Heyas everyone. Been narrowing down parts and peices last few months for a new rig and want some feedback and suggestions before I hit the button.

This'll prolly be considered a "gaming" rig, but I don't really hardcore game.
It's more for an all-rounder that'll last a few years.
I don't do very much video editing, but do on occasion.
I do a lot of audio editing and multi streaming.
I might OC it mildly (the CPU I plan to get seems to run pretty cool @ 4mhz)

I don't want liquid cooling, but more of a sealed LC system - would rather overkill a bit on that - don't want a bulky Air cooling system.
Fan controller feedback would be greatly appreciated as well as I'll stuff as many as I can (for overkill ofc).

I'll use a 24" monitor @ 1920 x 1080 rez.

Thermal lvl10 is big and ugly, but it's def the case I'll be getting because of the room and modular design.

Ima just list the "guts" I have lined up.

THERMALTAKE Level 10 GT
ASUS P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3
INTEL Core™ i7-2600
CORSAIR 8GB (2 x 4GB) Vengeance™ PC3-12800 DDR3 1600MHz
CORSAIR HX1050w or COOLER MASTER 1200w Silent Pro Gold Series RSC00-80GAD3-US
CORSAIR 60GB Force SSD (or?)

BTW - I already have the new Keplar series PNY GTX680 sitting here waiting to be put in.

I am not "locked" in to any of the above besides the case and viddy card of course...
I DO like, or more "want" an x79 board/3820cpu but it is probably overkill for what I do, thus the z68/2600 combo.

I'm not super tech savvy, I just read a lot about the products before I decide to buy.

Any feedback/opinion?

Not a whole lotta feedback on this forum.
:(

I have 3 1TB satas, a 2tb ext and a...Whatever gb ext already.

Was going to use ssd as the booter. (or use the z68's, errr...what's it called? SRT tech?)

Why do you think they a waste?
Haven't heard anything negative about 'em besides the price.

Dropped to the i5-2500k cpu, and going Corsair h100 with direct link.
Also Switching to Seasonic 1000w Platinum psu.

Thx for opinion!

for SSD get vertex 3 from OCZ.

I heard some people have had firmware issues with the vertex 3s, I recommend a Crucial M4. Possibly the most reliable SSDs on the market ATM. I have one as my boot drive (128 GB) and it performs beautifully.

As for the rest, The PSU you choose is complete overkill. You could drop to 850W or so (Be sure it's a good brand (Corsair, Seasonic, etc)) and still have overclocking headroom for your gear.

On the topic of overclocking, I see you choose an i5 2500K and H100. You can save some money and just get a good air cooler. I have my 2500k running at 4.5 GHz on a Coolermaser Hyper 212+, a $30 air cooler. It doesn't go over 60 C. The H100 is overkill unless you plan on aiming for 4.8+, and your chip might not even be capable of that in the first place.

Hope that all helps!

Thx 00Dan :)

I know psu is overkill...Everyone has said it. I have a good deal lined up so ferk it.
Who knows, maybe I'll slap another 680 in there to suck some more power?
:D

I don't think the i5 will go to 4.8, nor will I be trying to push it there. Maybe 4-4.2.
TBH...Stock will be more than fine for me I'll bet.

Keeping with the overkill theme, h100 is fine w/ me: not much more and rather have the slimmer radiator.
I just don't want a bulky air cooler in there. Not like once it's set I'll be poking around in there everyday anyway, but...

3 others have reco'd the Crucial M4 ssd so must be an ok drive. ;)

I do have some of the gear already on the way here, but any and all feedback is still welcome!

Thx everyone!
:)
