The Future of Mayhem: Vendor Changes

Greetings Colonists,

In our previous updates on the future of Mayhem, we talked about some of the upcoming short term changes to the Mayhem Format, including changes to the instances, how tokens are obtained, and detaching Resource Events from the Mayhem format.

In this update, we want to share with you our plans for the longer term, in particular in regards to the vendor.

Sustainability

One of the biggest challenges faced by the current setup of the Mayhem Event format lies with the vendor. Whilst unlimited items provide a great incentive and a valuable reward for players, it isn't without issue.

In short, the faucet of tokens into the economy has been increased, participation in the format has also been very high, and the vendor has remained primarily used for the purpose of obtaining high-end UL items. This combined with expectations for restocks of these items has created a cycle which brings UL items into the game at an unsustainable rate - and frustration from players expecting and waiting for said items to be stocked.

Therefore, our plan is to remove UL items entirely from the vendor once stock is depleted, replacing them with exceptional, limited versions, and craftable exceptional limited versions that consume items from the economy. These “exceptional” style items provide long lasting items, but items that will ultimately expire with use. We believe that this still provides meaningful incentive for many players to participate, whilst ensuring UL items do not become more overabundant.

It is not lost on us that this is a very fundamental change, but we hope that you understand the necessity and reasoning behind it. Our goal is to set the economy within Entropia on the right path and create a sustainable Mayhem Format, and this requires us to take strong decisions for the long term betterment of players, the economy and game.

Of course we understand that such a drastic shift must be done in as fair a way as possible, whilst also ensuring we make this shift sooner rather than later. As such, our plan for how we will execute this is as follows.

Process of Change and Restock

While we will be moving forward with a different model for the vendor, we will make both normal and rare Mayhem Tokens tradable for a fixed period to allow players agency in this transitional period.

In addition to this, we will also provide a final restock of some unlimited items at the end of this period. However, once these items, and existing UL stock has been depleted, their listings will be removed from the vendor.

Our hope is that this process will give players agency regarding the vendor and future of Mayhem. The process and dates will be as follows:

  1. Between 29th April and 27th May, tokens will temporarily be made tradeable. This will allow a grace period for players to offload/buy up tokens if they feel it is in their best interest with the changes going forward
  2. In the week directly following the end of this period, we will post a notice detailing the days and times when vendor restocking will take place, accounting for players of different timezones.

We know that these changes will have a significant impact on players in many different ways. Our aim with this update is to provide transparency and certainty in this transitional period. We believe that this is the way forward for a fundamentally sustainable format.

We will continue to look at feedback you all provide to help inform any future changes or adjustments.

Thank you for your continued passion and love for Entropia Universe.

Restocking, vendor stock

That completely depends on the size and type of that final re-stock.
No announcement of what items will be restocked, how many will be restocked, if the prices will remain the same.
Would be good for them to specify what will actually be restocked. (Sounded like not everything will be). Would really suck for people buying a bunch of tokens to find out the item they were looking to get isn't even restocked.

There will be an official announcement for which items will be restocked and the times the restocks will happen.

The big question is: will the new supply have the same amount of tokens needed to make a pull as last time or as listed now, or will it change again?
Agree. This would be worst scenario.
They need to annouce how many and whic UL items will be restocked. It should be significant amout of UL items no mather that will in short time maybe influence prices. Anyhow I still find prices of UL items very high.

Prices will remain the same. There will be no last minute changes.

Well hopefully don't restock while im at work or during week.... weekend be better come on m a people have lives first

There will be at least one restock on a weekend. More details will come later.

Will the "last" UL restock take in consideration the unused RARE tokens still arround?

Yes.

you guys should impose limits here if possible.

There will be no limit to how many items one person can pull.
This is not possible with the current system.

I think we need a further comment on the future availability of the low end consumables, so that there is some kind of minimum realistic value for the tokens in the month of trading. Or, once again, it becomes a gamble-fest (= risk-take-fest if people don't like the word gamble...)

Low end consumables will stay in stock in the future.

Unless the final re-stocks have significant quantity of items, this is basically the scenario we are looking at.
It should be significant amout of UL items no mather that will in short time maybe influence prices.

The restock will be significant.

Tokens

Also can you guys make the mayhem tokens auctionable during that time. It will be hard to see the price of them otherwise

The tokens will be auctionable, yes.

Haven't they said in some of the recent mayhem changes announcements that resource mayhem or any similar event in the future will not drop the same tokens as normal mayhem?

Future Resource Mayhems will not be connected to normal Mayhems. We are still working on the design.

btw, are Redulite (and other) Cosmetic Tokens now joke to you? MA just forgot about these

Cosmetic tokens will feature in future Mayhems, but this Mayhem is a transitional event focused specifically on the UL item situation. We have not forgotten about them.

