I dont know if this is off topic or against the forum rules, but here goes.

The video comp we had was great, and there are some nice videos.
But i'm a youtube nut and I found this the other day. (link below)

I was just wondering will we ever get trailers, or videos that make you feel like this one does?

Please tell me why the link worked inthe "preview post" but not when I saved?

Would be a good idea for MA to make trailers like that. Also, sound track is nice :)

From Mindark, perhaps. From players, no.

Its particularly obvious that the film is mostly scripted sequences which you'd only be able to do in a world editor, or by using a full a 3D modeling program. Part of me hopes that some aspects of Entropia (such as character models, static meshes, and the terrain) will be capable of being opened up in CE2 Editor. If thats so, we could potentially see some seriously impressive videos. Then again, the chances of MA actually allowing / supporting that is highly unlikely.

So I think we'll see pretty much the same kind of videos from players, only with better graphics. I'd assume we'd have the same kind of camera control and such, so it'd be hard to do anything like in that film. As for MindArk... really depends on their creativity and time spent on making a proper video. ;)

Thanks for the quick replies.

You're right, MA would have to make something like this or give the users the ability to do it. Time will tell, bring on CE2.

These are videos made in rendering programs such as maya and other even more powerfull programs, and has a LOT higher polygon count than what you will ever see ingame, atleast for a couple of years still. So no we wont see videos from ingame filming like this.

would be nice but no i dont think MA will do those ... maybe some planet owners might

Such videos got nothing to do with cryengine. I would love to see epic entropia trailers, but i dont think theres anyone capable to make such grand videos on MindArk. Its totally diferent to making games. The guys over at Blizzard got a team of about 30 people doing NOTHING but these films and ingame cinematics for their games, and they are among the best in the world at their thing.

Actually it's not blizzard making those vids, they outsource it :)

the sony bravia ad, in cryengine

better quality:

Still it's not the same quality, and the ad was ran on a suuuuuperdupergood comp, and was mainly to show of the physics if i remember correctly.

keep in mind this trailer is story line not gameplay.

MA's trailers can look good like this but be actual game play. that will be a plus for them.

Cryengine 2 is bloody amazing. If MA use 1/3 of it the game will be amazing and I'm not just taking graphics here.
