking up issues that I see the community have worries about and work to see it getting resolved or let you know what is going on, yes.
Feedback and forum posts from the community will be crucial for me to be able to do my work properly, so Ill be lurking around quite a lot. (But I won't be working in the support system directly.)

Regarding FPC sponsored events; I may or may not show up, such are not set in stone. But I've always had a personal interest in the player made events, and of course Id like to be there. Hopefully Ill have the time to :)

What I meant with the events was more wondering if you will be involved with the contact between event promoters and FPC in setting up sponsored events. For example when I was arranging the EUWBC tournament I had e-mail correspondence with a couple of people from FPC about sponsored prizes, promo banners etc. So what I was wondering was whether I'd be likely to be dealing with you in the future regarding these things.

Good to hear that you'll be involved at least in a show-up-and-cheer-from-the-sidelines capacity :D

Ok, here's one forum post, the vote seemed pretty conclusive. :)

Wonderful news!!!!

Good luck with the new job!!

RIP Skam,

Welcome Hanne... I hope you will do a good job here... Not that you are a bad choice. I am just worried that MA and FPC will turn you into something you are not...

On the other hand this is a great choice... please remain true to yourself, you know the community, I hope you have the balls to hit the table when MA are not listening to community concerns... I hope you can explain to them how a player thinks... and I hope that you will not forget what it's like to be a player !!!

You got great insight into the game, you know how the community thinks... you can give them a presentation right away... I so hope that this will work and that they don't shut you up and put you in a golden cage like they did with Maco.. and I hope that Marco will be able to take your feedback and do something sensible with it...

And since you are now responsible for communication, please ask them where their Financial reports for Q3, Q4 2009 and the whole year 2009 are :D

Good luck Hanne, all the best and just try to stay who you are ;) ( I hear they do terrible things to you in MA HQ if you don't do as they say... )

Why do you all congratulate her for?, she can't play EU anymore. I would be sad if i was forced to stop playing

You will get one month honeymoon, then the shit will start flying through the air from the players...;)
:D

And your username and logo are sorted now too ;)

Gratz Skam :) Have fun with putting up with us lot from the other side of the fence :silly2:

Nice move from FPC :D , i hope that will improve all colonits gameplay.

Good luck on your new job Hanne :)

Awesome, gratz to Skam!

This all sounds very nice and lovely.

But which part of the community will have a better communication ?

I mean which group?

I dont believe everyone will be heard. This game has so many players...

it is almost like a city , with many different social groups and complexe issues ...

Certainly we have ourself an appointed governator.

I am very very curous about what will happen next.

I really really feels like a colonist now, lez stop drink tea !

Gratz Skam! :yay:
Now tell them to give us the makeup masks back soon! :D
