YAAY...Thank you for the video and a little sneak into future things :)

I hope the UI update doesn't change the controls in the game. VU 10 really changed up the controls when it first came out and many people left the game. It took several months to get the UI right again and many people did not come back. The talk of an action bar and controller support is both interesting and scary to me. Currently, the game has perfect action bar support. We can create action bars anywhere and however we want. Not sure how that could be improved.

I agree to an extent. Less is more on the action bar improvements. I would like to see more flexibility, e.g being able to move/copy entire parts of an action bar set (keybind set) to another set.

Yes, a little concern for me too - I play exclusively remote through Splashtop
Guess we’ll wait and see /fingerscrossed

can’t wait!

Looking forward to this and it sounds exciting.

I hope it will be a smooth update .

Controller support! yes please! would be awesome to chill back on the sofa, watching movie while playing EU with xbox controller :p if thats waht they mean?

While the video quality is classic potato quality Skype conference (a downside of covid). The announced features was great and precisely what has been lacking in the game for years. I just pray the codex for all the planets will not be a copy and paste from Calypso codex. That would be too generic and it would almost certainly lower the motivation to hunt on other planets. Each planet partner should have a say in how they wanna add their codex so players can pick a planet they wanna focus on. Maybe bonus codex rewards for X amount of selected skills on X planet compared to planet Calypso? And so forth.

With that being said, this shows how far you guys have come towards listening to your player base. Keep up the great work!

PP codex and codex attribute rewards, new UI unification coming Q1 of 2021, and a new hire as QA lead to improve testing :)

All good news !!!!
One thing that bothered me a bit...retroactive based on player level ?
Would have understood if it was solely based on mob and ranks, but bringing the player levels into the equation is something punishing the lower levels.
A lvl 80 getting more stamina than a lvl 70 even though they have the same ranks on the same mob ? Does not sound fair.

Great video, and yes it's much better than before because it actually has some information about what we're going to see in the new update.

CooL
we have some good info for the new update !

It’s done so when that level 70 hits 80 all things remain equal.

I'm wondering, is this update all about hunting?

IT is awesome. By the way people have been using controllers with EU now for years.
People also play Entropia without any devices at all... completely hands free, for years now.

Which is the future and what you will see here eventually. My beta AI can tell you most things about the game as you run around and tell it to use your different tools. "Kill it", "Loot it", "mine ore here", "extract claim" ect all you need to say to hunt/mine. It even allows for saying grats to socmates in soc channel without touching a key. Ive literally hunted while doing chores with a wireless headset.

I assume this is in the plans because when I asked MA about using this software 4 years ago, they were already using it for VR development. If this goes VR we would have to have a hands free option, and the tech is now here for it. The software is voice attack, and was approved for use by MA when asked directly. It provides the AI like voices (William Shatner+ some other popular actor voiceovers) for Elite Dangerous as well.

I guess when they change the UI they also fix the help texts that have been wrong for like ten years (check the help in private trade panel)?

Don't get me wrong, the general idea of making the UI components look alike came up with the switch to CryEngine, but e.g., the auction house only received new features (good features I may say), the private trade received that necessary confirmation window.

Anyway, I hope it's for the best.

When is Q1?

Soon (tm) :)

This is not Sneak Peek. Not even one screenie of new UI....just forced internal interview to follow some social media comunication obsesion.

All in all this YT movie reveals how MA really works...all is low quality, over enginered and takes to long. MA wasted money and time of few ppl to pass to comunity info that would fill one forum post - done in 5 mins ! Hell, they even have Q&A specialist

Interesting.

Removing the incentive to wait before taking the attribute rewards makes sense, good job.

I assume that the codex-page with the meta already shows what the rest will probably look like? OMG... Looks like it's following the general style-guide to kind of what web-pages were made to look like over the last couple of years...

I don't have the vocabulary to explain this in more detail, but it starts with using pastel-colours, components losing their edges and corners, ...

In case anyone asks, from all the different styles visible in the game I prefer the blueish-kind like private trade window.

It’s all a matter of personal taste of course. But you are observant. There has been a general trend moving away from beveled, shaded, faux-3D visuals of the early 2000s to a “flatter” aesthetic (e.g. Windows Vista/7 vs Windows 8/10). Seems natural to me. Less is more.
