What do you miss from old Project Entropia?

I miss the chatting. No one just every chats anymore. I used to go to Twin just to stand around the ring and chat with peeps. I met a lot of folks that way. Meh...most no longer play...

I miss the square around the tp at PA. It was a great place to sell ores, loot, and stuff on the street. And just a great place to hang out and help noobs. I also miss the chatter you'd hear in the public places. Your ava started babbling when you began to type in chat and you could hear the other avas around you yammering away. Also, when you completed or cancelled a trade there was the "All right!" or "No, no, no!". (Interesting that generally the avas spoke some kind of gibberish. But when you did or didn't do a trade they spoke English.)

I can remember standing in PA in a circle with my soc mates, each one of us in a different country and timezone and just chatting like mates do - that was awesome back then.

These days, I don't talk to anyone. Even a "Hi" as I pass by another avatar out in the wilds somewhere mostly goes unanswered.

That's so true, Arrun. Sometimes I'll want to give gifts to newbies, such as a couple nights ago, I had some n00b rifles and stuff to surprise some people with. I saw a green dot approach in the distance on radar, so I shouted out, "Hey, want some guns?" No answer. I then even called out the avatar's name, asking if they wanted some freebie guns, and again, silence. The dot kept on moving until it was off radar.

And that's not an isolated incident. It seems to be the rule these days, not the exception. I blame the auctions for a big part of that, as they have conditioned players to bypass negotiations, trades, P2P sales, discussion in favor of spending an hour rooted to the ground in front of a brown & yellow-dressed avatar checking up item stats.

I miss PED's and PEC's in Loot, it was less work to sell off loot and no additional ammo polluted my inventory and made it just harder to track your expenses.

Jukeboxes was great, sitting on ground was awesome just as allready mentioned. I miss that "da da dei dei" babbeling all over the place from people using the chat. The new Calypso looks too simillar to earth in some areas now.

I miss the days you was not an idiot using unlimited weapons because everyone did. I miss the old Map and lots of old locations like that swamp and the starter areas around port atlantis, this big shuttle and the area around the TP that was filled with mentors, traders and folks just chatting around. The new PA have no soul, its too big and sterile, and its empty too. I miss hadesheim , it feelt like an old legacy that sleeping and waiting for the day of revival to become the most thriving megalopolis inside the universe filled with shops , landing platforms for space ships, apartments and the hotspot for traders. Compareable to todays Twin peaks just bigger better and more awesome.


I miss marco , his visions and the wool he pulled over our eyes countless times. He was the voice and the Spirit of Entropia for a long time and i wanted to believe his visions would become reality one day. The communication level between Entropia and us the Community dropped very low. Maybe because theres not much to talk about lately.

The drama and meeting new players at the sweat camp is what I miss the most .

Been on Rt for over a year now and went back to caly to have a look at my old house and appartment , but Caly was just disaponting and plain boring ,sadly ..

+ whats up with all the avas standing all day as auction zombies nowadays , waiting to win the tt+1 bidding ? must be the most boring thing in the whole game.

No doubt--like a month or two ago when I logged into EU, in Twin Peaks after a long hiatus, and what do I see?!? Friggin' Ford Mustangs parked here & there!! WTF??

And going back to the avatar gibberish-speak: It was nice because it sounded cute, it was inoffensive, race-neutral, and made no sense. It became like a gentle background noise, a part of the game soundtrack almost. More ideas...

I made a topic on the lack of social interaction in EU, over in the Suggestions/Wishlist section. Should be interesting to see people's ideas on this, and how to improve the social aspect of the game.

A shitload of small things that makes all the difference. There were harmless bugs that had fun, and ppl enjoyed them, and no way it could be an exploit, so why remove them? This little features that already been said about the voices that would spread in the air, sit/lay down and just chat chat chat... I made a lot of friends back those days too, when they gathered 3 or 4 players and came to help me making some harder tp runs to get trough those atrox and such, now you can just pick up 10 or 15 peds and get yourself a vehicle and go lonely... i even had a couple maps that some1 gave me so i could know where i should pass trough on the way, the called "safe zones"... good old times...

It's hard to explain, but IMHO old PE was made with love from those, who create it.
Now it looks, like it made by someone, who don't care at all about what he doing.

Miss old natural shape of continents, when it looked like real life ones, not like now - "Quadratisch. Praktisch. Gut." (c) ("Square. Practical. Good.")
Miss attention to details.
Miss old cute places and all of them was unique, you could look at any screenshot even with only ground/sky and recognize that place.
Miss old unique ouposts, towns, Minopolis, Hadesheim, strange structures around included, broken vehicles, Umbranoids villages etc.
Miss Billton Towers, where I had and still have apartment, with good ocean/trees view (now all I see - huge "cow").
Miss my old furniture/decorations that broken for 3.5+ years.
Miss my old clothes, that broken for 5+ years (and even more broken now).
Miss old cute Molisks, Argonauts and normal small height Faucervixs, Umbranoids etc.
Miss old mining (including underwater one), where you need to put probe/bomb, detonate it, print claim and when you got globe only when last pile excavated.
Miss old beacon system, when you could loose it any time, before you pressed that red button!
Miss mobs without crazy regen, HP and speed.
Miss my old speed of running.
Miss that feeling, what during each hunt, you could loot something special, not just oil, oil, oil.
Miss PED's and items in loot.
Miss whole old Calypso and PE feeling, what I would like to get - 1x1 copy of old Calypso but enhanced with new engine.

