News: Prospector Rush

This is awsome especially in this dry dry period.
Edit: mining in space is actually a great ideea and has infinite potential

It will be like the beginning of TWEN. A lot of MU for everyone to mine and hunt. And 10 people are going to pay a lot to acquire these ships and get their hands on unique materials before anyone else will be able to.

Precisely as a RCE game is supposed to be ☺️

All hail M.A. 💪

You get 10k ped of shrap back from MA, buy yeah rest probably still stands. We'll have to wait and see about the pvp part, but that makes a big difference. Probably would be best if they had both pvp and non-pvp.
ahh, I missed that.

Ok, two suggestions for more to talk about: a price check thread and a guess the stats thread.
For more fun, let's guess the names of new mats. We could do it here even, now that the initial 'spark' is done.
For all we know, MA may not even have filled in the names yet, so here we go:

Market price of deed once introduced: 30k SB
Mining ship stats: SI 512 - upgrades using mats, speed 60 clicks, crew 6 via tp, pilot can mine solo. Special feature: cargo bay only 10% lootable by tt
Mineral names: outthereium, vacuumium, soditerite, wasteofspaceium

One thing you missed in the stats: GUNS! One of the concept illustrations shows at least 2 guns. If its based on a privateer as base model, there should be 6 guns and two repair stations so a full crew would be pilot/miner, 6 gunners and 2 repair crew. Thats my offering to the guess the stats thread.

There are only two ways to grow a pyramid -

1. Uniformly increase the faces on all layers, top to bottom.
2. Add more and larger layers to the base (also a consequence of 1. above).

Throwing material into the top simply adds weight, eventually crushing the base, unless the weight can uniformly and rapidly distribute all the way down to the base.

Apologies for off-topic.

It will be interesting to see what this does to space tourism - I hop between planets quite a lot, and it seems that piracy has been fairly intermittent. I hope this doesn't flood the lanes with hopeful highwaymen wreaking havoc. When a 1-hour flight becomes 2 because you're PK'd to square one, that is a loss that cannot be regained. Anybody can make money, but not all the money ever can purchase even one extra second.

Happy HOFing everyone.

great idea, i cant wait to get my hands on some juicy mu

edit* i am to broke to get a ship :D

I suspect that they will go for much more than 30K

Until space is PVP i dont care at all.

IF anyone need components to be clicked i will pose my time at service to click for mates to turn in

Would have been better if they where not warp capable and required backup from other quads and motherships as such to mine safely cause i could see how that could turn into a very interesting tug of warp out in space.

But ty for pointing it out, if that is true they are just a reskinned equus or firebird at the end of the day.

They might still need backup. It'll be crazy for non-space players to try mining with these depending on their starting SI, range of turrets, if they do or don't have hangers like a MS, and their base speed.

If its 500 SI per station base, well they had better invest a ton of gold or be easy pirate food.

If turret range is like a SF/PF they will be easy picking for quads that can stay just out of their range while keeping the ship the quads range.

If they don't have hangers, it'll make crewing only possible from an SS.

If their base speed is equal to, or less than a MS/PF/SF any vehicle that engages them in space can maintain their attack till they win or are destroyed themselves.

On another note, MA has a history of selling "promises" to space. We are still waiting on all the upgrades to MS/PF/SF they promised about a decade ago. We still don't have delivery missions that were promised when MA introduced auction fees and the equus. There are still 3 unique components that drop only in space that have no use in crafting or anything else ingame that are not used. If anyone gets screwed investing in this, I wont feel bad for them, MA's history is pretty clear and it's a buyer beware type risk.

On the guns thing, I saw the guns, which make sense anyway, but then went on to think that mining might be simply shooting at different sizes of rock and 'hp'. This would be easy (read lazy if you like) implementation by MA and would make looting varied minerals per 'kill' possible.
As mob tables are apparently going to have the mats too, then that kinda fits.
Who knows - maybe the 'guns' on these will be high power and high range, and thus also be quad-killers at distance. Maybe that's not so easy to balance, though, and the whiteboard at MA has that scrubbed off again ...

This will always be the case with EU.

But there will be more than 10 people trying to get those deeds for sure. And those who do, they will be the first to (probably) mine new materials, which can be used to craft new items. Or maybe it will be some kind of hand-in missions to Genesis Star. I doubt they will send players out to space to find Lysterium and Crude Oil.

Will the space be unlootable then, or is all space mining subject to being robbed?

Obviously I do not have much data on PVP4 mining vs non PVP4 mining but in 20 years of playing EU I not once mined in PVP4 myself ... So those ships are entirely worthless to me if space remains PVP4

It is probably a 1 person ship with warp like Equus, not a repair point MS/Privater kind ship with crew.

I expect fillers in the loot - and that at least one component is much rarer than others so that MA has a 'balancer' that they can keep track of (and adjust).

Impossible to say ofc since there is no actual info. But since they are deeded ships, which means permanently present in space, that to my mind suggests something more than a glorified equus/firebird. Hopefully, MA will drop some more hints.

Mining ships for crafters.... makes sense
Ye... it does. Whole premise of the game is, or at least should be: gatherers (hunt/mine/harvest/etc) delivering mats to crafters, so they can craft tools/guns/armor/finders/etc for gatherers. And this ship is just another ore/enm finder.

Pulling guns out of mobs asses and mining space ships from the ground... should be a "no go" moving forward.

I think it'll be a less combat capable PF/SF, maybe an equivalent that's also capable of mining. I base this on the pictures MA has provided so far, the turret and fin placement is almost identical to a PF/SF. Instead of a cone nose it has a horseshoe nose, but aside from that the differences are minor while having a lot of similarities.

Pets for spaceships

Repair drones who consume oil and welding wire, repair your ship based on your vse level

If i culd i like my own comment 😂👌

Ah, but will they actually be first, or just have a volume advantage, or a travel (warp) advantage, that turns ultimately into a speed advantage towards getting the new tech?
I refer to:
Space mining will be introduced for the majority of ships, these ones included, at the end of this year (y)
This ship won't be so much use if a hundred quads can invade a non-lootable mob spawn and out-mine these specific ships...

I'm also a bit ??? about the expression 'unlock'. That may indeed make these 10 ships much faster to whatever 'unlocks' than any number of individuals, but what if it is skill gains to an unlock? Then those can be bought by people from people.
Not easy to think with much probability of being right in the information void provided by MA! (But good thinking is what investment decisions should be about, surely!)

Mining will be copy paste from NMS with all universal to platform loot.
Just pew pew from kismet to have instant mats in inventory.

Good I hope all BPs and needed drops will be avatar locked, That would make a long event.

But interesting how many seats it will have?

All I can say is the ores up there better not be the same ores on planets except maybe lyst/crude (should be shrap even) for a filler... it'd already hard enough competing with the mining bots over 25 ped in Cave sap per hour.. imagine competing with ships getting priority on the sap, then bots, then other players splitting that 😆 ...

Other than that if different ores it will be a great economy boosting event and I'm all for that!
