A couple of incidents have occured while I have enjoyed myself hanging out at the rig and practicing my pvp (that badly needs improvement.) Those incidents have prompted me to try and address such possible problems via the forum.

Trash talking has always been a part of pvp evets. Although I try not to disrespect anyone, I too enjoy talking trash at times. It's part of the experience and like any sport is to be expected to some degree. I also expect trash to be dished my way as well though, and I don't take anything personal. If you are on the receiving end please remember that this is a game and try not to take things personal.

What I will not tolerate though is someone throwing racial slur's out. If I ever see this from any other players again I will report them from here on. I will not be giving any more warnings of doing so. There is no need for that kind of behavior wether it is in a poor taste joke manor or not.

Being PvP'd in PvP is going to happen. That is why it exists. While I have been killed numerous times I expect this. It's PvP for crying out loud. When I see someone respond to me killing them with statements of "Don't make enemy's" after killing me I think they may have taken the PvP experience a little to seriously. I'm always up for a good fight but comments like that make me wonder if these people realize that PvP is part of the game. I don't go to the rig to "...make enemys..." but I do go for PvP.

Lighten up a little people. This is a game after all. If getting killed or having a little crap talk going on isn't your thing then you probably shouldn't go into those area's. And for the respect of others please keep all racial comments to yourself.

Thank you for reading.

Yes, racism is bad, shouldn't be a part of a Virtual or Real world... stop it u ignorant tossers....

The PvP anger... yes, I've felt this. I'm WAY off uber, I get killed real easy.... For the first year or so, when it happened, I got mad, I couldn't see why some faceless nerd with a big ped card should be able to take me down so easy and so often.... after all, as a lot of people in my position (then) would think, "IRL, you'd have no chance"... etc.

Then I grew up.

I now regularly end the day by getting blasted seven ways to sunday at the ring or the rig... I get dodge, I kill the odd avatar, the atmosphere is mostly friendly... I've learnt some great tactics for when my stats and gear improve that will help in PvP and normal hunting. Personal best kill spree is 4 in a row:) but time will tell.....

Embrace ALL the game and lighten up, it's all good.....

Nice post Coffee:)

this is the spirit! :wtg:
+reps coming

I agree Coffee the racial slurs are bad at times. I have only really been playing since January. I have been to the rig a couple times. Each time killed within seconds. He my avatar is week now but had fun none the less. And agree if you don't want killed in the pvp stay away from the pvp.

And also a good thought.. Racism is the effort of a feeble mind trying to express itself forcibly.

So go out their and get killed it will help you get dodge and other good skills. And maybe you will get lucky and kill someone else.
:handgun::nana:(missed me!)

yeah people making rasicst remarks should delt with and reported to MA, tho my friend came across and incident today were he killed a mob and was Pked before he could loot it and when he returned was Pked again i think that is a little unfair.

Then I grew up.

Or perhaps you became what you hate.

Friedrich Nietzsche said, "He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster."

We don't talk enough about honor anymore. Where is the honor in killing someone dressed in all orange trying to run to the next TP?

Where is the honor is dressing up in orange to fool someone into allowing you to pass, only to equip a weapon and kill them?

We live in a world where people no longer strive to achieve honor. People focus on guns and armor and their professional levels. But what about honor? Who among us is working to achieve honor? Who dreams of honor?

Perhaps our society today is best exemplified by a quote in the movie Boiler Room, "There's no honor in taking that after-school job at Mickey D's. Honor is in the dollar, kid."

Sorry dude, say what you like about honour, it's hypocrisy that's the problem... look at WWII... one particular army held honour higher than anyone, yet committed PoW atrocities and civillian massacres just like the rest........

If you believe that there are such things as "races" and even take offense at feeble-minded racist comment attacks, you are a bit of a racist yourself, whether you like to admit it or not.

The only race there is, is ithe human race, period.

A good post from a very sincere and thoughtful person. +rep coming your way Coffee. :)

Word! and +rep also :)

I believe that there are both males and females, and find sexism offensive. I do not believe that makes me a sexist! I think you are being a little bit pedantic with language there. It might be best to think of race as in racism as ethnic background and race as in human race as species. In both contexts the same word race is used to describe two different concepts.

Racism, and the other types of bigotry shouldn’t be accepted in the real world, and obviously aren’t acceptable in game. I have to add that personally I find the idea of in game racism particularly absurd, bearing in mind we all got to choose our skin colours, body shapes, and sex during our avatar creation!

Peatie.

Sure it is pvp and you can get killed and most of the time its ok, but it really sucks when you have never been at that place and just want to explore a bit and then get killed as soon as you step into pvp.
I think everyone should have like 1 hour to explore the pvp area before beeing able to get shot. Just to explore the first time you are there.

It's ironic how being the same species, Homosapien, we can prejudice against one another just 'cos of difference in skin, hair, pupil color. Compare to rest of the animals/creatures on earth, it seems that we're pretty simple-minded and shallow. :argue:

Ok, I too believe the people should keep their comments in a much more civilized manner even more so in EU since everyone's ava is an entropian and shares the same virtual ethnicity.

(I'll stop there so as to not piss anyone off)

On a more positive note, 28 nations/races? took part in the WoF and I can't recall a single racist incident. The good people will prevail!

I dunno, some of those Argos said "Wooargh" a few times to some people in the team. I thought it was a bit off. So they got shot.

yes very good word coffee it is true

1thing i most times i go to rig i cant enter BAHHH those big scary troxs i think when i go to rig i gain more evade than dodge cause when i enter the rig i try get oil if i get one piece of hit here comes the ubber with eon killing me takng 213.50 dmge way tooo much of my hp since i am a noob (94 hp) with a tango ME how can i gain dodge with that ?