But we will never get all that for sure, all what left our memories and screenshots, it was good old times, I miss them

I miss the markup on ores. When you sold gold for 1000% or platinum for 600% or zand for 2000%. I remember getting a platinum 100 ped global which was 500 peds pure markup or my Niks hof that was around 3000 peds markup. Good days.

I miss when there was no storage on CND (thats FOMA something today) and you had to sell your ores to traders or keep them in an appartment. Was a cool feeling to that.

I miss the simplicity, letting PPs in really messed up the feel of the universe IMO (ok, Ark pulled it off I guess). It just became way to diverse killing the strong community feel that was PEs strongest feature.

I really miss loot windows full of a103's and powerfists.

I miss that initial feeling of being dropped, skint and alone on an alien planet and trying to survive from my own efforts and tenacity.

A repeat comment for "I miss markup". After about 3 weeks without so much as a global, I got a 300-ish minor HOF on Atrax with a gun in it. A full TT 238 PED gun, so I get all excited! I check the markup on this weapon, which is a level 95 pistol, and I...



...See a 104% markup and let out a big, disappointed sigh. WTF, I gotta TT this thing because that's all it is, is TT food? What uber player is going to want to use this, if they're already at level 95-ish?? They've already pretty much maxed out UL weapons, so what's the point?

Well, I'd rather loot some items with resale value, with some of the remainder in PEDs/PECs, as long as the latter replaces some of the useless refiners/extractors/oils and infernal FRAGMENTS. I wouldn't want to only loot PEDs/PECs--that *has* happened in the past--as PEDs/PECs have *zero* markup.

When i look back i miss the feeling of belonging which PE was able to create in me.

Logging in today is like coming back to the village you grew up in, still knowing in your memory every corner in and out from years of exploring in your youth, every specle on the small houses, the silent creek of that one chair in the corner of the bar you used to sit on when playing cards with your friends, the nice shady spot under that one tree at the lake where you used to hang out on a hot day, the small glade hidden in the nearby woods where you first kissed...
And come home to where you grew up and realize that some capitalist asshole had been driving through it all with bulldozers to build an off the shelf shopping mall, an golf course around it, a shit-that-noone-really-needs producing factory is now dumping toxic waste into the once beautiful lake, all the nice and heartwarming people who once lived in this once prospering place lost and gone....

I must admit, i was always sad that MA initially created gamebreaking items like MM, impMKII, modFAP and the like (since they painted themselves into a corner they coudn't escape from, and with that forced most of us into a second rate class of participants with no real chance of ascension), hated them for the nerfs, for driving away friends with their improvements and ever increasing taxes, despised them in the end for their doubletalk and all the clusterfucks they pulled off over the years...

But the one thing that i simply can't forgive them is the feeling that they burned down my homeland, simply because they didn't care.

Playing this game nowadays and everyday more, inserts inside us the feeling of going into a casino, or betting in a football game: You step in and every second your heart beats harder and harder as time goes by, and back then there wasn't such feeling. There was joy, and that big desire to login and meet your friends, some in RL, others virtual but real. But i must confess, some things came from "our" wishes and sugestions. We wanted items in loot, we wanted chances of droping those MM, Imp, Anc and special items. We wanted vehicles, we wanted better loot, better gameplay, better this and better that.. Problem is, all this wishes and desires are like a joke i once heard:

Once upon a time, a guy found the Alladin Lamp, and from inside it showed up a Genie Lamp: You that woke me up after so many time, i have for you a present, i will make one wish come true, think good on your wish as you will only have one shot.
So the guy thought on those days in the gym where every guy laughs at him cause of his tiny penis, and his wish was: Genie, i wish to have a penis that would touch the ground!
-Are you sure this is your wish?
-Yes, i want a penis that touch the ground!
-So be it!
And the magic came true, the guy had his penis touching the ground like he desired... Problem is, it wasn't the penis that got bigger, it was his legs that become way shorter...


And this is what happens here, we want something, and MA sometimes gives it, but at theyr way, a way that we could not expect and step by step leads us to this Threads...
Also the times don't help too much, i compare this also to my child time and present child time:
Back then when i was a child, i played a lot with my friends playing football on the street, throwing cards to the wall, running around, riding bycicle and so on.. We enjoyed nature, we had fun, physical fun, contact with people, with life! Now what are kids fun? Playing playstation on a couch, eating and chatting in facebook, twitter and mobile messages.. There is no more that feeling of being young, and wild and free.. Just a sad bird on the cage...

Quite right, But then MA could not do anything about the markup as Ped / pec has a constant value, MA can now control what markup they want and what suits them.
