My best friend and mentor died this week. I met him in Entorapia about 10 years ago. We chatted often when he was taking care of his ailing wife.
I met him at Twin Peaks while buying and reselling Sweat. He told me stories about how he wrote stories about the Entropia Universe and the game with his permission published them and made it game lore.
He also would tell me fantastic stories about servicing the in War. And what surviving the Spanish Flu was like. How as much as things changed over the years. Many things also stayed exactly the same.
At 94 years old he was still sharp as a tack. And still actively traveling around the country to different casinos. He was hoping to travel to Canada one day.
I heard he had a great singing voice. Although after all these years I never actually heard him speak. We only used text chat.
I'll never forget the many late-night team hunts. "Beamer" ( his Entropia Nickname) would do the shooting and I would heal. He was so nice he split the loot with me even though I only healed. And that really helped me get a foothold in the game. How many players do ya meet nice enough to do that ?
It's hard to believe he is gone now. He was still so full of life and had more he wanted to do. I just checked last night to see if he was back in the game yet. I knew he was having some recent health issues.
I'll try not to get to down and depressed about this. But it's going to take time. Next time I need advice it's going to be difficult not to have his wisdom to lean on.
Every time over the years when I was going threw rough patches Beamer was there. Offering great advice. The world just won't be the same anymore.
Praying for his family during this difficult time...
Maybe when your playing today you can have a moment of silence. And after send out a RIP to Beamer ( Frank O Diegidio) in the game chat.
