Promoting Entropia to the cruise industry

Well I always try to find a way to work EU into almost anything if I can. Chances are I will just walk around with promotional attire and hope it catches someone's eye. If even 1 player decides to look the game up I am happy. +1 is always better than 0 and not trying or getting the brand out there.
why would people in a casino be interested in a game that is not a casino- oh right this is a casino

i would never waste my vacation time promoting EU just because i have a LA - do you have noob friendly mobs on your LA as they will be noobs?

maybe you get 1 0r 2 to try EU out of 1,000 but since most will quit your wasting your time imo.

but not to be just negative i would put something on the shirt that says "spend you next vacation at Khoram Cost" have a nice graphic and put "just ask me how to get there" at the bottom

i'll take 100 ped commission per new player :)

gl with it

Since you enjoy making t-shirts so much, what about this idea, make one that says: "Ask me how I paid for this cruise".
yea cause that is not for like maybe .05% of the player base only

Greetings Entropians!

I am headed out to vacation on a cruise boat at the end of the month and I am thinking of trying to promote Entropia while I am out at sea. I printed some Entropia shirts for Khorum Coast a few months back and I made some business cards which should be in the mail soon. I wanted to start a discussion, explain my reasoning and see what ya'll might have for feedback or suggestions.

Here is my reasoning:
Some people pay thousands of ped in real money just to get on boats like these and then sail to international waters for legalized gambling. Once on the boat some of them spend several days and thousands more ped to sit in chair and hit a button on a machine. Overall, these people are there just for the thrill to hopefully find something worthwhile or rare and get their blood pumping, much like some of us Entropians. Most of these people will have nothing to show for their efforts except money loss, they never built towards a future or created anything for themselves.

I think it is a worthwhile avenue to try and recruit some new players from here. I want to explain to them that EU has things which make us similar to gambling from an outside perspective but that we also have things built into our system which makes it different and helps protect the player. We have overall fixed return, markup, ways to play for free and a player based economy. Granted we do have good and badluck swings too but there is balancing.

Why do these people want to spend thousands of peds for a week and lose it all when they could spend 500 ped or less a month and create an avatar and future for themselves? They can log on and press "F" from home and get the same rush and excitement for far less real money.
With this kind of thinking you will go far my friend XD

I think it would be funny also unless they kick me off at a random port. As for the income after everything I spent on expenses, prizes, DNA and promotion I am sitting at around 9k peds profit since I purchased the land in March. Not where I was hoping to be at but there is always a learning curve and LA ownership is expensive. Getting on the boat is luckily insanely cheap if I book smart and don't drink/gamble myself. Wife and I booked for around 8k peds for the week each with food and entertainment included so it is actually really affordable of you do it right. I can't stay at a run down crack motel where I live for 7k peds a week and they wont even feed you. 🤣
Do you go around in life thinking about your expenses in PED instead of your home currency?

Gas was 453.32 ped rent is 15000 ped insurance is 2334.69 lunch was 743.46.

I used to work on cruise ships. Not the gambling boat kind, although they did have casinos.

I would expect you'd have the following hurdles with your plan:
  • Cruise passengers skew old. Average age of passengers when I was there was well over 50. The only thing that kept the average that low was the kids and families that were there too. Remove the kids, and I bet the average goes up to 65. Not exactly the target demo for this type of activity.
  • To the uninitiated, Entropia can sound like NFTs and Crypto which are far more widespread ideas than RCE games. Anyone with any sense will steer clear of a stranger advocating NFTs and Crypto.
  • The very fact that they are on a boat, and not an online casino already means they aren't just looking for a place to press F.
Any attempts to promote EU should be encouraged, but I think you've got an uphill battle in the context of a cruise.

I only have my nursing home rent which doesn't matter because its always Disability check-$130=Nursing home cost. And then my phone which I got down to $40 a month by getting a friend and my mom to go on the same plan instead of having their own plan along with me so we all saved over $30+ a month. Everything else is credit card debt which I only have from spending on EU. So 2 bills a month that's it really. But I also spend a lot of time telling my Mom what I do in the game so I constantly convert PED to USD to make it easier for her to understand.

if i did, it would probably help me save money.

wow, am i really going to spend 100 ped on lunch? maybe i'll make a sandwich for 20 ped instead.

but i have yet to see a MA official actually be at PA and walk or drive players to camp icarus, maybe theyre not allowed or busy with other things but the
they did in the past, they were in old PA, would answer questions, welcome new arrivals and organize TP runs and other things ...good old times ...

just checking- did you get thrown overboard? what happened? did anyone even talk to you? any new player in game now due to your t-shirts?

