This game is something else.

I don't post much, but I would like to be an opposing voice for some of the comments here. I have played 8 years without ever depositing and I am now lvl 80sih hunting and 70ish mining. It is possible - it takes a lot of work and time and is challenging, but it is also rewarding so I want to encourage you! I would suggest trying to make it to the SSI event hosted by Big Industries on either Caly/Ark/(is it NI i forget there is one more planet). People will doubt me but I learned a ton at those sweat circles. The SSI reps were extremely kind and understanding and you also get to sell 1k sweat for 2.5ped a day. I started that way for months before making up enough peds to start mining. I wish you luck in your journey!

This is extremely encouraging! Thank you so much! If you had a single tip to give me on playing without depositing....what would it be?

Phew, a lot happened in the last few hours. Someone (you know who you are, thanks again :) gifted me a ship and a thruster, and this is such a game changer! The sense of scale while flying made me stop to just take it all in, this universe is huge. Then I went up some more and got the fabled prompt to enter space and FINALLY made it in space!

Now that the sky's not the limit anymore (hihi) I am on my way to explore a little bit of what all planets have to offer.

I feel privileged to have had this opportunity as a non-depositor and I promised I would find a way to pay it back to someone one way or another, to be continued! :)

See you all in game (hopefully not in space, please don't shoot me :p)

please dont carry loot around in space lol. call rawr or someone for a warp. people have mentioned pirate activity near cyrene the last couple days

Haha thanks - I had that warning along when I got the ship, so I made sure to store everything before heading out :)

Unfortunately, warping is way out of my budget for now

You dont need to warp when you got your own ship 🙂 unless you need to transport loot between planets, thats a different thing.

Small update :)

Managed to travel all the way from Calypso to Arkadia and made it safely! However I now need 10'000 bottles of sweat to get my passport which I understand unlocks some missions.

I was very happy to finally be able to try these Caraboks and they definitely give more skills than Turps did, by a big margin, so I will probably sweat them dry, then kill them until I collect enough sweat. I should be here for....oof, probably a couple of weeks.

It should be pretty interesting however to compare my skills now and after getting the passport from sweating these Caraboks. As of now I have 5218 skill points in total, highest being 1169 sweat gatherer and my evader level is 2.

I will update this thread once I reach 10'000 bottles :)

Until then, I hope you all have as much fun as I do in the game!

There is sometimes a sweat circle at Celeste Outpost. You can ask in the Arkadia chat if anything is going on there or go and start one yourself and post in chat to try and attract more people to take part. SSI sweat event takes place on Arkadia as well as Next Island.

It's like in real life, ask 5 people about a topic and you'll get 6 different answers. pick out what's useful for you from all the answers and word messages and play the way you feel is right. and if 100 people say it's crap, it's not if you're having fun.

edit: updating the numbers on this post as I go until I reach the 10'000 bottles of sweat required for my Passport

small update:

I have been sweating dry then killing Caraboks for most of today. Here is the progress so far:

5573 total skill points (from 5218)
1202 sweat gatherer (from 1169)
evader level is now 2.63 (from 2.21)
2401 bottles of sweat / 10'000 (from 0)

Killing them when they are dry also gives me small, but meaningful progress towards graduation so all in all I think getting the 10'000 bottles of sweat for that passport won't be too bad after all! It's making me grow quite a bit, which I like! It will also take less time than originally planned, however the skill gains and the sweat I gain are quite balanced and I might just stay here for a bit even after getting the passport.

Arkadia has quite a few mobs so far that I can comfortably hunt without any armor. So far I have tried Caraboks, Gallards and those small yellow hornets. There might even be more, so I took another player's suggestion of hunting without any armor and took the heartwrenching decision to make the CDF scout armor set available for sale on the Arkadian auction. If it does manage to sell, even for the lowest bid, it will be quite a bit of markup in profit that I will be then able to turn into ammo to get closer to graduation.

I really like Arkadia, and I promise I will try at least once to find some treasure while mining before I leave (it is supposed to be a treasure hunting planet after all!)

Today's update:

I have been busy today again sweating dry and killing Caraboks. The skills are coming by so fast that I don't really look at the sweat bottles gain in real time so time flies, and I have found Draniie's stream earlier today which was pretty entertaining and helped keep the sweating entertaining. I learned a lot and now have even more questions but I am sure the game will give me the answers I am looking for soon enough.

