Nostalgia thread: Once upon a time in Entropia......

-Once upon a time it was fun standing at the tarmac of PA helping newbies and helping official Guides and screw with them .

Love to read this thread and see how almost everyone who posts miss the old days in Entropia, when it was better and we had a better community spirit.. better feeling...

I wish MA could see this and turn the plane around before we reach the "Point of no return".....

When I thought a bone was very special....woof woof:lolup:

but if we would go back in time :scratch2: ... now take the vehicles away and i bet. ppl would miss the new things

even if i miss the old times ... some changes MA did was :yup:

Reminds me of a song;

"I remember when I was young and the world had just begun, I was happy oh yes I was."

Matt Taylor and Chain

I remember PE and all the great story line etc etc but I am still haven a great fun time, hope you all are to:)

once upon a time in Entropia the mining ATH of over 100K was outrageous and unfair.

Once upon a time in Entropia, redulite was used to craft OA-109 & was 650%

Wow this brings back alot of memories, how many remember changing songs on the jukebox at PA? Or staying underwater to long and drowning? There was also a museum at pa with a big levi long before the release of the actual mob. Have I been hear to long? :scratch2: There are so many good memories from back then and the game still has some sort of magic about it that keeps us logging on from day to day but its definately alot more painful to the pocket book compared to what it used to be :(

Once upon a time in Entropia -

You could fell the fear thru the screen :scared:
You could make a hostile marked takeover :pimp:
You could fall asleep with a finger on the keyboard
You could climb most mountains by walking backwards :naughty:
You could dream about Endoria when sleeping :shower:

Once upon a time...

...there where lag storms that swept you deep into hostile lands where you died and had to float as a ghost to the nearest revival.

...the key "T" let you teleport just a few meters if you got stuck somewhere and not all the way to revival as now.

...rubberbanding could keep you busy half the gaming session.

...the city you teleported to could be missing and no way to teleport or run out from it.

...half of the gaming session was transport (running) to the desired huntingspot. At start, and the long way back after each time you died.

...spiders did see you and came and eat you at the same moment they appeared at radar.

and still one couldn't resist to log in. It was, and is still a magic world. And still at least I can't resist to log in.

Once upon a time...

The Miwak TP was hovering in the air. If you fell off of it you got stuck. LOL

Once upon a time in Entropia, the Service Centers looked like badass sci-fi bunkers made out of -metal- that had been dropped from the sky and planted firmly on the ground.

These days in Entropia, the Service Centers looks like some kind of wooden whorehouses. (Not that I would know what they look like. :ahh: )

Once Upon a time in Entropia, Auctioneers and Technicians was not to be found deep, deep in the wilderness in some remote outpost consisting of before mentioned whorehouses. Rather, the further you went into the wilderness, the simpler and more rugged the outposts became.

Once upon a time, Entropia had a cosy Dystropian feeling to it. Today our rugged, scary, rusted sci-fi cyber-punk world is being turned into some kind of wannabe-oh-so-fancy luxury vacation resort. With monsters.

Anyone with me on these ones?

Totaly agree.

Im really really Emo when I read this thread, over and over again. I really want to know if its possible to buy Eudoria, at least the old PE and runing it on a server, only for the colors and the feelings. It depress me.

Forgive me if any of these are mentioned before, i didn't read the entire thread.
Once upon a time...

There were 3 (or 2?) imk III looted right after VU, all from hogglo and servers were shutdown immediatly.

Your only fear in PvP3 was meeting cK Angel.

I was scared shitless cause someone next to me TP'ed and I had never heard of a TP chip before.

I hit a 42k Hogglo and was number 6 ATH (it's probably almost out of the top 100 by now)

Everybody knew who Pham was and wondered when he would hit his next ATH.

DrDoom did not play yet ;)

Noobs were allowed to line up for the oil rig to take a turn for grabbing oil.
If any of them stepped out of line they were shot by ubers that guarded the line.

We saw the quick rise and even quicker demise of Bowles and Slayem.

People could autoskill non-stop on each other in the ring with TT pistol.

