The 1 unachieved profession

Speak to the dead is NOT a profession... this is correct. However the Reviver unlock that causes this skill to be able to be used IS what the 1 unlock is and was LONG before they added mentor into professions.

To use the res chip you have to be level 14 Reviver according to entropedia.
http://www.entropiawiki.com/Info.aspx?chart=FAP&id=34

And you unlock the reviver profession as you skill any mindforce, or even just general hunting/mining/crafting.
http://www.entropiawiki.com/Info.aspx?chart=Activity&id=64

And when the prof standing were introduced (the window that shows ALL prof standings and showing how many professions you have skilled in), mentor was included in them, that is if you had enough skills to have unlocked (reached level 1) in it.

I have 1 unachieved profession. I`ve only graduated one disciple but never did anything beauty related. I thought it counted any amount of skill toward each profession regardless of ranks etc.

yes, exactly, and since Mentor is 100% based on the Mentor skill you have to have sufficient Mentor skill (whatever the requirement is) to achieve that profession.

TBH totally lost interest in ever looking into it as it has not been worth my time in effort needed with little and unpredictable return. (random gift system)

Made a suggestion to make the Mentoring & Reputation system useful and viable for those working within the RCE environment as most of us are in one way or another here ... Mentoring System Improvements

Until something is done to make it attractive, the Mentoring is out the window for me.

I think its pretty good as it is with the level of gifts...
You don't want to make it too profitable to be a mentor, then all the wrong kinds of people will flock to it, and we will get even more mentor scammers.

I think its good that the main motivation for becoming a mentor is that you want to help people, not that you want to get free swag.

But I agree it could really use an upgrade, and keeping better track of how well this mentor has actually performed (with feedback etc) is really needed... had some good suggestions in that thread.

I'm pretty sure that it is Mentor. I'm missing that one as well.

It's not because you have a mentor skills that you unlocked the mentor profession. I don't know how many you need to get the profession.

ummmm :scratch2::confused:

if u only got 10 15 graduates theirs no way u got 93 pts in mentor skill :silly2:

wrong, the skill gain per graduate was nerfed at some point ;)
exactly
in VU 7.4 it was i think

it actually went from 20-30 pts per graduater to 0.5

i wrote a support case about that btw and the answer i got was funny
bit like " VU 7.4 the skill system was changed, you may not receive a skill gain all the time, but if, it will be higher"

so effectively i was told that 0.5pts per disciple is more than 20pts

0.5>20

oh yes, over time i adjusted my deposits to that as well, and deposited "more" :)

1) It's the Mentor profession. 99.99% of players don't now and never will have it unlocked unless MA makes changes.

2) It will most likely take much more than 4 disciples to unlock. You're not even guaranteed a skill gain every time (like with any other activity) and, when you do get one, it's a small amount.

Haha. Touche, MA.

the question is basically, when does a profession appear first, at what prof standing

I don't know for certain. I can't remember it ever being tested but from noob profession screens I've seen, my guess is they unlock at a profession level of 0.1. But we should test that to be sure.

If its 0.1 that would be equivalent to Mentor skill reaching 10. So about 20 disciples by your 0.5 theory.

I have 1 unachieved profession. I`ve only graduated one disciple but never did anything beauty related. I thought it counted any amount of skill toward each profession regardless of ranks etc.

Beauty has a contribution from attributes and dexterity, so after a while most people get enough to unlock the three beauty professions without having done any beauty stuff.

i think i had about 25 graduaters already when this profession thing appeared

hard for me to tell

here the skills from a thread i made when i reached 25 graduaters
my 25th (if i counted right) disciple reached 100% 3 days ago, and i released him yesterday (my mentor level is still 12  , and my prof standing says inept mentor, hilarious)

points were levels those days, so could be right

You know I did notice that when I was looking at skills recently that my three beauty skills were on their way so mentor makes even more sense now. I can`t wait until they introduce fisherman!

The one un-achieved skill is probably mentoring.
Or something obscure, like knitting.

Fishermen, you say? That would be a neat profession.

