I know that sweat/Mind essence sells the most - since it pretty much fuels the economy = which also means Force Nexus is a required commodity.

Now to acquire FNex, you need to mine - and mining is pretty much a random result/yield. So the extra minerals are then brought onto the market/AH for crafters to benefit from (mostly those that dont mine themselves).

Hunters are somewhat dependent on crafters and loot found from hunts - for their equipment - but not entirely.

I am not seeing a link to other items in the EU world - what am I missing?

What else, in your experiences, besides ME/FNex/Sweat that are vital to the economy?

Regards.

EDIT:
Regarding influx of $ or PEDs (no matter how relevant it may be), lets leave that out of this discussion. I am seeking to find only "ingame" items that move the economy around.

US dollars or currency for that matter :D
Any rescource that allows a return or recycle!

Heh, I am seeking to find "ingame" items that turn the economy - not external stimulus.

It'd be interesting to see them put ammo in auction instead of tt...like explosives :p

I'd add L items to the list. I wonder what's the total sales volume of L items to date.

*It'd mainly be L guns for me.

I think you will find they are intrinsically linked:)
You refer to the economy and how it functions, there is an influence by specific item (s)/rescource (s)
Whether they be traders, crafters, hunters or miners the economy does not revolve around a select set, its dynamic, and has many influences beyond ... much like the stock market and what is desirable;)

PED (Project Entropia Dollar)

As part of gamblers regularly run out of PED they need steady stream of depositing ... depositing, to deposit you need to gain money in RL so most vital item for economy is you real life money.

In game it would be called loot that is needed.

Atm is one of my worst ever loot periods. This causes me to play less and i know this is true for many more players. My fixed monthly deposit lasts me about 50% of the time it did compared to 2 years ago. Even if i play exactly the same way as 2 years ago. (i gained about 30 HP in that period) I am leaving events like Merry Mayhem and WoF out of scope for this since they are even bigger ped card drains. (Merry Mayhem 2009 total cost for me around 13.5k ped)

The fuel of the economy are the ped cards of people and how fast they can generate a turnover. The more turnover the economy makes the more stable the economy becomes. For most people the ped card empties very fast only a lucky few hit a jackpot and most extract that money out of the economy pretty fast.

Sweat with Force Nexus which combines to Mind Essence is not fuel for the economy. It is a consumable to do actions. With a bad return people do not have money to buy as much consumables as they would like. This causes people to do less actions in game. Actions as in crafting/hunting/mining/buying from auction/trading/.... Anything that hurts the amount of actions one can do in game to much is bad news for the economy.

Cheers

Right after implementation of VU10, EU survived without ME just fine. I wouldn't call sweat/force nexus -> ME vital for economy :)

I think L weapons, mining amps, L faps and finders that are the ones vital for economy.

This question has a more tricky response because even if the tool itself it's in high demand, usualy only one resource dictates it's availability and price. Each of these tools like Apis or p5a or X1, L faps have such a key resorce. It's easy to spot if you study a bit the market. ;)

The availabilty of that resource dictates the price of the tool itself and because of that I think that these resources are vital for economy.

The economy is governed by the script of the game. If the script is poorly written the economy is bad. There are no objects that intrinsically controls the economy. We were at the beginning of version 10 without ME and no one died for it.

The economy is governed by a system of money flow. that should reach all the components, if not reach anyone of them, it produced economical problems.

The basic model is composed for the social class of Industrialists (crafters) working with the social class of workers (miners and hunters). What determine how the money is distributed between its components, are the designs of the blueprints, according to them, is defined if the incoming money will go to the miners, hunters or MindArk. (%s)

The items are not so important as the model and the storyline of the game. If done intelligently the economy works. If not, generated economical recession and everything falls. For example the loot of hunting is atomized while the loot of mining is concentrated. A hunter can receive 30 different things inside a loot of 100 peds; however a miner could receive only 3 or 4 different minerals inside a loot of 100 peds. Then, to obtain a good MU value is more easy in mining that in hunting. Another things like this depends upon the storyline of the game too. If the storyline growth in a random way without economical basis the game fail.

