Undocumented VU changes list

Hi all :)

I decided to make a list of changes that were made on different VUs that was not included in the official VU listing.

Please post your additions and corrections if you have them...

I started playing during VU6.0 so i dont know anything before that time, so any insight on that would be helpful.

I added a condensed version of the most important listed changes for each VU to make it easyer to remember.

It may be advisible to avoid listing when currently fixed or eksisting bugs were created, to prevent this turning into a Whining thread. :wise:

  • 8.1:
    • Main feature: Shopping areas, Bugfixes.
    • Other features :
      Different Service Center Deluxe
      Differnet Unlimited Hardware buildings
      Different bars
      "instant action menu" instead for "toggle stickyness" in options
      Weapon attachments in weapon catagory in auction
      Pavement in twins and different pavement in PA
      Jukebox near PA tp
      Grey glass removed from sides of apt towers
      Shopping area signs on apartment towers
      Mob museum
      Uphill trapping is detected sometimes
      Autorun+strafing cansels autorun (unless you first move the mouse)
      Loot range is less
      Auctioneer range is less
      Info text formatting changed
      Welcome text formatting changed


  • 8.0:
    • Main feature:Club Neverdie, Christmas gifts
    • Other features :
      "Magnification" display in scopes finally back again :)
      Bottles of unrefined Typo looks different (much better) in world and inv.
      Laser sound different.
      Scroll bar like implement in text boxes in soc terminal and some other places
      Description of maturity and description text (same as in DNA machine) shown under "info" when scanning a creature. Also descriptions of scanned NPCs.

  • 7.8:
    • Main feature:Taming
    • Other features :
      PE-Guide button removed in Clientloader
      commercial boards with The Entropian ads
      "Dorky Mickey Mouse Club type sound when Critical Damage is infilcted or recieved." ;)
      "Tubes" on Plasma Annihilators are now blue yet again. (still no lighting)
      Fog has cleared in Ithaca. + scopes look different there.
      speed when removing armor from avatar when clicking repair armor in RT faster

