UK meet up 2009

Ok insider knowledge on these pubs then ;)

Old rectifying house is a nice one with food and is smack on the river front. Great for meeting up during the day.

Weatherspoons is huge and gets quite busy on the Sat night - so get in early if you want a seat.

Those two are sensibly within walking distance.

O'Neills is the one most favour and there is a pub opposite which is a bit "Clubby". O'Neills has an area that turns into a nightclub.

It's a long time since I've been into the slug and lettuce - its not a big place.

All the "nice" food houses are on the way back to the Travel Lodge. All the curry houses etc are down by Weatherspoons area.

So looking forward to this one.

So, I rekon we need to book a spot in the wetherspoons top room and let that be the meet up place as people drift in etc - free wifi for those with laptops watching/shouting at the WoF :)

Who wants to call up wetherspoons and ask them to reserve a spot upstairs for 20 or so geeky gamers??

Need to update the OP with the confirmed people :yay: MONKEEEE

Great Idea! Looks like it might be a likkle expensive though :S But I suppose we won't know till someone rings! :) Have you rang yet Spike? :D You know you want to.

**IMPORTANT**

Can we have more DEFINATES over the next couple of weeks so things can be booked/organised/decided?

Unfortunately I found this week I am starting back at work on April 20th and cant book holidays until August, so i will have to give this one a miss, but i will still be helping TDO out as much as i can while i have some spare time to sort it all out!!

And Xany - +Rep for all your insider knowledge!! ;)
 
Anyone have any idea who to contact at FPC to get one of those those cool prize packages they have? Maybe a sponsorship thingie from them? If Im not mistaken, Nvidea has a special package that they provide for LAN parties and stuff too, you know, the t-shirts and assorted corporate goodies. Just a thought as i really like free stuff and God knows I don't have enough Nvidea/MA/Insert corporation here t-shirts!

Of course I'm going to be there Blackjack - how can I avoid something as local to me as this! :beerchug:

I guess if there is no wifi then worse case scenario its all back to my house in Kiddy and hook up as many PCs as possible there!!!

Ssshhhh don't tell hubby I said that!!!

We will be coming past Brum airport on Saturday, must talk to you about who sits on whos knee ;) or maybe, we should come in a sensible car with seats for passengers.......

Well I did a mini reccie on the area. Need to go back - ran out of time and so didn't get round everywhere.

It appears one of the pubs I was thinking of (well two actually) has been renamed. The Slug and Lettuce has moved and so is now in a much bigger better location and very close to the Weatherspoons and Rectifying house. SO good news :)

Will go back again for another look round at some point.

For anyone driving then - Car Park info - free after 9pm and before 7am.
£6 for all depending on which carpark you are in.

Looks increasingly likely I'll be able to attend. Trying to get as much assigned work done as early as possible to free up time later on. :)

I assume everyones gonna stay in the Travelodge? Hopefully it's not too far from the train station... oh my. The dreaded train journeys again... :laugh: But luckily I think there's more direct routes this time (looking at the time tables). So no problems hopefully.

Not sure what days BJ and Stinky and Lil are coming up to Scotland. I know Dark Cat is wanting to come down for a meet up too. So just incase you are interested in doing an event type thing I thought we could go here if you are interested.
