Well since no one has decided to answer your question, I've decided that I will .
First I'm going to give these ubers a real taste of issues...
It's called
"The Art of War" written by the Chinese Philosopher and tactician, Sun Tzu. I suggest they read it all and start using their brains (like I and those in my Soc's "think tank" have).
But to spell it out to those whoare either unwilling or unable to think of what to do, I will state the obvious points here.
First off Charybdis, was designed to keep the ubers (Who are on foot, and who like to walk around, or to use TP Chips) at bay with their big end guns.
Add to the fact that the regeneration speed of Charybdis is phenomenal, if ubers are using a laser weapons or even high end gauss or plasma weapons, instead of BLP weapon, then the end result is that Charybdis will regenerate quickly and thus take down targets without a second thought.
The thing is that I've been discussing this with my fellow compatriots in our "Think Tank" (of sorts), and we've come to the realization and all agree that a lot of (so called) 'ubers' don't realize. And this again goes back to the weapons (or lack there of) that the 'ubers' are (or are not) using.
Now as you know, there are four types of weapons out there: Plasma (High end entergy weapon), Gauss (High end projectile weapon), Laser (Low end energy) weapons and of course BLP ( low end projectile) weapons..
Now the thing is that while Plasma and Gauss do hit hard, they are slow to reload and thus gives Charybdis the time it needs to regenerate. Conversely, the BLP weapons don't hit as hard yet they shoot faster, thus reducing the robots regeneration speed. But because of the fact that each BLP weapon does not hit as hard as the gauss and plasma weapons do or even the laser weapons, it would take a long time to get Charybdis down to a reasonable level and take it down.
Also since laser weapons are faster than gauss/plasma weapons, and have less reload time between shots, the laser is the optimal choice.. the problem is that just like BLP, you would need a lot of them to stop Charybdis (More than 12 people in total).
Also support weapons (Grenade and Rocket Launchers are a good means to take down Charybdis, but it too would take more than 12 people to do so effectively, considering that a lot of ubers tend to think inside the box and don't think abstractly enough to see what the solution is to the question at hand.
So then.. what's the solution? Well like I said, there is one..
It's called "Mobile Gun Platforms".
Remember test 7? Where this bot was in an area where it became PVP? well remember n a PVP zone, you can shoot at anything in there, (or maybe the Bot leaders on Akbal-Cimi (read as MA)are testing out a new idea, where you'll be able to shoot at bots, either inside or outside a PVP zone, (But not mobs).
The next time Charybdis raises its ugly head to the ubers.. instead of having 12 people standing around it shooting with "High end weapons" instead have 24 to 36 people in 12 to 18 Valkyrie MK1's, or even Semmfahirs...with each vehicle mounted with either a MRL AV30 (L) mounted rocket launcher, a Ozutsu Ichi (L) mounted BLP, or even a Porcupine MAP-13 (L) Mounted BLP.
If the ubers would look to those stats these three weapons have(and use a bit of Common sense here), they would see something rather interesting, and I'm going to highlight the stats that are perhaps the most important. So here it is the data folks seek.
Porcupine MAP-13(L) Mounted BLP.
Stats:
Damage:
53 HP
Range:
130.0 meter
Attacks:
67 /min
Reload:
0.9 seconds
Damage/second:
59.2 HP
Ozutsu Ichi (L) Mounted BLP
Stats:
Damage:
74 HP
Range:
160.0 meter
Attacks:
44 /min
Reload:
1.4 seconds
Damage/second:
54.3 HP
and
MRL AV30 (L) Mounted Rocket launcher
Stats:
Damage:
129 HP
Range:
130.0 meters
Attacks:
17 /min
Reload:
3.5 seconds
Damage/second:
36.6 HP
Now then.. here's the thing.. The Mounted Rocket Launcher is used as Support only since it has the slowest reload time. It is
not used as main firepower.. (The reload is way too slow..)
It's the Ozutsu Ichis and the Porcupines that gives this Armored cavalry it's punch.
Now then ubers, are you startng to think here? If not read on.
But there's the thing.. Have teams of 2 (24 People in all) in 12 of the fastest vehicles around (which now would be the Valkyrie Mk 3), each equipped with a Ichi, or a Porupine), with additional support vehicles toting MRL AV30's.
"The Setup: Time to think mobile
Here's how you would do it:
You have literally a battallion (24 to 36 people) at your disposal, 3 teams (or squads in all) consisting of at least 2 squadrons of vehicles having either porcupines and /or Ichis, while the remaining 1 squadron, carry the support weapons, namely the MRL AV30's We're taliking at least 18 vehicles in all. (Perferably the Valkyries which carry two people, but if you have the Semmfahi's all the better).
Now then.. have the support team (the ones with the MRL AV30's fire first, as soon as Charybdis makes a move toards your squadrons, begin to open up with the Ichis next to start brining down it's health (Remember these are BLP weapons and thus have a faster reload, they hard and fast hitters, and of course now that you have a vehicle, they're mobile gunning platforms.
Then when Charybdis gets in close, (Say under 130 meters) have the third group (Sporting the Porcupines) open up with their weapons as well.
The attacks of the MRL AV30's will drag Charybdis down quickly with quick hits doing major hits of damage, and it will be long enough for the cehicles with the BLP Arms (The Ichis and the Porcupines) to catch up and add their firepower to the fray.
In short a simple yet elegant solution..
Also because you are not standing around or moving on your feet but are rather using a vehcile which is literally a mobile platform, You will be able to keep the firepower coming in from all sides..
In short, you overwhelm it with mass mobile firepower rather than ground units. (but if you do have additional men who are in the semmfahirs, and you use them then you get added ground support as well.
*Mumbles under breath* Thank god my father taught me something with his military training..
So, the next time, Charybdis comes back? The solution is to have the socs start training their lower members to be drivers of the vehicles, have the ubers in the gunner's seat, or in other words, get the lower end players the cars, train them how to drive, and get your uber butts in the gunner's seat and start whacking it, soldier! (OOHRAH!)
After all those Valkyries and Semmfahirs aren't for show you know. They're mobile platforms for shooting at targets and I'm guessing one of those targets is gonna be the next Charybdis.
But there ya go.. one solution just by thinking in a "Think tank" and thinking "Outside the box"