  • 7.7:
    • Main feature:
      Box + Furniture manufacuring, Ancient items :O, Variable mob damage + Crit Hits.
    • Other features :
      Scanner visible when not held in ready mode
      Melee decay when not in PvP bug fixed (but with ...interesting sideffects)
      Some "tron" tanks added to fort ares++ too
      New building/bar in Jason Centre.
      Alien blood bottle's larger when dropped
      Dung looks different.
      Named TPs on amethera (after various players)
      Transparant parts of Plasma Annihilators are now greenish yellow color instead of blue.
      "Color clothes" skill renamed to "Coloring". The word "clothes" is replaced by "items" in all coloring skill descriptions.
      No longer possible to "preview" a colored item in colorator. Must now be an uncolored item to be able to see outcome.
      Different inventory icon for Nexus, Melchi, scanners and some more items.
      Different Crosshair
      "Factory" on TI (new building not a working one ;) )
      Platform/dome structure in the desert south of pandora. (19772x13553)
      Roman Numerals after claim sizes.
      Sweat stack size limit removed. (its some 20k or so now)
      TT and RT added outside in Nymphtown (istead of one of the two storages)
      Map marker blink rate is no longer dependant of you're FPS (fixed rate now)
      Armor parts has had (male)/(female) suffixes replaced with (M)/(F)
      Underwater mining removed.
      "Drill holes" when mining enmatter have been removed
  • 7.6:
    • Main feature:
      Mining/Crafting update, limited (permadecay) items, tutorial system,
    • Other features :
      Professional standing increased for some (most?) avatars.
      Firestorm Chip has lower skill Reqs.
      Sweat cap removed (skill limit hightened?) for some avatars.
      Mining skills gains on misses.
      Must be on ground/bottom to drop bombs.
      No blast marks.
      Temporary PvP South of Hades :p
      Animal taming skillgains temporarily gone. (fixed)
      Drones do more damage?
      Loot windows for each loot type onscreen at the same time.
      Mining Depth, and deposit sizes, extraction sizes etc all increased. (technically not undocumented since it is part of the main feature)
      Female Shadow armor harness "slimmer"?
      Better Coat/jacket textures.
      Different inventory Icons for many things. (plates, mining tools etc)
      Cant equip broken weapon.
      Flowers need to be repaired to equiped. :p
      Faucervixes are much bigger.
      No valid target message while scanning.
      Dung appears in lootwindow.
      Nonestackables show with amount 0 instead of 1 in auction.
      Better textures on some ground,walls,plants,avatars etc.
      Lag when entering apartments and shopcontainers significantly reduced.
      PvP zones are yellow except pvp3.
      New teleport on TI in the NE corner.
      Changed fap animation.
      When you kill a Maffoid it is labelled as a Biffoid corpse. (fixed but ;) )
      Plasma annihilator doesent light up inside buildings.
      Different graphics effect on the mineral extractors "beam".
      No "error sound" from the extractors when not aiming for a claimrod.
      Some mobs seem to have had their aggressiveness adjusted? (Exarosaur more aggesive, armax seems less).
      Brighter lighting in apartment block foyers.
      Force nexus gone? (most certainly a bug).
      Bigger target boxes?
      Male / Female only (M)/(F) text in clothes info.
      No items can be used to 0 TT anymore (Faps / extractors etc).
      Most mutants make a footstep sound when they walk.
      TT Value of items with attachments does no longer include the attached items values.
      Bug that allowed you to scan mannequins by right clicking and choosing "use Tool" with a scanner equipped is fixed. (But when did we stop beeing able to scan them and why?)
      "Oiltower" bug fixed.
  • 7.5:
    • Main feature : New avatar creation, body/hair stylists.
    • Other features : New Look Robots
      Window cleaners in apartments? (2nd time??)
      Queue use action when reloading option in options
      Sales booths in apartment towers.
      Mobs move/run away slower when their health is low (turp etc is a good mob to test/demonstrate this)
  • 7.4:
    • Main feature : Different skill system.
    • Other features :
      Vind -> trees
      Mob herd behavior.
      Sweetstuff has been taken out of the game??.
      Probes/bombs unpickable.
      Feffoid Traders gone??.
      Mobs started running or rather walking away when nearly dead.
      Fap intervals more random
  • 7.3:
    • Main feature:
      Land managment, more spawns.
    • Other features :
      Less spawns at start.
      Spawns shifted NE (first attempt at migrating feature in 7.4?)
      Dual reload of mindforce chips (possible bug / fixed??)
      Different Atrox texture
      Diripis / igni have been skilling dodge a lot :p ?
      Small flightless birds started running again (who knows when they stopped?)
      Auctioneers are now working shifts ;) (was this 7.4?? (same vu as 10 to every odd hour lag)
      Biffoid => Maffoid
  • 7.2:
    • Main feature:
      Apartments, Antitrap.
    • Other features :
      Old oil stacking method gone??
  • 7.1:
    • Main Feature: New death/revival/MF revival/Ghost talk.
    • Other features :
      Low tt uber item loots :)
      Autorevive in RT
  • 7.0:
    • Main feature:
      New control/quickbar system
    • Other features : ?
  • 6.4:
    • Main feature:
      MF teleport
    • Other features : ?
  • 6.3:
    • Main feature:
      Auction update, TI Visitable
    • Other features : ?
  • 6.2:
    • Main feature:
      Team / Hof update

  • 6.1:
    • Main feature: lots:) LG / amethera opened, Speed nerf, skillchips,bleaching, noloots, dynamic. lights.

      Can't climb on any of the bunkers at rig
      Robots always inflict max damage.
      Robots run
  • 6.0:
    • Main feature : New engine
    • Other features : ?


Unknown VU:
Storages became blue (7.1 or 7.2)
mobs stopped running away (7.2/7.3??)
2nd change of amethera map (7.0??)
1st change of amethera map (6.1????)
Full damage or heal is always shown even if health is lower than damage/heal (i.e no more hp checks, but easyer damage stats ;) )
hof fireworks and hof camera (back again) (different VUs??)