I'm not sure if this relates, but what about promoter?
Reason I ask, I had never used the event system before last month, and I did a soc only event, and was amazed to receive promoter skill notification at its conclusion. And that is not even listed in the skills.
Or is promoter not a skill? If not, what is it good for?

Promoter Rating is listed in the skills, but you can only see it in the 'All Skills' list (or whatever it's called), it doesn't belong to a category. Same for Reputation.

It's not a profession and has nothing to do with professions.

I do think I once heard that mentioning is unlocked when one reach the "inept" pro-standing so, as Jimmy B said above nowadays one should therefore need around 20 deciples to achieve that...

All the professions are listed here: http://www.entropiawiki.com/Chart.aspx?chart=Activity

Mentor is the most commonly missed one, because only the Mentor skill contributes to it. So anyone who hasn't Mentored doesn't have it.

Material Designer is probably the next least acquired one, as attributes and general skills don't contribute to it, so you'll only have it if you've done tailoring, coloring or texturing.

If you have both of those, dunno, work your way through the list and see which one you don't have :D

how do you unlock the Material Designer Profession?

Ive been crafting Generic Leather Textures for 2 days and nothing

Try actually "applying" some textures, not just crafting them.

Edit: The above is only a suggestion and should not be taken as fact.

Coffee is correct, it should be taken as fact :)

Colouring uses a lot of the same skills, so that's another (slightly slower) route to opening Material Designer.

ty Coffee, Oleg

any info at which level it actually unlocks?

Yes lol, I tried the same approach recently and got bored very quickly

All profession levels unlock at 0.1 in pro-standing. Look at your skill progression on Generic Leather Textures (the textures not the BP). Mine is currently 0.3%, the profession should unlock when it gets to 1% (0.1 being 1% of the pro-standing=10 requirement for Generic Leather).

The unachieved profession is that of Illuminatus. I have determined this by rigorous investigation and some eavesdropping.
There are only 10 avatars who have unlocked this, and they control everything as a result, including who is allowed to unlock it.
I don't know who they are, but I am pursuing every clue. I have put my very life in danger with this post because I feel this information is so important!
Be very wary of every avatar's actions and words, and ponder them..the Illuminati have agents everwhere.
Note to the Illuminati: I can be bought.

What does that mean for the Mentor Proffession?
How much skillpoints in Mentor skill do I need to unlock this last proffession ???
Atm I am at 4 pts Mentoring skill :)

so you're saying there is an indicator of when it is about to unlock but you cannot accuratly tell me in terms of skill needed.

e.g. possibly skills need to be:

texture engineering 50
make textile 30
engineering 200
etc..

(random amounts shown above, do not take literally)

or another way would be when Material Manufacturer Prof reaches level 5 it unlocks it ??

so, are you telling me that the only way to know if its about to unlock is check your skill progress against the generic leather texture? I find that hard to believe

for everything else we know exact details, coolness at level 40, wounding at level 45, medicine at 20 etc. why not for Material Designer?

You need 10pts in Mentoring skill.

Don't confuse professions with skills. We do know exactly when Material Designer profession unlocks. It unlocks at lvl 0.1 profession, just like all other professions.

In terms of skills, this is, we believe, the breakdown:

Code:
Coloring 5%
Carpentry 4%
Fashion Design 6%
Texture Pat. Mat. 40%
Material Comp. 12%
Color Matching 3%
Make Textile 10%
Tailoring 6%
Surface Comp. 8%
Quality Sense 3%

Multiply skill value by the skill percentage and divide by 100, will tell you how much each individual skill contributes to the profession level.

So if you had 0 in all the other skills and 200 in Coloring, that'd give you 100*0.05/100=0.1 profession levels. So 200 Coloring would do it, as would 25 Texture Pattern Matching, 100 Make Textile, etc. But in practice you'll generally use a combination of the skills so I can't give an exact figure no.

You need 10pts in Mentoring skill.
that would be like 20 graduaters ^.-

i think i have 27 pts atm after 58 graduaters
