Sapphire and ruby spawn rates

Has anyone worked out the frequency of spawn of these rare pets? They're so cute!

For the preference point I killed both sapphire and ruby devils this morning (hope I learn from that experience). I doubt not many tamer are willing to share if they figure out the spawning rate.

time, just a matter of time until taming a ruby is not considered an uber hof.

And probably kill again until I tame one for myself. Most problem I see is the frequent flyby'ers who are circling the island trying to spot only rare ones.