Wow- wish I could lend out a helping hand to contribute but really I have no clue... so many little things they add with vu's that I hardly even notice.

Btw, under the 7.5 listing you wrote that the sales booths in apartment buildings were added.... this I did not know! LOL You mean, in the hallways surrounding the lobby area they have added actual booths now? Weren't those already there?? .... see what I mean, I never pay attention to those details :D
 
I think they added those booths this vu?... i mean the little areas (with a small cart/stand (like in hades) ) in the entrance hallways. not the rooms along the walls, those where there from the beginning. (and where also where i thought the booths would appear when i saw that deeds where in the auction)
 
Updated with VU 7.6 ...

Thanks to Fiona Simmons and the others who made replies in her Thread it made this update much more thourogh and easyer :)
 
- I noticed Exarosaurs are more agressive now. Possibly other MOBs as well.
- The taming issues seem to have been fixed now.
 
VU 7.6

1) It's much harder to 'select' (i.e. click on) a player/mob/item from a group. The 'personal space' around each player/mob/item seems to have increased so you end up selecting the player/mob/item closest to you in the group even though you click on another.

2) Seems like when you click on a moving mob your crosshair (or mouse pointer) re-centre's itself on the mob.....or so I'm told by those awful people who use autoclickers when sweating! This is possibly related to 1) above.

3) Brighter lighting in apartment block foyers (really important for the aesthetes among us)

4) I'm not absolutely certain but Force Nexus seems to have been taken out of the game (at least there are no more reported finds).

5) New free storage repair faclility! Some items (and no...I'm not saying which....let MA work it out) left in storage with full damage will sometimes magically repair themselves, sometimes to full TT value. If Marco wants to rely on 'Support Cases' for reporting bugs then that suites me absolutely fine.....but here you are Marco if you want to take notice! I bet there will be a mini-update pretty dammed quick after this post....Hahahaha! I'm taking bets on tomorrow :) Of course it could be a server side 'enhancement'? Do I get a reward Marco?

6) It may have been fixed in one of the latest mini-updates but under certain circumstances (not identified) if you are crafting, after a while you no longer lose your raw materials on failed attempts; but you continue to accumulate skills.....which is nice.



VU 7.5 (I think)

1) Mobs can now attack you, even if they are on your radar but beyond their normal 'radar attack range', if they are already attacking another player.

I think this was something to do with upgraded mobs AI.
If mob attack another player and the player do not damage the mob within a certain time, then mob will start to attack another player if there is another player on the radar.
I guess this was something they also introduced to prevent "auto-fap'ing" to gain evade.

Yes i think so too. It seems armax is less aggressive for inctance. but it is hard to tell.

2: Try to turn off "move to target while interacting" in options and see if this stops ;) (same thing happens when looting a mob, accessing TT and so on)

5: I dont think you will get any reward unless you notify support.

I have that off and it still happens. It's definitely a change in this VU.


Btw, doesn't anyone think that it's really spooky that I predicted a mini-update today? :laugh:

What I noticed from the last update is they removed a music (I liked it =/) and they gave name to teleports in Amethera (I suppose everyone noticed that one^^).

First change seems pretty good. The latter is the worst thing that happened in coloring in a long time.

I only have a few things that look strange since the new VU. The HUD target used for aiming looks different. I also noticed melchi crystals looked hazier maybe its just an overall storage change or individual icon change not sure. When you find a deposit the finder will now have the size of the deposit (modest)* and a Roman numeral next to it (VI)* I can't remember if the claim deeds have the same thing. Thats all I noticed so far if I see anything else I will be sure to post.

A small update when you get sweat but the amount is bigger than what is needed for the actual stack to be x100, it's splitted in two stacks. Before, it started a new stack, leaving the first not at x100.

All of those up to XIV Great have been confirmed by actualy finds by either myself or Silver so I think we can assume the others are right too
