This will be an ongoing test I hope to keep updated; I realise at present the amount of data is low.

The test hopes to examine this VU note released by MA

Attachment Parameter Changes

•Skill Bonus on Attachments . The skill modification effect
now have a clarifying tool tip. The attachment gives a bonus to the
user's hit ability and it has full effect when the target is on
maximum weapon range. When the target comes closer the effect
decreases and it reaches its minimum effect when the target is in
the immediate vicinity. Since the effect is variable the hit
ability parameter display is not affected by the skill
modification.
•New Parameter on Attachments . A new parameter has been
introduced on laser sights and scopes. This new parameter gives the
user a skill increase bonus when the attachment is attached to the
tool. The skill increase bonus of the attachment will affect the
skill that the tool affect. The number does not indicate an actual
increase rate percentage but a higher number is better than a
lower.

The assumption hit rate is maxed at 90% http://www.entropiawiki.com/Page.aspx?page=hit+rate

What do you have without attachments? I mean when you test it not what it should be.

Thanks for doing this test :). This seems to reflect what I have observed as well. Approximately 0.5-1% higher than expected using Seizzt 3500 and 2xTerrus SE800. I have not done a comparison without though. Would you consider doing a few runs without the attachments?

I haven't had the time to test that, as of yet. I am assuming previous tests on hit rate (without attachment) are correct. You are right on pointing out the flaw, I should have data without attachment. The test is ongoing and I will be publishing more data.

Looking forward to that data :)

99% CI (confidence interval) for given data ranges from 86.51% to 87.93%. As 86.4% is outside this interval and assuming that 86.4% is the real value, you can conclude that your hit rate is higher than 86.4% with max at 87.93%.

Thanks for that analysis, I should be uploading data for another 7000-8000 shots tonight. We'll have to see if the trend continues.

I'll now run some tests without attachment, as I am unsure whether max hit rate is 90% or closer to 92%

Updated the original post with data when not using a scope or laser sight/s

Without Attachment

Total Misses = 1038

Total Shots = 7715

Subscribing! Can't wait to see more results!
btw, what tool are you using to caluclate everything?

Here the 99% confidence intervals:

With attachments: 86.64% to 87.70%
Without attach....: 85.51% to 87.52%

As intervals do overlap, we can't conclude that hitrate is different (p=.144, Chi-Square test).
You might need more shots in the group without attachments. Sample size calculation suggests 41810 shots per group.

Thanks for the analysis again falkao. Yes there definitely needs to be more data. Another problem is I have the suspicion that the system may have memory of hit/miss data. Therefore when you switch between attachment/no attachment, the data may be contaminated from what you were previously doing. So it may need alot more data to remove this effect

You mean EntropiaTracker may have a memory of previous sessions? Or EU itself?

If it's just ET you're worried about try using EUHunter, that definitely starts with a clean session each time.

I don't think that there is some sort of memory but there might be other concomitant effects. For instance, if you test one set only in the afternoon and one always in the evening when more players are online, than lag might have an influence. The best thing to do would be to switch setups randomly.