++rep coffe for a very nice words

"..there is only one race, the human ..."

Is there?
I thought there are also animals and other forms of living ^^

"pedantic"?

I think he has a point, u use your fingers to point at others such as racists, and say it should never happen again.
Right, and yet we don t change the things that make one a racist.

Now you can say i pointed at you, and made myself ridiculous, but that would imply, that i m not as well speaking of myself.

Well, you know it's pvp, so expect to be killed, by uber or not. Oh wait, i get it now. Ubers in eon should all gather and escort you safely with oil to the tp...

yeap totally agree on this.. If you don't wish to be pked don't go in the ring it is that simple... There is no need for people to get so angry! It is just a game, have as much fun as possible.

Sure it's PVP, but trash talk should not be necessary but it's understandable ... i damned a few people too :ahh: may they be released of the burden of my spells
when they learn to discern between beginners/explorers and possible opponents :p

"Got negative remarks? Suggest something better. Thnx"
It's the only way forward. Make this forum more positive,
make EU more enjoyable, suggest improvements to MA.

I don't mind being killed from time to time, but like Annica said sometimes i just want to explore, like when the new PVP area opened up .. and everyone should at least get to visit the rig .. for beginners the mobs are hard enough on the way there ..

I think everyone should have like 1 hour to explore the PVP area before being able to get shot. Just to explore the first time you are there.

I hope you filed that suggestion :)

My suggestion to improve the current gap between PK's and participants basically unable to PK for the next year or more:
Implement PK-profession? Or create 'divisions' in PVP? And use this to let people compete or not. Maybe skill total + carried gear mark-up should be the discerning factors,
... people would belong to a certain division/league, based on just numbers, no actual activity to be in a league, more like skills/profession, OR make this an extra activity: each participant can enter qualifying tests / competitions for the PVP-leagues
- same gear restraints would make an interesting PVP experience,
although maybe it should just be one option in the leagues -
... if you haven't got say 100 skill points you are untouchable, so you can explore, any mob is hard enough already at that time, if you belong to a league you are untouchable to higher leagues?
... i believe it could be more fun (and people will shoot more in pvp when they know they could actually kill their attacker).
Maybe it's easier to create different PVP areas, where you can no longer enter when you passed a certain skill level (though gear should somehow be included to make it more interesting, to make PVP-opponents more a match to each other).

If you like to post why it won't work, please wait till you have an alternative/adjustment that will fix it. Thanks.

Time to bump and visit an old thread. There are aparently some people who have missed it.

I agree with Coffee 100%. There is never an appropriate time or circumstance in which racial or otherwise inappropriate comments should be made. Bigotry is uncalled for, yet all to common in the real world, but Entropia is not the real world and we should be able and expected to uphold a standard there that makes it a better place to spend our time.

I for one would not hesitate one second to report anyone for such behavior and comments and I would encourage everyone else to report such things as well. I also encourage MindArk to deal swiftly and effectively against those who dirty up Calypso with such trash.

agreed think il send support case on coffe now:cool:

Well, Not seen he actual insults mentioned.
Can't comment on how racially insulting they might have been.

I was out in my town one night, in the queue for the Kebab van.
Some "Mensa" reject called the man selling the Kebabs a "Paki."
The man selling the Kebabs did not realise someone had tried to insult him ,as he was Turkish, and knew it, so was looking to see who in the queue had been insulted. When he saw no people from Pakistan in the queue, he carried on serving, knowing no fight was about to break out.
Some of us (Me included) had trouble not laughing at the bigot, as we knew the Kebab man well, and knew he was Turkish.

The Bigot got all upset that his attempt to insult the Kebab man had Zero result, got shitty, and got removed from the queue buy a bloke built like a brick shit house who wanted a kebab without all the fuss....

In EU terms, If someone was to type racist insults at me, It wont work.
I have a race, obviously, and a skin colour too, and come from a country.
I am what I am. Calling me what I am is not going to get me worked up.
Call me white.
I am.
Call me English.
I am.
Call me a Wanker.
I have been know to.
Say England is shit at football.
We are.
Say the UK should not have invaded Iraq.
I won't disagree.

Call my mother a prostitute.
I know you are wrong, I don't value your opinion, so why do I care?

Ho hum.

I Know some rude names are very rude, and some are worse than others, but I have better things to do than pay attention to the rude name callings of morons.

This is rambling. Beer does this.

I think that the problem is not only the attitude of players that use rasist comments, but also support.
This is a reply I got for a support case I wrote about a guy who called me a "N" word in Hades C.
Just to explain, my avatar has a darks skin, IRL I do not.

Hi,
It is very regrettable that there are participants that use bad language. However, we have no means to control communication within the virtual universe. The Entropia Universe is designed to resemble the real world in as many ways as possible. As in real life, not all people you meet will be honest and well behaved. This does of course not mean that we do not take action against people who harass other people in the Entropia Universe. If you can take screenshots of the events and scan people for their full name, you can send such information to Entropia_Support@mindark.com.

Kind regards,
Entropia Support

Needless to say nothing was done after that case.

It is hard to make me personaly angry with such an insults, but I get pissed off generally to see them. Doesn't matter if it is racism, antisemitism or sexism. This all cannot be tolerated.
World was silent long enough.

I don't really like PVP it's just scary for me who wear ghost xD

PvP is PvP! If you dont want to get killed dont go :scratch2: I really fail to see how people resort to such insults mentioned in this thread because they were beaten..... pvp is a game, play it, dont lower yourself for it.

I think if you start insulting people in any way due to a pvp action then it shows what your rl mentality is realy like - and shame on you!
