Question: Should I bother trying this game?

Im 14 but Ive put in a bit of money. To me it sounds like you want MA to pay you just to play. This is a hard game to profit in and takes serious dedication. Also, you need to lose money to make money so yea. Add me ingame if you are really serious about profit and we can talk. Remember, this game is long term, losing a few thousand ped in a month doesnt really mean anything. A good example of what I say is Strashs mining log.

If playing for free I seriously advise just putting in twenty dollars. Im not really into this but if you want, you can buy players ore for a lower mu and sell it for higher. After a few months you will probably be able to do some amped mining, plus you would have a few months to research and talk to people.

Look at Stryker by the way. One of the best players in the game, started as a teen. Don't get me wrong though, he started early and had a lot of advantages. I do not advise speaking with him though, Im worried you may be led in the wrong direction.

By the way, this is not gambling at all. Loot works specifically and will always average at around 90% when crafting, mining, etc. This doesnt mean it will always be 90%. With mining for example, amped, returns stay fairly low until after a few dedicated months to a year. After a year though, you could have made 10k USD. Look at Strash, good example especially because its all here on the forum.

Laws on gambling are very strict. I live in the U.S. and there is no way the game could just come in and people (kids and teens) could legally gamble online. To think this game is gambling is false. It would never be legal if it were and there are many patterns you can find to prove it.

I agree with everything you have to say, but being that this game is based out of Sweden and not the US, your last part isn't 100% true. I'm not saying EU is a casino, but I'm just saying that if it were, it wouldn't be as easy to shut it down by the US since it is not a game based out of the US. :)

I could be wrong but I believe they switched from PEDs in loot windows to animal oils specifically because the PEDs made it "look like gambling". It's all about appearances. I'm not familiar with Swedish law, but the legal definition of gambling is not the same as the general definition (to wager money on an uncertain outcome). Every time you kill/loot a mob you're gambling.

EU is arguably worse than any casino. A casino has no clocks, no windows, tons of alcohol, you use chips instead of real money, etc... Everything is cleverly designed to make you spend money and feel like you're in fantasy play-land.

EU on the other hand, doesn't hide behind any tricks. It very openly wants to take over your life completely. It's surrounding you not only with lights and sounds, but an entire virtual universe where the entire economy runs on one simple thing: Gambling. But hey, at least it's honest and straightforward.

"Make your fortune", "start your new life on Planet Calypso", "earn a living by playing this game".

To the OP:

IMO there are 3 things that draw most players to EU.

1. To live in a "fun" virtual sci-fi reality instead of a real one (basically escaping their boring lives)

2. To gamble

3. The addictive pleasurable rush of grinding/competition/ego which is severely amplified by the allure of RCE

At the end of the day choosing between a game like EU and World of Warcraft (for example) comes down to whether or not these 3 things are appealing enough to you in order to sacrifice everything you get with a conventional MMO (excellent interactive gameplay and PvP, bugs that actually get fixed, an even playing field, the list goes on).

:scratch2: I never said anything about it being illegal. There are many online casino sites.

For someone under the legal age to gamble? Also this game has been deemed as not gambling multiple times...
