Hi All,

Like a lot of you I was whining about not being able to play... blah... blah...blah...

Anyways, I went and got myself an XFX HD 4890 like the sys req. said along with an antec true power 650 psu (VERY IMPORTANT AS POINTED OUT BY LAVA BELOW)...no I didn't upgrade my entire system ...

... and guess what?.. I am absolutely amazed. The boys & girls at MA has done an excellent job. From the dripping sweat on my back to the water sliding off the camera after a swim to the sunrays permiating through the water while snorkeling.
(Will post some videos for you to see what I mean)

Now, I know there are a few things that we all would like changed, like I would really like my global and Hof sounds back, all the other gameplay bugs and so on and so forth. But I think a lot of people are getting turned off by what is a problem with their cards (I know it was mine) not with the graphics in the system. For high end graphics like this you cant expect to play with an older card. We wanted a better looking game and they delivered.

Anyway, just here to say Thank you MA for all your hard work.

Good man, PSU is just as important as the video card when upgrading

Also the cause of many of the problems people are experiencing if not correctly suited.

CE2 drains a lot of power from the PSU via the video card since it is working a lot harder for CE2 than what it did with the old graphics engine.

The point is NOT all players are as lucky as u. IF MA only caters to players like u, MANY (if i'm proven wrong) will have to quit the game. Not many players have BIG FAT Peds like you ( i guess your lowest Ped card balance at any one time is no less than 10K) so MA has to balance their interests. Yes, they may have done the best in terms of what gfx can offer in the market NOW, but what is the point if it is not playable by the MAJORITY of players?

The implementation is more important at this stage. The beauty (eye candy) and WOW factors can wait. Sooner or later those advanced gfx card will drop in price and become mainstream and all of us can savor the good work (CE2) done by MA for the past 2 years.

Anyway, what i can say is that many outstanding issues have been fixed by MA over the past few days. For that, I'm happy and hopeful. I have not changed any hardware (since upgrading but before the new VU went online) but waited out for MA to resolved the bugs.

Sunny, it is pretty sweet. I actually played for a year or so with avatars and some items in grayscale (because of my outdated machine.) I couldn't even check my skills. I have no issue with playing using low/med settings. I can also attest to the fact that Sunny's ped card tends to get pretty low just like any of us.

It isnt luck and i cant see what his or anyones ped balance has to do with it, if everyone was poor does that mean we get stuck with crap graphics for ever? Im a gamer have been since Thermonuclear wargames on the commodore 64 were talking a long time here.

There comes a time when games have to move on and players have to move up. If gaming is what you enjoy then you save up like i do and update cards and power supplies, ram etc when you can to always have around what you need, If you dont you end up having a major outlay at some stage due to you being way behind the eight ball.

I have seen many screenshots of globals in the 2 years ive been playing and some of the graphics were woefull, i would say these are now the people with white avatars and stuttery gfx.

If you like tennis you get nice gear, if you play golf you get nice gear if you like cars you buy nice wheels and mods etc, same for gaming, if you buy components often and sell your old ones to mates you actually recoup some money but if you wait till it's to late it costs a stack more.

So in finishing it isnt your ped card or luck that gets you new gfx cards and upgrades its constant upgrades, if someones says they need to get a new video card and all they play is chess or poker online then offer to sell them yours and upgrade yourself.

But never call someone for having more money than you because they probably dont they just use the money they do have for gaming.

I dont disagree with what you are saying... except for the part wher it says more than 10k in my ped card ( I wish LMAO)..

If you think about it... most games now are getting more and more gfx hungry and like you pointed out.... things will become cheaper as days go by...

All Iam saying is... consider the developers point of view... instead of moving to a VU that would be obsolete in 6 months time (in terms of gfx) and would have to change again, it would be better to advance to something that would last atleast a few years. This also means that we wont have to wait for 3 days for a VU update every 3/6 months. I understand it's a big jump, but it is for the better (IMHO)

I just installed a new HD4850 512meg card and it plays at very high setting pretty well. The card cost $96.00USD shipped... Go out and collect some pop cans for a week or two and you can make that.

For some of us, fancy new graphics weren't even on the radar for the game. I personally didn't see anything wrong with the old graphics . I'm currently running in customized low setting and only crafting (therefor never leaving the auction center) and don't intend to spend any money upgrading my video card since it's more than adequate for the five other games I play.

What is irking me even more than having to run in such low graphics mode is the changes to the interface. Wish they'd paid more attention to what they were doing there ...

Where are people getting these numbers? Just pulling them out of thin air?

Dude, if the rest of your specs except your video card are sufficient, you can get a card that can run EU fine for ~$100. If you want to see the "Very High" settings, you can currently get a good video card for $180~$200.
Even if you need a system, I can go to ANY BTO (Build to order) site and get a FULLY tricked out system that could grind EU, Crysis, and any OTHER ultra-high end game into the dust for <$1k USD.
Or I could go to WalMart, or Costco, or Best Buy... etc etc, and buy a prebuilt system for $500, that can handle it just as easily.

I built my system TWO YEARS ago for $1k. With the exception of the video card, everything was up to specs for running this! I had to buy a new video card when mine burned out trying to run this VU (think it was mostly hardware issues, as others with the same card as I had are running it fine ). My same system I can build NOW for $400, or less...

I second this! And btw what is your other computer specs? My graphcard is a Ati Radeon HD 4850 1gb, and i got intel i7 920 at 2,67ghz with 3gig ram DDR3. I got about from 9fps-40fps depending on where I am, mostly its around 20-35 on very high settings and no anti analizing. So my question is how much fps more would I get just by gettning a new graphcard like the one you bought for instance? All replys are welcome.

I use fraps for filming,screenshot and checking FPS and it changes realtime so you can see where it lags and not very easy. If i go with medium settings I get about 90-100 fps but not on very high was wonder what I need to change to be able to have it 90-100 fps on Very high settings. Thanks for all replys

It's not like the req to play this on high/med are astronomically massive. Two 4770's could do this pretty well on the cheap.

if you have a older pc and a tiny bit of technical skills you could reuse alot of your old parts.
i reused my drives/case/monitor/keyboard/mouse and
a few months back i did this:

i got a new powersupply for about 70 euro
a new motherboard for about 80 euro
a intel dualcore e5200 for about 65 euro
4gb of ddr2 memory for about 50 euro
a budget ATI 4670 videocard 70 euro
total 335 euro

in the usa it could be done even cheaper.
i can currently run EU on high settings with a little bit of lag now and then.

i already did all the work for you at newegg.com and posted the results in a thread here on how to build a VU 10 able computer for under $450 USD. it comes in at 401.92 + shipping. *ENTIRE SYSTEM* if you can reuse any parts you have it will be less (example: HDD, CD-ROM, case)

maybe if some people here took the time to read threads where someone did the foot work rather then assuming and posting that a new system for EU is thousands of dollars. take some time to read some computer spec and do a little research......but like i said i already did it for ya.
