Which "game" was more fun mining, PE or EU ?

For me it's PE, with all it's janky systems, duping exploits, predictable mining system, hands down PE..

EU is just a random gambler's paradise with no system, personal skill or predictability to speak of. Just you WILL get 95% back over time... PE well that was I think 600% return, on LYST !!! 300% MU and another 300% from knowing exactly where to hit with which finder.

I wasn't around quite as far back as PE, but I think the answer for mining is a fairly clear "old EU." It's not completely beyond controversy. New planets with a ton of new area to mine count for something, for sure. But I think some of the actualized user experiences which come closest providing a hint of Entropia's potential involve old EU mining. A miner from that era would hit claims out of reach, and have to jump up mountains at particular angles to reach them, learning the physics of the game and improving their hill climbing skills over time.

By far the greatest user story from Entropia I've ever encountered was a miner hitting a claim out of reach, intensely pondering how to reach it, remembering the existence of the "staircase" trick instantiated by dropping items on weapon attachments, finding enough material for a single click of a scope blueprint, succeeding at the click, and making a texture staircase in time to reach the claim! I'm not saying we could recover this exact experience in an era of vehicles, but this is a great general template for future design. A problem arose organically, as opposed to being AB tested to no end and handed down directly from a developer in a tutorial or mission text box. A solution arose organically, from the ingenuity and creativity of the miner combining elements of mining (the claim), crafting (the blueprint), and hunting (the scope), built on the shoulders of the ingenuity and creativity of the Entropia community (inventing the staircase trick). The miner's success at reaching the claim was not fated, given a willingness to grind through a laundry list of chores, but was attained genuinely as a result of the knowledge and decisions applied to the scenario. Today, this would likely be viewed by the community as an exploit, but the intersubjective interpretation of the relevant EULA clause was far more narrowly tailored and chill at the time. At any rate, the experience is diminished only partially if one substitutes the staircase out for Wally Shelving or some other creatively chosen item. This kind of memory will never be forgotten. This is the type of design which authentically places the Entropian at the center of her own user experience, as any sandbox should strive to create.

So you enjoyed when you could exploit the game and system and in return stole from the company? Okay.

The skill is in knowledge and experience. In game skill at least for mining just allows more versatility depending on what's going on but it's alot more technical then you suggest especially if your trying to work out averages. Leeloo interesting stats regarding drop rates ores at certain depths.

Even the people who exclusively run around fort argus no doubt worked out that the pyrite drops over certain amount ped cycled = profit even though the bulk of ore is generally nanocube food / 102.

The only gamble is your TT returns which ATM with so many miners about and hit rate rubbish in areas your likely to global to = out.

You have just proven my point, while you are mining there is absolutely no skill involved as to where exactly IE the exact X and y coords you drop a probe at. A person carpet-bombing will have the same return overtime as someone that does not. Shameful... Absolutely no skill involved

I have never withdrawn from PE. Following veins was just too easy but at least there was a bit of skill involved, now none of the exists.. Sad really.. The game had such high potential, and now look at it...

Now any 2 week miner with 20 iq and a mentor can get constant 15000 ped/month with L tools....
I really much doubt that

You still need to know a generalized area and depth. These mu drops are still within a confined area and are subject to if the server is allowing them to drop due to caps which a quick look on hall of fame board will tell you what not might be dropping.

If you could one drop redulite, igni etc ma wouldn't earn much money, pools wouldn't fill up and mu would most likely certainly tank. It's about your averages and if your bombing a whole area over a confined area your conversion rate into something with mu isn't going to be great compared to someone doing a targeted approach.

i cant speak for project entropia but i tried mining yesterday and it was pretty fun lol. with markup i was able to get over 300p on that hit alone

gear was a simple f-101 finder, no amplifier. i was already cutting trees in hell so that is where i mined.

it did feel very unpredictable, but then again so does hunting and crafting. its all a matter of balancing your gameplay to your budget. ask yourself the question: if there is no system, personal skill or predictability to speak of, then why are you still struggling with it?

the mining process itself is pretty dead simple: just run & drop probes. the skill part, is how exactly are you going to sell the resources you get to extract the most markup out of it.

- are you going to craft with the stuff you mine, potentially selling the finished product for a higher price or are you going to sell it directly?
- do you sell as soon as you have enough stock, or do you wait for optimal market conditions before selling?
- do you only sell on Calypso, or do you have various places where you sell stock?

to be frank im talking out of my ass and repeating stuff i have read on other threads, i think i probably dropped 70 probes in total in my EU career... but it really seem like you are on a wild goose chase trying to crack some kind of system for mining. perhaps you should just embrace how chaotic the system is, and instead put more effort on the "selling your stock for the most markup" part, that is where the true wealth is :)

PE, as we were literally throwing pecs to mobs without autotarget system, dont click left button, always use right button !
oh that thrill and risk !

yeah man, for sure, and that's why the game is doing so well. Everyone just printing money with ease.

I did enjoy PE the most because of how it was , all the funn besides the usual profit hunt.

Entropia 2.0 i like too , its still the game i enjoy the most my goal did just change from having funn to being professional.

It was easyer to profit in pe
This does not mean that it is impossible to profit in entropia today, it is still very easy if you Stick to profit only.

Not everyone, just some of them who CHOOSE to make money.
