how do they know that a 9 inch waves is a Tsunami ??????

Thankfully it was not a big one but still reporting a 9 inch wave i get bigger waves then that in the bath tub


The 9-inch (22 centimeter) wave was observed off the capital Port Vila, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said. Police said there were no immediate reports of major damage or injuries from the wave

I live in Thailand and get frequently these tsunami warnings by sms, usually the waves generated are indeed quite small. But its always good to see that they are keeping their eyes open
