Greetings Colonists,

As many of you will be aware, we have been working to overhaul many of the packages and offerings available through our webshop.

These new and modified packages will roll out in stages, with the first stage being the replacement of the Starter Packs. These are now available in the webshop.

What's Changed?

With our new Starter Packs, along with the upcoming Starter Kits, we had a few goals in mind for the redesign:

  1. To make the choice of pack simple and less confusing
  2. To keep the price points relatively low
  3. To keep the contents of the packs focused
  4. To make the stats of the equipment more impactful and more cost effective to use

Approximately, using the new starter pack guns are over 50% cheaper per hour of play in regards to rate of ammo and decay consumption in comparison to the old Z12 Barbarella (via increased DPP). This makes it better for new players - and a great option for low-deposit players alike.

We also opted to include a melee weapon in the Starter Packs as well, to give players the ability to work on both ranged and melee skills right away, for a much reduced cost per hour compared to TT or other options.

We also made other changes to the packs such as much increased armor durability, protection stats and the inclusion of a Vehicle Repair Tool in the upgrade pack to prevent the long standing issue of new players being left stranded with a broken vehicle.

Starter Packs vs Kits

In this update, we are releasing the new Starter Packs, but we will follow up with profession/theme specific kits.

We wanted to keep the Starter Packs streamlined, focused, and the price point low. To compensate for this, and to do proper justice to other areas of the game, we will introduce “mini packs” (or kits) at an even lower price point that allow for player agency when investing into a particular area.

These kits will focus on things such as MindForce, Taming, Mining etc. More information on those later this summer.

The New Starter Packs

So allow us to introduce you to the NEW Starter Packs. There are TWO packs now, with one being the first logical choice, and the second being an “upgrade” to the first, that provides distinctly better versions of the items:

However does this also mean that the current starter missions will get an overhaul, since if this armor is added there is not really any point in doing them?

Bukins rifle
CDF scout armor
Vivo-S10

All of these iconic starter items that you get from quest seems to be lot worse than the items you would get from the starter pack espicially so if you buy the 20$ one.

Further more, the Premuim armor from the new packs has a whopping 22 protection, and an unheard of economy on it, does this also mean that we will be seeing new armors for graduation and perhaps new mentor rewards?

Just wanted to share some insight of what I was thinking, this is great for anyone interestd in trying out the game. But there also need to be some possible upgrades.

Thanks!

Well.. I guess I still need to do a decay test on the weapon or Aid Pack to be sure? But I think it's a good thing I didn't pull out Mayhem Azuro, Adjusted because I had M tokens left and was debating whether to pull them out or not :)

I'm thinking that making free stuff same level removes incentive to buy.

Does the bot-pill stack with other pills like hyper and skill juice?

Amazing durability on that armor, it was 10k before. Is it supposed to be 20k durability now? It's amazing if you guys keep it at 20k durability as noobs will have less defense skills so this will in turn make it more eco for them to have the armor on.
Great job!
One thing I wonder though, I hear you can buy multiple starterpacks (not just 1 of each) and u can't recycle/tt or refine the extra stuff into UA or ped. Is this intentional?

This is actually great, only disappointing thing is that they took out the amp from the packs, but the packs are lovely, would love to know what are the damage range of the weapons be it normal or adjusted versions.

Maybe rename the $20 pack to "Adjusted Pack"?

Current name "Upgrade Pack" means to me it will upgrade the $10 pack items to their Adjusted versions. Or is that the case ?

It's not an upgrade. They are different products. I expected it wouldn't be an upgrade because there are the same items in the product composition.

You know it from me already - amongst the other 'changes' to come, please allow us to bank transfer to a shop account/wallet from which things from the shop can be bought as and when we wish.

So my 75$ adj harrier set is now half as good as the 20$ new set?
Fuck me I guess

Well at least you have the amp, which isn't available anymore and to be fair it is the most valuable part of the pack in my opinion, however on the pills aspect you can say "fuck me" since 20$ now give you 50 hours of 50% skill boost with auto loot, run speed and regeneration.

Personally when I started in october-november I did buy the gold pack and to this day I believe it's a really good purchase, but it is time to TT the harrier armor and get the new 20$ pack, will get it this weekend.

Hmmm, wait a bit :
The items from the new set have 0 PED value when TT'ed, which I think is a bug, because previous one could be TT'ed with its TT value paid back.
Or it's a scam for new players who buy it, and want to leave after 1 week.

Just like the old Starter Pack items that couldn't be sold in TT but were later changed to be sellable, I don't know if it's intentional or a mistake that the current Starter Pack items can't be sold, because MA makes so many mistakes with updates these days.

And here's a post that raises a similar question

I believe they "fixed" the old pack after a leaving player posted his inventory, where there were 17 Starter Packs, as he didn't know he could repair the vehicle.

But indeed, between bugs and weird decisions, not easy to guess. :)

the improvement of these packs is good, but it also highlights the need for a balance pass for a LOT of items already in the game.

I honestly thought the tiny UL car was a great idea, specially with ARIS and other places that are hard to navigate on foot for newbies. It would break quite fast anyway.

But oh well... ;(

Also wearing the cloak removes the torso armor. Bug or feaure ?

This is also a pity. The Harrier Assault Armor set from the old starter pack also did not allow the use of the cape or back decorations. I think it was probably intentional.

R.I.P. Zinkadus..... The better thing... mine was TT´ed when i was hacked... or maybe one "amplifier pack"?

When I read the explanation, I wondered why they were giving out unlimited vehicles, but that wasn't the case.:(