This is only a summary of the main points that controls the economy of the game; and, as you can see, it not deal with items, specifically. ;)

i would look at who drives the economy, and then look at the items they use/need/want.

imho its crafters/pvp-ers and some hunters that drive the economy.

i personally buy L mining gear and L faps from crafters, L armour and weapons from hunters, i sell my ores and oils and other "junk" to crafters, and try to loot L weapons to sell to hunters.

Precisely... At this moment things are just to erratic for ingame economy to have any logic or stability. In order for a few to win A LOT, most have to loose MUCH!

I admit i was glad to be in a ATH team, but in all honesty what is destroying the economy, or at least preventing it to bloom, is the regular ATHs and the constant ubers... Those two, it seems to me, also have another effect on the economy: most hunters must rely on the (small) MU from items (oil in this case), and ATH's / Ubers simply flood the market... A person with thousands of oild, will be tempted to sell them a bit lower the usual MU, and flood the market... For the common hunter, that small MU lowering may be critical. They either have a fat ped card, and are able to let the MU stabilize again while stacking, or they go with the trend and are not able to survive as well as they could...

Like in RL, the ability to produce dictates the market, but when the balance starts beeing lost, when things go bad, they GO BAD... Just like it happened to the world recently, and we're all paying the bill...

And that is precisely why I am trying to find order to this chaos! By re-evaluating priorities, and following the emerging changes in trends, perhaps we can find some way to stabalize the bleeding PEDs.

Well, it's the hunting that's drives the economy in my opinion. Because they buy large amount of L weapons and keeps the crafting economy going. So, there are no critical items that fuel the economy, it's the players who like to hunt and burn ped for fun of it that is critical.

Look at it like this. An up and coming hunter will probably want a Breer M2a (L) weapon, so he will have to purchase one fro msoemone who makes them.
To craft a Breer M2a you need:
Lysterium
Cobalt
Melchi

Later on he will want a M4a and to craft that the following is required:
Binary Energy
Kanerium Ingot
Pancreas Oil
Thyroid Oil
Electropsoitive Modulator

To make an electropsoitive Modulator the crafter will need:
Melchi
Oil
Belkar

So, just for two weapons, the critical items are:
Lysterium
Cobalt
Melchi
Binary Energy
Kanerium Ingot
Pancreas Oil
Thyroid Oil
Oil
Belkar

When you then add in all the otherweapons, armour, amps etc etc which peopel require to be crafted then you see that pretty much everything is critical.

Fun.

If you are having fun you do things. Those things affect other things. And the wheel goes round and round.

No fun. Then you have nothing.

I think what you mean is value for money experience. The question is how much $ is one willing to spend an hour in EU and still have a satisfactory value for money experience.

People are only will to pay so much for entertainment. If it gets to expensive they will go to cheaper places were their value for money experience is better.

PLAYERS!

players are critical, without them, u wont be here ;)

USD ($) is the only critical item in Entropia.
Nothing else matters. Never has, never, ever, ever, will.

ps: I hardly consider ME critical to EU's marketplace, especially at the moment considering it's very limited use. I'd speculate that 101 amps are more important, even before the Mindforce system was renamed "Mindfucked", due to the necessary materials, the huge amounts of TT'd product and massive turnover of the crafters.

Reliably working software.

This has been hit and miss since 9.3....

One day shit works next day you have to relog 5 times just to look in storage.

Programmers of said reliable software.

I find these two things are THE most essential part of EU without those its all too random or in the idiots guide to EU.. "dynamic"

I'd say footguards =) or basically any items which would motivate people to join. no thrill, no depo. anti-thrill (read : long awaited nerfs) after another one and it's strictly towards cash out, not just simply no depo.
