FYI: Zaro's Ore Mining Log - Amped OA 103

Hi Calypso Settlers, my name is Zaro. I have been reading alot of mining logs from other miners and I figure that I would like to start my own thread. Maybe this will kill you guys sometimes when you have nothing to do

I am going to do mining runs and keep my track here. I will only do Mining. No hunting no crafting. I wear no Armor, bring no bullets during my runs

Most of my runs will be amped and mainly with OA 103s.

My tools:
Finder: OF-105
Extravator: TT
Amps: OA 103s

My Goal:
- Make 500 PED
- Make 1000 PED
- Make 2000 PED
- Unlock Mineral Sense

Mining Run #1​

Bomb - 168 bombs
Amp - OA 103

Ok here we go, first mining run

Start with Orishi, dropped 10 bombs and all NRFs..so I tped to Wolverine’s Hope and head North to Treasure Island. Had some finds there but still had a 12 NRF’s in a row lol.

Got two amps only had two XII (large) claims, which couldn’t cover my loss yet. I then headed toward the very northern part not much luck there neither..

Lol basically I was just bombing around randomly everywhere on Amethera

Here is my claim hit pattern out of 168 bombs (any claim smaller than a XI (sizeable) will be small case o, and anything larger will be capital O)

Mining Run #2​

Bomb – 224 Bombs

Amp – 103 OreAmp

Started my run West of Billy’s hit a XI in ten bomb. Thinking this run may turn out to be a good run And I was right, hit a XIV on the 14th bomb. After that global, nothing found for the next 13 bombs =( Then the run went very very bad..50 bombs only hit 9 small ~ medium claims. Change place to Sakura south. Hope it will be better. It did, hit a XV (Substantial) Narc with nice MU. The next amp was just horrible. Hit rate was very bad.
Moved to South Shinook and the only good claim was a XII (Large) Alf.

Run started with nice hit rate of belkar and niks but small claims though nothing bigger than VIII (medium), not big enough to break even still with markup. Finally got one ample (IX) claim in the last amp. Had mostly V claims these runs and toward the end, it was all Lyst…damn lyst..

This may sound silly, coming from a noob like me and all.. but..

Do you ever do a check before using your amp?

as in dropping the first 10~ bombs unamped to see if the area you're mining is 'dry as a desert covered in cleenex' or if its 'soaked with goodies'?

I've found, with the little bit of amped mining i've done so far, that it's been wise for me to do checks before putting the amp on... granted, one of the checks i did i got a small 50ped global on oil before amp'ing, but still maybe you're losing out extra from mining in dry areas with amp on when you could avoid losing the amp decay at least from checking first?

I mean.. looking at your first 17 drops you had 1 deposit, that would've made me either turn around and head elsewhere, or change direction at least and wait a minute or two to get away from the dry area before dropping anymore..

ofc then you would've missed the bigger hit you had right after that

That is good idea I do change area if the area seems dry. Usually if I dont hit any claim in the first couple bombs, I would change an area. And sometimes it took me 10 bombs to finally find a nice area

if it took only 10 bombs to find a good are it's mean that you had a nice day...i'm not a profferional miner,but until now i lost @ 7K peds only with minining,amped and unamped(mostly amped) and my biggest dfind was a XVI unamped...so i guess i was just unlucky until now,but...this is entropia.I wish you good luck,and maybe i will start a trhead too with oa-104 ...Gl

haha yea.some of my runs took under 10 bombs to find a nice spot..others ..30 bombs The one I am doing now took me 50 bombs to start getting some constant hits...

yes, i did once brought 200 bombs and 2 OA 102s (good for 198 bombs). So I thought I will mine unamped for the first two bombs. And then, boom...Significant Gazz... hated myself for quite a while back then..

Amp multiplier doesn't affect size, I put on an OA 104 and hit an X and XI on cnd, which is pretty much average.

Mining Run #8​

So I went back and use 102 today because I lost too much with 103s. Hoping I can recover some of my loss. Started off with TI north and got a XI and a X, not a bad start. Then hit nothing for couple bombs so I decided to switch place. Went to New Swis and headed west to Orishi…20 bombs with only one small claim…Then it continued to suck a lot until the last few bombs I found some Nik Narc and a X zinc..