Not sure what type of people go on cruises and what type of people actually play this game tbh, but often the learning curve is quite steep so offering mentoring etc would probably be a helpful way as well to guarantee you have people supporting new players, i think most new players stop playing because it's so much to take in.
exactly my point!! We need very passionate and good mentors in this game. i met some good mentors that buy UL weapons (small) for their disciples, some bought sweats from them even tho they dont need it, for me i gave low tt plane to my disciples, sometimes giving them B101 and rubio, and sometimes bringing them from place to place, planet to planet.

EU is very huge and requires a lot of time to learn, if newer players are not encourage and support by their mentors, they can easily give up even tho they are affluent.

And in my opinion, EU is now over saturated with too many planets and too few affluent players, most newbies only sweat here. I have written a very long email to MA CEO on a solid marketing campaign on cross platform promotions (involving cryto platforms) , i hope they will seriously consider my suggestion.

Happy Monday and cheers~

thats my first reaction when i saw the post :) no offence

Alright well since people want to know, yes it was a successful trip in regards to discussing Entropia to potential investors and I also really enjoyed my cruise.

The difference on this boat versus my last is it seems Royal Caribbean is more catered to wealthy individuals and Carnival is the party boat. Instead of using Entropia as a platform for player recruitment I pitched it as an idea for investing similar to what I do with the land area. I met two individuals who I still contact after the cruise who are considering EU as a business venture not just a game.

It did amuse me that idiots had it in their mind I was just going to harass people on their trip out of the blue or shout Entropia stuff to them. What I do is just let conversation come around to EU or steer it that way slowly and discuss what I do and the money I make from it. Chill out in the hot tub or hang in the casino and meet people then wait for discussions to happen naturally.

I think I read one of your posts where you said that you were selling or thinking about selling the LA or smth like that.

I have reached 1 year of owning the land at the end of March. One thing that a gentleman I met taught me is to do at least a yearly evaluation of the asset when you invest into something. Since what I put into the game for my land wasn't just "chump change" or whatever for me; it was an investment with the entirety of what I had put to the side for a long period of time. It is very important for me to evaluate, gauge the growth, change things as needed or see if I want to find a buyer and walk away.

I believe I have grown the name of the land quite a bit and proven what someone can do with a LA and a little dedication. When I purchased KC, the land had tumbleweeds blowing across it and hadn't been put to real use for quite a long time. Khorum Coast is now probably one of the most recognized lands in the game and anyone can do the same with their own!

I will admit having almost everything I own tied into the game is pretty scary sometimes but not because the land isn't performing. I have good months and I have bad just like any business. What scares me is how the economy shifted globally right after I purchased Khorum Coast. Housing prices in my area have increased and I am already paying 1500 peds a month more rent with my new lease than last year.
It is very tempting to sell the land and use the money as a down payment on a house in a cheaper area than Austin Texas. It isn't a necessity though, my wife and I are still living pretty well and I have already recovered a bit of savings, she has her own etc.

I have received some decent offers so far and I could potentially sell right now if I wanted to. However, Arkadia seems to finally be making a comeback and the worst year of owning the land could already be behind me. Who knows how much the land could be worth or how much better it could still perform in the coming months. I am sitting at around 13% ROI which is pretty good for my first year and I have learned quite a bit as a business owner and a land manager. Hell I even had to learn to create YouTube content now because of the LA. It is a pretty fun ride owning it so far!

if I had some ped to invest I would definitely evaluate AUD/AMD and LA's on Ark with the assumption of growth. New team running the show opens up a lot of possibilities. All the planets are looking down the barrel of the UE5 upgrade and the new players it will bring in.

glad it went well and you had some fun on the cruise.

GL on the LA sale

i would wait on buying a home- prices are just stupid atm unless you are selling of course. hmmm - why does that seem familiar - like its happening somewhere else- mmmm - oh well it will come to me one day :)
