The damage per pec of mindforce attack chips is similar to mainstream ranged and melee weapons. Check entropedia
Only rare and very pricey weapons like IMK2 have dpp over 3.2 and are significantly more "eco". That's one reason why they are so expensive
The way of the Force has become more and more useable with new and exciting chips discovered, so if you consider going that route, you should do fine eco wise. Downside is that the skills you gain contribute way less to Healthpoints so you will probably end up doing some melee or shooting just to get your HP up.
I recommend you find a good mentor that's well versed in Mindforce.
