Just a friendly reminder... WoF Team Captains need to be confirmed by 10 JAN 2010 :thumbup:

In a few weeks, we will start talking about the first mob list for Stage 1 - Proving Ground.

I realize some team are larger than others, but don't let that scare anyone... remember:

Serbia won a WoF Match in 2007 with one hunter: Max Maxa Freezer defeating Amethera 33 - 4 :cool: (Somewhat a legend in WoF Lore)

If I'm elected as WoF England leader may I respectfully ask to be addressed as 'Commander' rather than just a mere 'Captain'.

The rank of captain just doesn't cut it for me nor recognises my outstanding leadership capabilities.

In fact I think that Hurri ought to officially endorse the rank of Commander to be bestowed on all former victorious WoF Captains! :cool: :whistle:

Edit: on second thought ignore all the above because apparently Commander is a lower rank than Captain! <lol> but why does it sound much cooler?

After weighing up the pros and cons of WoF I have decided I will not be taking part this year. MA's involvement with the spawns last year pretty much killed this event for me. 2008 was a great year as much pre-planning was needed on mob spawns locations, point scoring etc. Last year it was mob will spawn at these co-ords (some didn't even arrive until 5 minutes before the event start), you shoot for 5 mins, stand and wait 15 minutes for next spawn then everyone fight over it. It was a total waste of time and ped.

As you know I'm also a bit miffed we still haven't received some prizes from our 2008 win (Mugs and Winners Certificates): https://www.planetcalypsoforum.com/forums/wof-2008/123404-winners-wof-2008-a.html

Anyway, that said...

I think it will be better this year. As I understand it, Hurri intends to have less MA involvement this time round and stick more to the normal spawns.
 
Look, I'm sorry about the mugs. My good intentions weren't backed up by my budget. They will appear as soon as finances, erm.... appear.

Greetings Team England and welcome to WoF 2010.

I see from your thread you have chosen OracleKev as your Uberfuhrerlieutenantcommanderadmiralchiefofstaff.

Now your Captain must choose their Main Team and PM this information to Rayne Jade as soon as possible, and NO LATER than February 10th.


***IMPORTANT NEWS***

Firstly, it's NEVER too late to recruit: The Rules are that No Main Team member who has scored for one Nation may join the Main Team of another Nation. Main Team/Support Team members can be recruited AT ANY TIME and added to your squad. While the Tournament is underway, adding or dropping Main Team members must be confirmed by PM to Rayne Jade or Myself.

Due to less teams taking part than with previous Tournaments;
The Schedule has been altered to accommodate the difference. Stage 3 will now be an "against-the-world" Stage (like the Qualifiers) rather than an "against-an-opponent" Stage.
This means ALL registered Teams will have 5 hunts to provide a qualifying score.

The WoF will now run as follows:

Stage 1: Proving Ground: Qualifier 1,
1 hunt, 1 moblist
Stage 2: Heavy Metal: Qualifier 2,
1 hunt, 1 moblist
Stage 3: Sponsored Round,
3 Hunts on same Moblist (Qualifiers 3, 4 &5 )

All qualifying scores will be added to give the 5-match total. The highest 12 scores will progress to the TI-Sponsored Stage 4 to battle it out in groups as in previous years.

Moblists will be revealed after the last match of each Stage is played.

But: I know you're all dying to get started, and want to know what sort of things are planned for you.... and wish to practise too.

So here's the Stage 1 Moblist.

As it stands, this list contains NO enhanced spawns, either by MA or Land Owners. If Land Owners who own these Mobs wish to offer tailored spawns, they are welcome to do so. Please bear in mind that the main Stage for inclusion of sponsored Mobs is Stage 3, please pm me or Rayne Jade with your details and Mobs offered.

Falxangius (Provider and Above) 10
Chomper (Any Maturity) 9
Kingfisher (Provider and Above) 8
Falxangius (Old and Below) 7
Cersumon (Any Maturity) 6
Kingfisher (Old and Below) 5

Support:
Gokibusagi (Any Maturity) 4
Argonaut (Scavenger and Above) 3
Faucervix (Any Maturity) 2
Argonaut (Guardian and Below) 1

Bonus: Exarosaur (Any Maturity) 25

START/FINISH LOCATION: TETHYS CREEK, EUDORIA


Dates: February 13th/14th

TimeSlots:

14:00, 18:00, 22:00 Saturday

07:00, 11:00 Sunday

Hunt Team: 4 Members of Main Team.
Support Team: Size Unlimited, Scoring Capped at 100

For Bonuses etc please consult the Rules thread.

Please pick your time early and pm Rayne Jade or myself. Until Stage 4 is reached, there is no need to arrange matches with opponents, as the first 5 matches are "against the world".

Hurrikane, thank you for officially conferring upon me a rank and title appropriate to my Greatness and one that recognises my past achievements in your fine competition! :cool:

One of my first duties as official England Captain may have to be to declare a State of Emergency and to adopt and deploy radical measures in order to strengthen our squad, particularly with respect to uber avatars. :eek:

For now, I've ruled out compulsory conscription, but I may have to take another look at this option at some stage.

But Emergency Laws could well be necessary as even a Great Leader such as myself cannot do well in the WoF with a depleted squad.

So I appeal to all our former uber avatars who have not yet signed up to do so now: we are only a few weeks away from our first battle and I cannot yet name a Main 12.

If any of our squad have still to sign up for our private forum please do so as soon as possible.

Also, I'm not going to wait until the last minute for any more of our ubers to sign up: I'd sooner give their Main 12 place to those whom I know I can rely on to turn up and do their best and who take the trouble to follow posts in our public and private forum and reply to my pm's in good time.

So this is a message to everyone who has signed up to fight for WoF England (including those who initially signed up as support players) and to those who have yet to do so and are undecided...

have a look at the kind of mobs our Main 4 will be tackling in the opening rounds:

i applied but unfortunately i have to drop out due to work commitments, i wouldn't want to let anybody down during the events, if i am available i will help out on support :)
 
I will be naming our Main 12 in 14 days time so if you think you're hard enough don't leave it until the last minute to get your name down here! :cool:

Only 9 days until I name the Main 12.

And only 6 days until my Great Speech (that I hope to be able to write, heh heh) which will be my last-ditch effort, summoning every last drop of inspiration I can muster to come up with the right words for the job, to try and persuade our missing ubers to sign up for us.

Bump for our Practice Match tomorrow (Sunday) evening.

Now you can meet me at either 8pm or 9pm at Nate's tp, whichever is more convenient for you.

It is important that you try to attend as we all know the importance of good preparation and this year, more than any other WoF, we need to hit the ground running!

Support Teams note that the Maffoid support mob has been replaced by Argonauts.

I name our Main 12 in seven days time: if I don't know your stats and you want to be considered for a place please pm me as soon as possible.
