Great thread :)

Black Star Liner are my favourite band from Leeds in the late 90s, I must have seen them live about 10 times and they were always amazing. Looks like not much is available online and it's nowhere near the same experience as the mindblowing live experience, but here's a taste:

Vessels are a more recent favourite and friends of mine, again a band that are at their best live but the records are great too:

Back to the 60s for this one, Leeds lad Barry Ryan doing the original version of 'Eloise' - some of you may be more familiar with the version by the Damned that was a hit in the 80s:

Might post some more later :)

Thanks Oleg, some nice songs there and curious to what other acts came from Leeds.

Another great oldie from my home town Sheffield:

Heaven Seventeen: 'Temptation':

I used to play in a band called the Resplendents, and most of the other people from that band are now in a band called Sail Roads. This is them:

Sadly... this.

Sorry, we're not as cool as you Europeans down South.

Hometown: Columbia, SC

And, here is the moment of redemption in the career of Darius Rucker.

Keep 'em coming guys!

Waiting for London, Liverpool, Manchester, New York etc., etc., coz I know we have some EU players from those cities.

In the meantime...

Home Town: Sheffield

Pop Act: ABC

Song: The look of love

Arctic Monkeys were played pretty often last year, here, on a radio station (Radioguerilla) I was listening when driving in the evenings. They are pretty international.

PS: As we were talking, a local pop act of sorts started a concert on staton I was talking about.

The most successful Leeds band of recent years are the Kaiser Chiefs:

Pop act: Bob Mortimer

Song: Dizzy

Far from scraping the bottom of the barrel here! ;)

What about Mr Brown?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iYAt22mWiWc

i was going to post the golly wog song.

I would like to state that I only live in Middlesbrough now, I was born and raised in Stockton-on-Tees. I would like to disavow any knowledge of this Roy 'chubby' Brown character, and anything he stands for. The fact that my best mates dad was also a comedian should not lead you to believe that I ever saw, spoke too, or 'had a pint' with Mr Brown at any time.

Game over, you win :) unless someone from Manchester posts The Smiths.

I see you are a fan of miserable dreary indie rock! In that case Leeds can offer you the Wedding Present:

I see you are a fan of miserable dreary indie rock!

If you want miserable dreary indie rock from Leeds you cant beat Sisters of Mercy!
