Hi
Just keen to explore where the PED sits. As you know 10PED is equal to 1USD. Which has been great for many years.

Now we are in an environment where the BRICS nations pulling away from the petrodollar, may impact the value of the USD also with the threat of the USD no longer being the reserve currency of the world.
Why query this? We all live in different countries with different currencies and have assets in EU and know that we can withdraw them in USD currently. The value of the USD maybe at risk, especially when the US has a debt of $35 Trillion which it can not ever pay off. The debt ceiling keeps being raised, but at some point the limit will be reached.

Question: Should MindArk consider buying gold and hold a reserve to support the PED value and unpeg from the USD?

Look forward to the debate.

Well, is there a more stable and reliable currency? if so just peg it to that?

USD maybe at risk but if it ever actually fails, it won't matter how your ped are backed because the whole western economy and infrastructure as we know it will go down. Your "backup gold" will be separated from you by thousands of miles of primal chaos.

Unless MA moves to China but last time I heard they are banned there :)

Having experienced a currency collapse at ground zero (Zimbabwe), the only things i would be concerned about is food that will store for an undisclosed period, and holding as much foreign currency as i can to counter black market exchange rate..
Ped value would be last of your worries in such a situation :).

Thanks, so now we know where to go to get food in that situation!

I must say that's very kind of you offering free food to us :D

The situation was quite insane, first week after crisis started was the inflation (prices on goods doubling each day). Hence food as first worry.

By week 2 black market exchange rate for hard currency ballooned from official 60 zim dolar to the GBP (£)..... to 5000 black market and upwards to insanity.

End of week 2 shops/supermarkets emptied as people came over from neighboring countries, exchanged hard currencies on black market, and bought up stock in Zim at huge discounts as panic for hard currency passed inflation. Supermarkets, wholesalers atc emptied within days.

Personally i bought artwork from recognised galleries ;), but was a crazy situation.

Do you even really play EU anymore though?

And toilet paper, as Covid proved.
I wonder if those people, who bought packs and packs of it, still have "stock" today...

Maybe MindArk should peg Gold Ingot to gold and leave PED pegged to USD :computer:

next crypto crap - shares in golden rain

The PED has been more stable than other currencies so far, could call it a stabelcoin I guess. But if the USD collapses PEDs would be the last thing to worry about, it's going to be bad. The processes you're describing with BRICKS and all it's just countries moving away from USD to their own currencies, but this will not cause the USD to collapse. US dept is huge sure, what matters here is the country's ability to service the dept, if they can make the payments then it doesn't really matter how big the number itself gets. There may be trouble somewhere in the future, but I doubt that a serious crash is going to happen anytime soon. And yes, if it happens, you'll need shelter, food and water, toilet paper, guns probably, videogames gonna be irrelevant.

The worries some people have... 😂😂😂

MA is prolly paying people to think, so maybe those thinking people are already thinking aboot that being a possibility one day. I wonder if the people that depo the most are Americans in general.

no, in fact, if anything a declining USD is good or at worst neutral for them. PED isn't actually USD...most PED is consumed. if anything, the bigger risk to them is a USD that is growing in value.

So I've been hearing this for 20+ years here on this forum...