Today's skill gains:

6070 total skill points (from 5573)
1251 sweat gatherer (from 1202)
evader level is now 2.74 (from 2.63)
3'465 bottles of sweat / 10'000 (from 2401)

I am already just over a third of the way to the 10'000 bottles of sweat I need, after which I should be able to complete the Arkadia newbie missions! Once that is done, I will probably hop into my newly acquired Sleipnir and head towards another planet, or I could visit Arkadia's Moon although I find it very hard to find any information about its beginner mission, if it has any. I am open to any pointer :)

Tomorrow should be pretty interesting as I have a lot of free time so I should be able to keep the momentum going with the steady progress.

Cheers!

Great progress so far! :)

It's great to set realistic goals to motivate yourself. This can be a certain level, total skills, X ped, etc etc.

Keep it up! (y)

I just thought of something that you might like. Scanning the mob before sweating it will give you some more skills though at an additional cost. Scanner is 12 ped from the trade terminal. You can scan avatars as well to get information about them.

Oh! Thank you for this!

After I get the passport I might just work towards that, makes for a small, obtainable and useful goal :)

When i did my graduation on Ark, 2016, there was a fair amount of entry level missions even before the passport (which i think i never got). Im not sure those are still in the game, but they used to reward with universal ammo. Make sure to check quest terminals and npcs. I think its called "IFN quest terminal" or something similar.

Edit: seems like its still in the game: http://www.entropiawiki.com/Info.aspx?chart=Mission&id=1127

I should warn you that this passport is not that great and if you are free to play and might be better just sell that sweat for peds 😁
But I guess you just want to accomplish this task which is fair enough 🙂
I think with this passport you will be able to get few noob items which on other planets you just get for free, also on first few stages on Oratan daily you get some ammo and I think that's it (please correct me if I'm wrong and someone else knows better).
All in all, for me 10k sweat was more worth than these few noob items and also I'm not a fan of long dropship mission chain 😁

But that mission is also required to do other IFN missions and possible future missions as well.

Overall in my opinion ark don't have good noob/free to play/low on budget daily missions.
Cyrene/NI/Dsec-9/Toulan have a lot of noob friendly daily missions with great rewards where every low level player can grow peds instead of losing them.

I think passport is required to get a free howerpod and some entry level L weapon.

There is a series of newcomers kill missions that award a bit of Universal Ammo, similar to the starter mission on Calypso. They require the passport to start them.

Im pretty sure i never got the passport, and still completed some of them. Visit the IFN terminal in Celeste Quarry. It should be there.

small update:

A new friend of mine took some time today to show me around a little bit on Arkadia! I unlocked a few teleporters and he took me to the hidden Smuggler base. It was kind of fun to be able to see in-game what I had read from the Arkadia Story PDF (which is honestly surprisingly good, although I don't generally read science fiction so I don't really have anything to compare it too...still, I would suggest it! It is available from the Arkadia forums )

I was even gifted my first ring! It gives me a small running speed bonus which is quite nice. I will try and soon acquire one of the rings that give a little bit of HP boost as they were going for only +2-3 PED markup and it would help me use my healing tool a little less often.

After the small tour I went back to my trusty Caraboks and continued to sweat & kill them, I will update with the numbers later tonight.

Also if you swunt carabook, you can take daily mission

You took daily insignia for carabook at quarry?

Also if you swunt carabook, you can take daily mission

I did get the daily hunting mission for them, well to be frank I took every single mission I think there was at Celeste Quarry

Progress however is very slow since I am sweating them. Let's call it a weekly in my case :)

I think it's something like 50-60ped cycled for carabook.

quick update:

Today's skill gains:

6522 total skill points (from 6070)
1296 sweat gatherer (from 1251)
evader level is now 2.90 (from 2.74)
5'394 bottles of sweat / 10'000 (from 3'465, just over halfway there! )

Today's Yesterday's update :) (I thought it had posted but it only saved a draft...OOPS! :p )

I am still swunting Caraboks. The skill gains have not slowed down yet (or not enough to be noticeable) and I am getting closer and closer to my goal!

6877 total skill points (from 6522)
1322 sweat gatherer (from 1296)
evader level is now 2.99 (from 2.90)
6969 bottles of sweat / 10'000 (from 5'394)

After getting the passport I will complete Arkadia's newcomer missions and what I will do next will depend on how those first few hunts go. As much as I am eager to start working on some Arkadia missions and longer term goals, the Universe is so big and I have still seen so little, I will probably leave Arkadia at least temporarily and explore a little bit more of what is out there.

The plan would be:

Arkadia -> Arkadia Moon -> Next Island -> Toulan -> Rocktropia and back to Calypso to finish the newcomer missions

See you all soon in-game :)
