Promoting Entropia to the cruise industry

Greetings Entropians!

I am headed out to vacation on a cruise boat at the end of the month and I am thinking of trying to promote Entropia while I am out at sea. I printed some Entropia shirts for Khorum Coast a few months back and I made some business cards which should be in the mail soon. I wanted to start a discussion, explain my reasoning and see what ya'll might have for feedback or suggestions.

Here is my reasoning:
Some people pay thousands of ped in real money just to get on boats like these and then sail to international waters for legalized gambling. Once on the boat some of them spend several days and thousands more ped to sit in chair and hit a button on a machine. Overall, these people are there just for the thrill to hopefully find something worthwhile or rare and get their blood pumping, much like some of us Entropians. Most of these people will have nothing to show for their efforts except money loss, they never built towards a future or created anything for themselves.

I think it is a worthwhile avenue to try and recruit some new players from here. I want to explain to them that EU has things which make us similar to gambling from an outside perspective but that we also have things built into our system which makes it different and helps protect the player. We have overall fixed return, markup, ways to play for free and a player based economy. Granted we do have good and badluck swings too but there is balancing.

Why do these people want to spend thousands of peds for a week and lose it all when they could spend 500 ped or less a month and create an avatar and future for themselves? They can log on and press "F" from home and get the same rush and excitement for far less real money.

Not sure what type of people go on cruises and what type of people actually play this game tbh, but often the learning curve is quite steep so offering mentoring etc would probably be a helpful way as well to guarantee you have people supporting new players, i think most new players stop playing because it's so much to take in.

Also I guess Khorum Coast is making enough to go on a cruise, must be doing pretty damn good.

I think it would be funny also unless they kick me off at a random port. As for the income after everything I spent on expenses, prizes, DNA and promotion I am sitting at around 9k peds profit since I purchased the land in March. Not where I was hoping to be at but there is always a learning curve and LA ownership is expensive. Getting on the boat is luckily insanely cheap if I book smart and don't drink/gamble myself. Wife and I booked for around 8k peds for the week each with food and entertainment included so it is actually really affordable of you do it right. I can't stay at a run down crack motel where I live for 7k peds a week and they wont even feed you.

I spend a few K to get on a cruise for a few days, maybe hit a few slots or other gambling to pass the time...
Just to do something mindless and get away from it all.


And then someone wants to point me to EU....something that is the complete opposite of "mindless".

Just out of respect I would not bother anyone on cruise with anything.... If I paid a few K to be there and you would come on to me with a "proposition" you might get really get a fist in your face for bothering me.

I think you misunderstood. My goal is to not outright approach people but to make myself approachable. If someone asks what I do with my life while I sit at a table I plan to let them know.

Ok, as an avid cruiser I can tell you that while the casinos are often filled on a cruise (during nights and sea days), the majority of people are not there to gamble. A lot of the time, smokers just hang out at the casino cause it's the only indoor place you can smoke. Most are on a cruise for the peace and tranquility of being at sea, the included 5-star dining, shows and of course the destinations and excursions. Seriously, the casino is NOT the draw and people that do gamble there aren't all gamble-holics looking for anywhere to get some action.

You also get a lot of retired folk on cruises where honestly "vidya games" are not in their top list of activities. lol

On another note, I hate how advertising this game is always described as "recruiting some new players"... like it's some kind of cult or MLM scam where it's up to the players to "recruit" friends and family for new money going into the system. It's disgusting.

I really hope this changes and Unreal puts us on a path where this game actually break away from that stigma.

Well I always try to find a way to work EU into almost anything if I can. Chances are I will just walk around with promotional attire and hope it catches someone's eye. If even 1 player decides to look the game up I am happy. +1 is always better than 0 and not trying or getting the brand out there.

I would consider it a joke, not so many jokes around here any more, it all seems deadly serious these days.

Those days are gone. Some of us are still around and we share our tales of 'Remember when.....' but not here.

I digress, good luck with your cruise. Try not to think about Entropia the whole time or you are missing out.

I understand your effort to trying to promote the game , but honestly it wont work even if you bring a latop running the game and having veery person try the game the issue isn’t necessarily promoting or bringing in new people , the problem lies in retention. Even if you bring 10000 players and only 10 stay because of lack of guidance or support its no point of promoting, the reality is this game is unforgiving especially to new players , with no guidance or support they wont stay and im saying this not based on speculation, i see it on my stream , new players joining my group events telling me nobody has tried helping them besides maybe one or two players, or found a community that guides them through the new things , im not saying there isnt helpful players or groups but the issue is we focus on brining new players but we should focus on helping the ones already in here, MA has their own “ADS” online but i have yet to see a MA official actually be at PA and walk or drive players to camp icarus, maybe theyre not allowed or busy with other things but the issue is still retention

I totally agree player retention is a huge issue. When I recruit players I make sure they know how to contact me in game, Facebook and on Discord with any issues and I try to guide them to the more helpful game channels such as #Toulan and #Arkadia.

Edit- I also produce a video series explaining things to new players. Feel free to share it.

However, I will not ever be discouraged if even 10 out of 1000 stick around from my efforts. That is still 10 extra players enjoying our game and doing their part to make sure everyone's investments don't turn to ashes.

My goal is to find some areas of the casino and play a few hands or cheap games. Sometimes people ask questions and I want to answer. I do not intend to go up to people on their vacation and harass them. I just want them to know I am approachable and our universe could change their lives.
