With flash disabled it's not possible to visit the website "www.JamhotRadio.com". Because of security problem now and then with flash it's likely that security concerned players will have flash disabled in the default browser, at least occasionally.

Well it uses a lot of flash so having flash disabled = wont work, and there is no security stuff on it that pops up or should warning warning on my system so uum enable flash?

and i would say paranoid ppl will disable flash.. no reason to disable it if you got a proper virus prog and such.

Imho, websites that requre flash have lazy webmasters who put design before function. Even mindark/planetcalypso nowdays work without flash.

An advantage with having flash disabled is that pages like "dn.se" are workable (ie you can have several open windows of it without the rendering of the flash ads take 99% CPU). No flash also eases the CPU load if you open a website while running PE of course.

imho, there are too often there are reports of flaws in flash. It doesn't have to be viruses - it can also be things like the webcam/microphone (if you have one) being activated without your knowledge (it was an old issue).

As for viruses, I would think it's nearly impossible to be 100% sure you are up to date. Sometimes I get spam over MSN with URLs, which leads to a server in china which sends some executable (MZ...) file when the URL is called - and the antivirus program don't react on that file until next day.

Sure flash is useful sometimes, for instance for games, and I understand webmasters who use it for the artistic look, but imho there should be a HTML-only navigation aswell (unless the website is heavily depending on flash because it's a flash game site).

Maybe in this case htough jamhot has no option, if it uses some 3rd part commercial service which relies on flash only.

I have two webbrowers I use. Currently, in my default web browser flash is deactivated, in the second one it's activated (this is so I can access youtube and such).

Hmmm I never realised that flash was such a problem?

Lazy webmasters, got me! :D

So is something like www.JamhotTelevision.com better?

We could always do it that way, anyway it is a work in progress, and can always change. Thankyou for bringing it up aia.

I just thought I'd well, Moshi designed it, to be a bit more, well, (pardon the pun) flash! :D

All the best,

Jamhot

P.S. Flash lovers check this one http://www.wix.com/JamhotDaddyO/JamhotRadio like I say all still works in prgress :)

Yeah, I remember going to it and seeing a blank site before.... usually it is very large companies that seem to do this... noticed next planet does this as well... it has always been written in the web practices documents to degrade gracefully if you use 'advanced' features.

I know youtube does not need flash on the iphone now, and I think they are supposed to be switching to using the video tag on browsers that support it, so soon should be no need for flash for youtube even on the desktop.

interesting

This is all very interesting news, and I will have to research it. I use flash daily and never had any problems, thanks if the article is true.

Jamhot Television works, sort of. The website works, it's just that the videos themselves doesn't show up. (It's sort of understandable.)

I'd say flash isn't a problem if there is at least some alternative way to navigate through the website, and it's understandable if content that do need flash doesn't show up. It's just a bit sad if you can't use a website at all if you don't have it.

Instead of flash, it's possible to embed a video using windows media player, on the other hand it might work bad on other platforms...

Just make sure by checking your version of the flash player (can be done while rightclicking in a flash animation and then about) to see it's "fixed", and if not, go to adobe web site, re-install a new flash player, and then check version again just to be sure.

"Adobe recommends all users of Adobe Flash Player 10.0.22.87 and earlier versions upgrade to the newest version 10.0.32.18" ( http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer )
