Balance my ass

In retrospect it would've been a very good idea for him to get an imk2 and whatever extra skills he needs to use it properly 7 months ago. Would've cost him ~250-300k and saved him 140k. Another 7 months and he'd have his investment back regardless of what happens to the market value of the gun and skills.

I seriously doubt that, since for example Mirandax is / was doing terribly with uber gear like you suggest here ? As Cybe said 'the result is still controlled by the system'.

he gave advice for what he could have saved, read again.

as for mirandax, she is using a doa which isnt close to the eco of an imk2, it just have alot more dps, mkay.

uber gear doesnt garantue profit, it just makes it alot cheaper(with skills) to kill each mob, which increases your chances to profit...

Question is always how much you would spend for something that "doesnt guarantee profit" yet having risking drop in initial capital invested due to market forces.

Case in point and reason why i categorize the difference in hunting and fapping for a fee. That also drives how we valuate what is "uber" item and what is not in the investment sense and not about which is more "fun"

If you have bought MM at 250k let say u sold it at current price ~180k. Would the saving/profit in hunting be able to guarantee covering 70k difference? plus the amount of skills and daily investment in time.

Versus

If you have bought Impfap at 250k and the price drops to 180k. You could definitely earn back 70k by just fapping people for 50peds/hr, 4 hrs a day and get 70k in a year.

She uses her MM a lot more than her Foeripper (Danted and maxed, not Eviled).

It's free to download and login but it is without a doubt a "pay to (actually) play" computer game. If you think of it as anything else you will end up diappointed.

Someone has to pay to keep the lights on at MA and allow them to post a profit - like it or not its all of us. If you broke even then someone somewhere has had to loose double to pay your share of those costs. You did well.

I wouldn't quit my job and expect to live from returns of playing in a web casino.

Even less when you don't even know the odds of the game you're playing. :(

Let this OP's story be lesson to you kids!

Ps.

I would consider breaking even a good run in current EU/FPC - Calypso.

Hmm ... Your loss is roughly .4% on a 250k ped flow. I wonder what would your complaint have been on a 3-5% . Considering the mark-ups are continuously falling you might have very well ended up with a decent profit of 2-3%. Join the club . The eco players are kicking in as well as the MU-chasing frenzy and offer is getting too big, hence cheap. Too many cow-milkers and less grass to feed it.
And another thing. I remember breaking even being a desirable situation ... :S .
The fact that you "wasted" 7 months of your lif3 suggests you could have done better RL-wise. So it's not MA's problem that it doesn't give a damn on your online time, it's just your poor judgment/gamble on the idea that you can force their hand on an ATH.

PS: For my personal amusement, go for big scips . I'm curious which one of you or Bait is going to give them up first. Ah and a bonus ... you'll be leaving the "noob" league behind and doing some work that fits your levels better.

Yes, I was thinking this was a flaw in the argument. Mjau's argument is that uber equipment saves money vs buying L versions of similar equipment all the time, which does work out mathematically.

However, the key difference is amount of loot. While most people have results that say over X kills, they get the same Y return, I'm beginning to believe this is not true.

After reading many people's results (including Lif3bring3r's and Hen's), the uber, item drops and ATH rate varies wildly between individuals and totally messes up results.

For example, I did a mining run yesterday, 200 drops between Shinook and New Swiss. Unremarkable in every way except for 3 finds of redulite, which has a 750% MU, pushing the returns over 100%. Did it matter what I paid for my equipment?

Player A pays 110%. Player B pays 90% for similar equipment. If player A gets a 10% return, they're screwed. If player B gets a 2000% return, they're going to profit against their will, regardless of the cost, dps or whatever of the equipment used.

While average return may be equal for all avatars, I don't believe hof, ath, good item drop, or uber rate is also equal.

First of all, shooting 1 million peds worth of fresco means you pay 30-40k peds in land owner taxes alone (don't know the exact tax there or your tt return). If you're right around break even and want a little boost to put you in profit you should look for high markup mobs in non-taxed areas.

Looking at your gallery uploads I guess you're using x1+dante as main hunting weapon? You can't expect major profit with a setup available to the majority of the playerbase.

1 million peds worth of damage inflicted with maxed x1+dante at current markup costs ~860k peds with maxed imk2+a204. An uber hunter with uber evade and uber fap will also have significantly less armor and fap decay. Not to mention the extra range of a weapon like imk2 compared to x1. I don't know what level evader you are or what fap you use, but let's say you spend 100-200ped more in armor and fap decay per day. That's another 20-40k peds extra cost you have compared to an uber hunter since the start of SGA, for a total of 160k at the very least.

