The Mob Ladder - A guide to what mob to hunt next

Status
This list is based on Youngs. Imo Proteron Young is more like the ones in High except for its huge HP, which just makes them slower to kill not harder.

Yeah Proteron is a bit of a tricky one, they're either a tough High or an easy Uber I would say :)

They're in the Uber section for now but I'm considering moving them down. Not yet though because my download is about to complete :D

for squids... medium/ high i would say... don't hit often but has a lot of hp

thanks a lot for this list, it will greatly help me in the future.

i thought i was still a newb and i feel better being a "disciple" now :silly2:

Oleg you'll have a bit of work now to add in the new Rocktropia mobs

don´t agree to malcruentor
this is a slow mob you can easyly outrun, same as globster.

this mobs are easy for medium players, using long range guns and shot & run tactics.

No need to be UBER to hunt them.

I suggest you do a major make-over of the list.
Criteria as : budget and gear are very important.
Most mobs have their mid-high maturities in the next category. Some other mobs are accessible with the right gear to lower skilled players.

Yes I do, there are still some missing fish and newer mobs too. I also plan to restructure the categories a bit, some are getting rather full.

I will need some input on Rocktropia mobs, I didn't spend much time there. Any suggestions are welcomed :)

The idea is about hunting mobs toe-to-toe, there are a lot of mobs here that can be killed much more easily than it might appear by using unorthodox tactics. Any noob can revive-kill a Falx but I'm not going to put it in the same category as Exas.

Cmon! we should share some info about rocktropia.
Does any one more have any ideas about the mobs on rocktropia?
cant wait to discuss a bit more :D

Nice guide, this can really help me plan ahead.

Thanks, I'm glad you like it :)

I need to make some updates, after I get Commando this weekend I'll get onto it :)

You can find info on mob locations in the Bestiary here on EF or at www.entropiawiki.com. The links from my list will take you to the appropriate pages.

Sometimes it takes a little bit of exploring and testing the spawns to find out which is the right place for you though :)

This may already been said.
Also a source of spots where to find mobs, can be found here:

Great guide +rep
I just have killed my first few bibos and berycleds yesterday, so i suppose that im on Noob level now ? :D

I would put Levi as medium lvl mob exept prowler and stalker.:)

As a suggestion for this thread to become even more useful, I'd split most of the mobs by maturity; as it is now, it might give some people the wrong idea.

I've given the list a much-needed update. Changes I've made are:

  • Deleted most of the gear recommendations which were out-of-date and didn't reflect changes in available equipment since the list was first created.
  • Added a new Tough section between High Level and Uber and moved some mobs from both old categories into the new one.
  • Added Sonic Squid (Disciple), Boorum Female (Medium), Leviathan (High) and Razortooth (High).

I haven't included any Rocktropia mobs, partly because I know little about them and partly because I think it might be better to have separate lists for different planets. Perhaps someone else can make a Rocktropia list based on my category structure?

As a suggestion for this thread to become even more useful, I'd split most of the mobs by maturity; as it is now, it might give some people the wrong idea.

This has been discussed before. While making a list with different maturities would obviously provide more detail, it would be unwieldy and complicated. The point of the Mob Ladder is to provide a simple list that gives a general overall picture, which is why only the smallest maturities are considered here.

I've added a note to the mobs on the list that have an Iron Challenge available. Thanks to Zyrixqi for the idea :)

Thx Oleg I used to use this list often I just was not paying attention and did not relise it was created by you.

I gues I finally made to the tough level and I think Ill stay here awhile.

;)

Nice very nice list:)

Might consider adding the Bronze level challenge for argo.

I think it would be helpful for new people to have an idea of what each player type is defined by... Either total skills, HP or something else.

Little Birdies
Tiny non-aggressive birds that will die with a couple of shots. Not really recommended for hunting but it can be fun to wipe them out!

Chirpy (Bestiary, Entropedia)
Fugabarba (Bestiary, Entropedia)
Gibnib (Bestiary, Entropedia)
Turp (Bestiary, Entropedia)

Beginner
Beginning hunters should start with these mobs. An Opalo should be enough to kill these without any armour or a FAP.

Daikiba (Bestiary, Entropedia) IRON
Exarosaur (Bestiary, Entropedia)
Plumatergus (Bestiary, Entropedia)
Pupugi (Bestiary, Entropedia)
Sabakuma (Bestiary, Entropedia)
Snablesnot Female (Bestiary, Entropedia)

When you've got a few pieces of low-end armour, try some of these. A bigger gun or an amp would be good at this point.

I'm a little late with this post---but this is an excellent guide, Oleg, and I'm very glad you made it! Thank you. :)

What's the diference between Beginner and Noob? who is stronger?
If the beginner is weaker than the noob why the Berycled (which is easy to kill) is in the noob and not in the beginner?

Noob is one category above Beginner in Oleg's ladder...however...

...easier than what? all mobs in Oleg's beginner category are weaker than the berycled put in his Noob category? I don't get it... :scratch2:

you are right. just the noobs start where the berycled is almost only puny wich made me think it's easier for new player to kill puny berycled than young daikiba.

Puny mobs didn't exist when Oleg started this thread. I think we can assume they're currently excluded.

Yep, Puny maturities are not factored in to this list, so the entries for Berycled, Caudatergus and Tripudion reflect the Young versions.

I'm reluctant to use the Punies as the base level since they are special cases and not really comparable to the standard maturities. However I do think there should be something in the list to acknowledge that the Puny mobs are very easy.

I can think of three options:

  • Add a new category for Puny mobs between Little Birdies and Beginner (but keep the existing Young entry)
  • Add Puny mobs as separate entries in the Beginner section (but keep the existing Young entry)
  • Add a note in the first post about Puny mobs and leave the list as it is

Any thoughts on this, or other suggestions?

that should be enough, they are all easy enough that just noting them should do it.

Also like someone said before, maybe adding a general set of armor for each level like, pixie for beginner, goblin etc.
That way they know if they only have 3 pieces of pixie and 1 goblin they prolly shouldn't try the Molisk mobs.

The problem is different mobs require different armours. e.g. Gremlin is nice for Formicacida but rubbish for Oculus.
