Hello,
I have been playing this game for a while now. I have finished the puny iron missions and the shinkiba iron missions. Now, I am working on the Berycled iron mission. I was not hunting very eco for the puny and shinkiba. Just did not have much idea about how to be eco. My return was awful. After reading Mark's "how to survive post" I decided to give it a try. It had help my return significantly (thank's for the guide). I had just been hunting and not keeping track. Recently, I have been reading several hunting logs and I would like to start recording, tracking, and sharing my results. I'm hoping that my results will be helpful.

My set up:
*I decided to buy the amp and I will be switching between the melee and the ranged. This way I can make use of the 101% shrapnel and gain the benefits of the melee skilling.

Good Luck Mate. Iv been recording my hunts also except using a Excel Document. So far i'm up 650 ped because of a HOF. Otherwise I would be at a 90% return also.
 
Your defense cost feels a bit high at ~4%. If you are feeling a bit over-protected, maybe consider switching to a lower-end armor set or do it partially naked. Another option is investing in a X2 rifle + A102 which will give you more DPS and range, but beware of overkill.

Other than that, your setup looks fine. Good luck and keep us updated! ;)

Thank you for the suggestion. Which armor should I try(I do have the adjusted Harrier from the gold beginner package and the cdf scout harness and thigh from beginner missions. I'm not sure how eco those armors are). I guess I can try a new set up(partial naked) for the next five 50ped ammo runs, and see if there are much improvement on the defense cost. I don't think I will invest in a high cost rifle and amp just yet. Perhaps until I move on to another mob with more hp.

Against Berycled Youngs, the stats are:

- Adj. Musca: avg. 4.8 damage, 0.50 PEC decay
- CDF Scout: avg. 9.75 damage, 0.17 PEC decay
- Adj. Harrier: avg. 10.75 damage, 0.11 PEC decay

So, for example, if you downgrade to CDF Scout, you will save about ~67% on armor decay but also take ~5 more damage per hit, which however have to end up as fap cost. Therefore, it is a problem of balancing the two to minimize the total defense cost. Ideally, you want just enough protection where your natural regeneration can keep up with the damage taken, and only use a fap for emergency (e.g. critical hits). You will need to experiment for a bit and find out the best combination.

Seems you are doing well at 96%

Edit: PkmX is right, Adj Musca for Bery Young is too much protection however you never have to slow down or heal, so I opted for CDF Scout + 3A plates this amount of protection compliments my health and evade though the plate set alone costs about 100 PED to acquire, that might not help your budget.

Get the S10 from the gauntlet mission and go naked / go smaller armor and use that to heal.

It will not cost much since it's pretty eco, as a side benefit you get heal skills as well.
 
Too much worrying about armors :)) You can use anything mate with a bit of impact in it, normal pixie, A.R.C Guardian, a few others out there that should be good. Or just use the adj musca which is good for a lot of mobs

Defense costs will go lower when you upgrade your weapon and get something that will kill the mobs faster, preferably before they reach you :D

I would most times at least achieve 2 globals per run on every other run I did :laugh:.

Also 4 runs of ZX amp = 55.1296 of used ammo :)

good luck on puny iron! I used HK110 and naked. Ended up +100 PED, over 2500 bones still banked + fragments and random trash. So pretty decent return on them with that weapon.
 
Run#6 to #10

Went on a short Vacation trip before Christmas. Took me longer to finish Runs #6 to #10. Finally got it done. Run #6, I was experimenting partial naked with heal. It didn't work out well. Run#7 and on, I used Harrier adjusted with CDF Scout Harness and Thigh that I have. I also heal. This worked much better. My defense cost went down a bit.

I don't end run when amp breaks. I repair when I get the text that it is close to breaking. Once I used my 50ped ammo, I end the run, whether the amp broke or not.

For some reason my return has been dropping. I don't know if I just hit a "low period." Run#11 to #15 has over all been under 90%. If this keeps up, I'm going to be in bad shape. I did get the gun and amp pkmx suggested on A.H. for below market value. I will try to experiment with the Xent tech light rifle x2 with the a102 amp. I will use my m2100 with the Sinkardus amp as finisher to avoid overkill. This should eliminate my defense cost.
 
Run#16 to #20

So I did some experimenting and changed my set up once again. I am happy with my new set up. This has further decrease my run cost. My return% are averaging to above 90% again. I think I will be able to keep around 90% tt return. Which with mark up, should help me survive. Really glad I decided to invest the the xent x2 gun and the a102 amp. x2 was tt+31. a102 was tt+95. Together i had to spend tt+126, which is still less than just one a101 :laugh:

These five runs, I decided to take off the armor. I felt that they were not necessary. For the most part it did save me some pecs. I was excited by the double globals during run#22. I thought it would increase my overall return % only to be followed by an awful run right after :( I guess everything eventually just balances out. There was some annoying hunter just shooting up everything really fast and all over the place:mad:. I dont know what weapon he was using. So i had to stay on top of things incase I accidently waste my ammo. There are times where I would accidently waste some ammo because I'm not paying attention. Run#23 was definitely frustrating. I didn't see him during #24 and #25. :yay: I guess these things happen when a hunting ground is too crowded.

I also run out of my universal ammo pack that I purchased on the web store. So I could not end my run at the exact 50 ped ammo point. So i just end my run when I have a few ped of weapon cell left. It is usually more than 50 ped as can be seen by the increase in decay of gun and amp.
 
A tally at the bottom of your runs would be really ideal.
It should also include all of your runs done up to this point.
Keeps your individual runs in check and to see an overview.

Yeah I just meant adding all your individual runs to a total of how many runs done till now & 93.26% returns looking good :).

Camp Pheonix has gotten very crowded recently. I changed my hunting location where there are berycled from young to old. Occasionally there will be a random Provider that spawn. The provider is so annoying usually kills me. Good thing that it is a rare spawn. Overall, it is still better than getting kill stealed at Camp Pheonix. It seems that my return% is still similar, so I think I will stay at this spot to avoid the over crowded place.

I don't think there are much mark up on Berycleds. The best mark up they got is animal muscle oil:( I haven't been tracking loots, so I'm not even sure what percentage of my loots is muscle oil. Mostly are ammos, animal hides, basic stone extractor, short firn board, short midastree board, diluted sweat, berycled claw/hide. I've been checking the market for the berycled claws and berycled hide. Not much sale history for them either :( These are the common loots that I get.

Took me a while to finish these 5 runs, just haven't been playing as much. I got the cdf scout armor and the 2a plate, which really helped with my defense cost a lot. This 5 runs are crazy. Started out really bad, I thought it was going to bring my over all back down to ~93%, then I hit my biggest global and evened it back up to 94% overall. It was the biggest berycled global i have seen. ~40ped! It dropped isis lbc 6(L).