Limited items

Does the L bp from the vendor give 100% chance to craft the item ?

No, they will work like any normal blueprint. This is why they are also much cheaper than just buying the item itself with tokens.

Will the limited items always be in stock?

Not all of the items, but there will always be items in stock.

Does L exceptional mayhem weapon price will be adjusted ( cheaper ) as the token gathering difficulty is greatly increased ?
What is the point of either buying rares or normal tokens in bulk, or taking this Mayhem seriously if almost nothing changes except that rare restocks will from soon on will be of (L) stuff that most people still won't be able to get at the vendor.

Pricing will be rebalanced with the new drop rates in mind for the next Mayhem, after this transitional period.

The stock of Limited items will be higher than it was for Unlimited items.

A necessary first step. Now we need (L) weapons and armor that are considerably better than any existing UL and/or require hunting and mining loots to repair UL. MMUGA

In general, yes. Exceptional L items should be better than most UL items.

Also, I'm hoping these new exceptional items are tradable unlike daily mission L gear. This move they are making with L stuff needs to be handled carefully to not have the markups be psychotic too.

The Limited items will be tradeable.

Guessing the first thread on this will now be closed to give Bertha priority.... thanks for the few mins extra heads up though :p

Hard luck for those who grinded. The game's economy cannot sustain an unlimited amount of unlimited items, not with the current amount of players.

chatgpt is strong in this one.

I find it a little concerning YOU, of all people, didn't see this coming..
The players who placed first in the competitive events STILL had the majority of the prizes..
They just had more selection and MORE prizes..
I DID see this coming, and have stayed away from tokens pretty much..
I am sorry for those people who have grinded and will now miss out.

Small steps to come back to life?
Nice we got a full detail plan.

So i have absolutely no chance of having any unlimited gear from it. Like any player who would have wanted to do so.
Take care.
As I understand, you still have 2 options :
1 - "In addition to this, we will also provide a final restock of some unlimited items"
2 - We will be allowed to sell our tokens during 4 weeks, and buy an UL weapons from others.

Seems an excellent way to end it. Gives everyone an oppertunity either way without screwing you over.

It will be interesting to see what they mean with a final re-stock.

For these changes as an overall solution, I believe some people will be happy that the value of their items will get some protection - these people, however, need to realize that there will probably be people who will quit over a decision like this, shrinking the player-base further.

Apparently it won't be ONE final restock, but several for different time zones, with pre-notification of dates and times of day.
After that, the NPC will have (L) stuff, and/or (L?)bps for crafted (L) stuff - amounts also unlikely to be high, though.

Not bad way to do it. It's impossible to please everyone. But this leaves most people with something at least. Consider dropping ul items in events like migration. The c80 and c120 was a nice addition. Don't stock vendor insanely with mod nanos now.
There is just too much ul items circulating the game. We honestly don't need more at least from vendor.
Also if all items eventually will be L I don't see a reason not to keep rare tokens and mayhem tokens tradeable, it is a real cash economy after all unless you're planning to add UL items again to vendor.

The one thing is that people who farmed RM got a crazy advantage now. They could potentially take multiple items, you guys should impose limits here if possible.

Also can you guys make the mayhem tokens auctionable during that time. It will be hard to see the price of them otherwise

Where did you hear this?

Well this is good step. Give closure to current m and rare token holders. I hope it will be just enough items which seems fair and to finish story. Also would be nice to know which Ul items will be refilwd and will it be same amout of M tokens needed for weapons or in last moment will be increased.

It will be interesting to see how many exceptional weapons can be sold every month.
I think that ppl who cycle a lot don't need them because they already have good UL weapon and most of rest of players just don't cycle that much to consume all of them in some sustainable time. Leading us to point there will be more exceptional weapons than players using them.
But that's just how I think about it, it can be new meta, I just can't see how to achieve that.

if they have 95% the success is 42% avg, worst outcome is at start to have 10 clicks and 0 or 1 success then u get rest :D
Gonna add so success rate is 2,38 clicks/attend actually.

Well tier comps and gems just got cheap.......more MU lost but cheaper tiering i guess.....

It will be interesting to see what they mean with a final re-stock.

So, for one month - 10-100 players are going to gather Tokens and Rares ...and then camp the vendor for the hopes their internet is faster than the rest and the unlucky guys get to pull the regular nanos lol....

I have Rares and Tokens for sale if anyone is interested

Well that’s atleast communication and clear transparency, guess this is where we will see if I get an item and continue, or get robbed a final time and go full nuclear ☢️

While we told them for so for years they did not listen, now they listen, and I’m not sure I like it…….. 7P’s would definitely have been preferred