The best skilled, geared and dedicated hunters will have the biggest profits. Dedication alone helps many people stay at break even, but won't lead to huge profits.
Try imk2 or mm at level 100 hit/dmg level 80 evader and imp/mod fap and see what your results are like. If that's not an option you will have to lower your expectations a bit.

Exactly!

BE rich or die trying.

This sounds good in theory. But a small profit from many players is better than a large profit from a few. Blizzard isn't loosing money only making $15 a month per subscription. But then again they have, what, 11 million subscriptions. Mindark has what, maybe a few thousand, and from what I have seen in the last few months. I would say that number is going down.

So, if they made EU so that you "normally" came close to breaking even, but needed to donate to get the really good stuff, they would probably greatly increase their "subscriber" base (subscriber isn't really accurate since it is a "free" game).

Actually "free" isn't really accurate, unless you really enjoy sweating for many months to get enough to buy some equipment to hunt/mine. But, oh, yea, how long would that stuff last when you loose on the order of 10-100ped for every 1 ped of loot, on average.

I used to play EU all the time. I could donate to have 200-300 ped and that would last me the entire weekend. And I would put money in, every weekend, to play and have some fun. I would auction off what I got that was worth auctioning and TT the rest. Play with crafting every so often, just for a change.

Now I don't craft any more, still have all my blueprints that were frequently bought from money donated. And I still have all my gear, but it doesn't get used as much since 200-300 ped now lasts less than a day, actually more like a few hours.

So, in my case, Mindark went from making $80-$120 US on me every month, to making maybe $30 every month. The only real change is now the loot is so bad that I look at my 300 ped repair bill from a few hours hunting, and that is only my swords, not including armor or guns or ammo. Then I look at the 20-40 ped in loot, average, that I made, and can't convince myself to keep playing. And I am using the same gear I was then and hunting the same mobs I was then.

So you see. When I was playing all the time and being able to play with much less depositing, I actually deposited more because I was in game more. I would find things in the auction and want to get them. Like my apartment, which I sold at a loss, and my fire chip, which doesn't work anymore, and my swords, that I really can't afford anymore.

Now I have to deposit just to be able to play, for a few hours.

Or, I can go play WoW or EVE or any other game. And true I can't sell everything and chip out and take the money. But I can play both of them, 12hrs a day, 7days a week, for what it costs to play EU with the current loot system, for 3-4hrs a month.

I keep holding out hope that EU will go back to the old loot system, where you normally got some loot from almost every mob and you could play for hours on a fairly small donation. But I don't think it will happen. I think they are seeing the world with dollar signs in their eyes and it will destroy this game, eventually. It is already wearing away at the edges.

Remember when Twin Peaks had so many people around the teleport you couldn't read all the names. They are pretty easy to read, now. And that took less that a year.

Wow, this ended up a lot longer that I originally planned. Rant over.

Hallo,

Sorry for your bad looses in Entropia.
Once a man told me, you will never get any money for free or easy without it being a dream or scam.

Best luck in the future m8 hope you will ATH.

Regards.
Lana

I would be happy to go even, so don't really understand this post.

But hey, I am just a nub.

hope you get a big one tho, that is dedication.

...interesting..

And that is why I have downscaled my gameplay immensly over the last 3 years. Early 2007 I decided to sell my best Armor/Fap/Gun and take quite a sum out of the game. After that I have been depositing on and off, but not the large sums of the past anymore.
Since the 20th of October 2009 I haven't deposited a dime anymore. Playing from what I earn with a bit of trading and selling off unused items. Scraping the ped together to have my fun every now and then, skilling a bit here, teamhunting a bit there.

Back in 2004/2005 I dreamt of earning money from this game as well. But I always have had an "unlucky" avatar. Some people don't believe they exist others know for sure. I am in the last category.
Years of hardcore hunting, eventually with almost full Shadow, Adj Fap and iFF8k/MK-V ME (no rubbish at all) didn't bring me more then a handfull of 1000-2400 ped HoFs; no match for the costs involved. Seeing other players in my FL login way less then I did, but Hoffing/globalling all the time when they were online made me believe that my avatar was unlucky.

Since I sold of my uber gear, cut down on deposits and even withdrew, don't let PE influence my RL rythme anymore and just enjoy what I am doing when I am doing it and have time for it made my experience of this "RCE" much better.

Reading this MA?! I hope so, since you lost a well paying customer here who now truly is enjoying this online "RCE" Universe for FREE. Just the way you advertise it...
interesting read here

We can gather sweat and sell it to make profit... uber gears wont help hi hi :)
Loot will always go to other folks. For as long I played that is the law of this universe.
Hurry up with gather sweat to earn back losses.. I have estimate that I need to gather 30 ~40 years before I break even.
Proably you need to gather more .