Back when I loved this game...

*It was much cheaper to play... 1500 PED for an ML35 or a DOA strikehammer, as an example.

*Loots were fun... looting real items, none of this (L) crap. My best loot was only 1300 PED in TT but contained ML35, strikehammer, and other various items (paladin armor pieces, marbers, etc).

*I knew what was going on. I'm lost now whenever I jump on from time to time.

*You knew EVERYONE in game. I also knew how scared I was of running into cK members in PVP while mining (thanks for the reminder bruud haha)

*Mining claims would come in awesome, giant veins (with little skinny poles to mark them).

EDIT: After reading some of these posts, I just realized how old I am in the world of PE. Back in '03-'04 the biggest loots were only a few hundred PEDs, and on RARE occassions around 1000 PED. Also, in pre-gold Mod FAPs were a dime a dozen haha.

Sigh, I miss you PROJECT ENTROPIA.

Once upon a time, Amethera was once a very nice place to be without all the LA`s.

Once upon a tiem it wasint shit.

Vehicles are surely nice and eveything but still... O_O

Once upon a time, it didn't take 23 minutes to extract a XII.
;)

Once upon a time Thorifoids had a temple that looked awesome. It was the place I loved the most and ever since Thorifoids became my favorite mob.

Once upon a time in entropia we had all the events like "Logs" "Egg" "Orbs"

Once upon a time in entropia we had Umbranoids

Once upon a time in entropia we could we could sweat trap a spider

Once upon a time in entropia we had to find the next revive by flying as a ghost

Once upon a time in entropia we had to run for days to find all the tp´s

Once upon a time in entropia we had the old PA that I miss quite a lot..

I'd love if a server was available for the 2005 era of Project Entropia (but with cryengine graphics of course haha)

Once upon a time in Entropia there were no Cornundacauda young. Due a bug youngs were also labelled as mature for a very long time.

Once upon a time in Entropia there was only one planet you could explore.

I miss a certain feeling which old PE did had, but I can't put my finger on what it was.

It wasn't necessary much cheaper to play, you could bust your ass back then too, people were complaining just as much about loot, miners were complaining about why the mining ATH is just 4k while hunting one is 25k, hunters were complaining that PED in loot is stupid since it has no markup, crafters were complaining that they can't sell most of their products (save for a few OF 105, a few excavators, karma killer and few clothes and that was it, period), half of hunters were complaining about trapped spiders while three quarters of hunters were trapping them (ye, math.. ^^), there were all kind of wild intrigues and rumours about whatnot, scamming was a daily problem, any visit in PA would mean guaranteed CTD, any 2 hours playtime meant mandatory restart 'coz of some cache problem, support was taking bazzilion time to answer and was sometimes the best comedy possible (sweetstuff anyone?), there was no objective measure of market prices save for two player-built initiatives (mytwopecs and the other one, I forgot), there was no entropedia, just what was gathered on forums, autoclicking was illegal and we had daily disputes on the matter, vehicles were a years-old unfulfilled promise, you could have your armour, gun, ammo, pedcard, mining tools, mining deposits and whatnot bugged quite often, mobs were some merciless hitters (and not solely because I was a newb), there were no visible stats on guns except max dmg and tt, no speed info on faps, depth was displayed wrong on finders, there was no skill-based progression in ores/finders, but in size of deposits, there wasn't the slightest faintest clue about any kind of quest, first revamp of crafting was an unfair calamity for crafters and I am not at the half of what was wrong in old PE.

