Damage test
My socmate Bones is camping Rippersnappers at the moment so we decided to do some damage testing.
Firstly we checked that Goblin didn't decay, and it didn't, so we can rule out Impact and Acid, so the Stab/Cut looks to be correct, barring any weird damage types. So let's assume for the moment that they do only Stab and/or Cut.
In unplated Gremlin, Bones took a hit of 7.9 from a Provider which decayed the armour 1.230 pec. Using Coop's damage formula we can see that this corresponds to 16.9 damage absorbed, and without protection the hit would have been for 24.8.
Since some damage was received, the Gremlin must have protected either Stab or Cut to its maximum extent. So on this particular hit we must have absorbed either 11 Stab+5.9 Cut, or 9 Cut+7.9 Stab.
Entropedia says the maximum hit from a Provider is 25, and 24.8 is 99.2% of 25. If we scale up the figures using the same proportion, we could get 6 Cut in the first case, or 8 Stab in the second case. The fitted figures are close to a whole number so either of these looks feasible, and the 25 maximum would appear to be correct.
So a Provider does either 19 Stab+6 Cut or 8 Stab+17 Cut on a maximum hit.
Doing the same test with 5b (using Goblin as a dummy armour with no protection against the mob) Bones got a 4.0 hit which decayed the plate 1.094 pec. This corresponds to 15.1 damage absorbed, and therefore a 19.1 total hit. So the absorbed damage from this hit was either 8 Stab+7.1 Cut, or 9 Cut+6.1 Stab.
19.1 is 76.4% of 25, so again using this figure to scale up the numbers, we can see that in the first case we would get a maximum Cut damage of 9.3, which doesn't fit with the Gremlin data. However in the second case we would get 8 Stab, which fits with one of the two options we identified with the Gremlin test.
So a Provider does 17 Cut and 8 Stab, and if we approximate this to a percentage we can say that
Rippersnappers do approximately 66% Cut/33% Stab.
To fully verify this we'd need to rule out the unlikely-sounding Burn, Penetration, Electric, Cold and Shrapnel damages, which I haven't done yet but which should be easy to check with Vigi+6a.