But it had something. In my view, the difference is best underlined in a certain matter:

- any bloody useless piece of metal crap called for example EP-10 had its own personalized description, TT excavators and finders had a whole role-playing description, and this evolved to

- first imp korss 400(L) ever looted (if i remember correctly the gun) had the description "TODO"

Devs really payed attention to atmosphere back then. I am not talking about looks, because certain aspects of PE were graphically hideous. But to find in a secluded hut somewhere south of minopolis in a scene excelently built some skeleton with some sign reading "will dance for peds" or the old sign of fort fury which had something written on its back and can't remember what, or "die humanz" on umbranoid houses' walls were really bringing in a good touch. Or the mask from Scary Movie which was hidden at Jason Fort. Or the smiley face on ground. Or the danger signs at the edge of PVP areas. That I'd like to see more, instead of graphic revamp and more revamp and more revamp. A bit of personality, which now is very well present in Rocktropia for instance and Arkadia, but Calypso remained leagues behind from this pov. Also, that I remembered, can we PLEASE have back Genesis, EWE, Omegaton and Chikara, now that partners can design their own TT items? PLEASE?

That being said, I miss old PE, but as one who actually played that unfinished beta stage I have trust that new EU can be leagues ahead with a bit of attention and dedication.

YES!!! the small things might not be worth much too the devs.. but for the players it is.. calypso feels EMPTY! pls fix it ffs

Once upon a time I looked forward to an update not dreaded what it would take from me that I could do the day before.

agreed!

Once upon a time...It didnt take a supercomputer to run this freakin game!

lol that is sooooo true.

This game was excellent because it as a very strong community spirit, mabe the stronger I ever seen among load of mmog. Its probably because of it there is a little spark remaining today...

Inside PE it was possible to make real friends, with all the feelings due to a friendship, often international friends. Friendship can make some times before being strong enough to travel to another country, just because Eu was the link, the cement of this, just because during some years of our short life on this planet, whe had fun together under the same sky, this vanilla sky powered by game brio.

yup, I always did say it was the people that reall made the game, things didn't have to be fancy as we all have good imaginations. Shame a lot of these players have left now that the game changed so much and not for the better either.

Once Upon A Time In Entropia..........

....you didn't need hundreds of cans of paint to get something coloured

....the game system was easier to understand

....you could play 'bubble tag' with the concentration bubbles

....there were great unique areas to go and visit / sight see e.g. the cave, spiral mountain, strange statue on the top of a high mountain, super saturated psychedelic swirly ground area, rainbow fog, island not shown on the map that was miles away.

....you could drop single bottles of sweat/fruit/small items to use for decorating a room or put on a carpet to make a nice picnic.

.... you could sit/lie down on ur 'blanket' to have a picnic and not need to take a chair.

....you could play chess with single low cost items on the black and white floor of the auction rooms when it was quiet.

....there was a shop decorating competition...what happened to that? did it ever end?

....Avatars look like grown-ups

....Armour didn't make ur butt look massive

....armour shins and thighs could be worn to look like thigh boots.

....you could end up with so much adrenalin after a massive mob attack (Barneys/Faucervix with some crazy Delta Academy dudes in my case) or trying not to get killed whilst being the distracting runner for rig take over that you couldn't type because you were shaking so much (and had to log off for a calm down drink in my case after the Barney mob hunt!!)

....we had hope that after the cry engine update all our old beauty spots that we would do sight seeing tours to would be more beautiful and realistic instead of not there anymore.

....soc chat used to be funny where we would discuss a multitude of topics from real life and have a huge laugh.

....avatars could get close enough to cuddle and kiss (actually could morph together).

....we all had hopes that the door way leading under the sacrificial stone at the Thorifoid temple would be opened by putting some stones or gems in the backs of the satutes that surrounded it and lead to a whole underground Thorio area. I totally loved that place.

....New Oxford was totally pvp so getting to the shops under the Deer/galleries/houses was a daunting experience.

....the bridge at New Ox was totally black (probably what made the cost of black paint so expensive due to rarity as they had used most of it up on the bridge ;P)

....the cave under the deer at the side of the wee shanty town could only be accessed through a bugged part in the cave wall which you could walk through. Was totally dark and so you had to use swords and things to light it up and could only leave if u t'd out.

....glowing objects like swords/fists etc really gave off a lot of light.

....growth molecules glowed and animated like blue fire (loved that)

....we could stick things up on walls in and out of apartments and not need a sticky plate which made decorating much more creative and treasure hunts much more interesting.

....we had more fun.
