Info: Tree Harvest Skilling the Foundation to Uber

I do a lot of harvesting, but no way in the world would I get 120 trees - I had been looking at things through an economic lens only - maybe I should have been giving more thought to skilling as well.

Yea I mainly do it for skilling of course so I am cycling ped for skills just like any other profession. A busy day would be 400-500 trees if I am in full harvest mode.

Although when I am on Ark I don't harvest at all and am skilling other things so when I leave Ark to go to other planets I am trying to harvest efficiently and get as many trees an hour as possible.

Ark doesn't have dense trees so I don't bother cause it isn't efficient.

Well with MM being hopelessly horrific guess the next month I will be harvesting more again. Got to keep rolling with the punches I guess.

Closing in on 39 lvl Harvester

With 60-80% hunting returns in lag I focused on Harvesting some to get Specialist Wood lvl 40 :yay: !

With the lag fix the game will be playable and I will lose a lot less ped so hope to focus on finishing some missions.

Side note on unlocks.

Got 18 lvl Tier Upgrader as analysis is a part of it from harvesting and lvl 20 has an unlock.
I am 29 Prospector and Geology from harvesting has been moving me to that 30 unlock.

So I will continue with my cheap effective skilling if I can't cycle PED hunting. However hoping for the best for the rest of Rex stage 4 and 5.

Haven't harvested much in my quest to unlock commando and finish some stamina missions but of course can't wait to get back to getting some serious Wood! Guess my side harvesting paid off since many of its skill contribute to looter professions being looter is considered Resource Gathering :yay:

Ok so back on Caly so testing my Harvesting and how the skills apply since well I am a Resource Gatherer and Looter is now a part of that. So I will also update my harvesting thread as this continues.

Analysis- Yes ( All 3)
Alertness- Yes
Botany- No
Biology- Yes (Animal, Mutant Only)
Genetics- Yes (Mutant Looter Only)
Zoology- Yes (Animal Looter Only)
Dexterity- No

Work in progress hope to have Intel verified and all the harvesting skills but there are a lot under harvesting so slow moving to get the right skill proc lol. :eyecrazy:

I give up trying to get a single Intel proc to verify. :banghead: Maybe when I repair skill.

Well the big mission chains hurting my PED card lol so I decided to get some good Harvesting in to finally get 5,000 Resource Gathering skill.

On a side note it does seem like a great way to raise animal looter and maybe that's all I am missing for grinding big mission chains

Went from 35.96 to 35.99 Animal looter in a Harvest session. With my skills pretty good gains so Harvesting can be some decent side skilling to add into your rotation if you desire some High animal looter without breaking the PED card.

For reference 2 runs of 8 PH-1's

1 st run 40 Ped cost 39.21 Ped return = -.79
2 nd run 40 Ped cost 39.53 Ped return = -.47

Pretty awesome skills for costing me only 1.26 Ped

I wanted to mention Akbar who is the top harvester in game. I have had some nice chats with him and wanted to link his thread on his skilling over the years. Akbar is lvl 65 Resource Gatherer truly an impressive accomplishment and displayed all his skill gains associated with harvesting so you can see what type of skill you have as an Uber Harvester.

I remember reading this topic many years ago, and as i was on Cyrene a few months ago, i tried out harvesting and really liked the skill gains i got.

I do tracking almost everything ped gained and spent ingame, except 2 things, warps and harvesting, they are just so rare and so low i just ignored them and not tracked

But because of not tracked, i had no idea after 1-2 weeks of daily harvesting if its worth the time, or i just basically pay the chip-in cost in form of tt loss instead, so this week i did a test, and as it may helps for others, i will write the numbers below:

Around 15 hours total
, with Cyrene TT tool on small and large trees, and PH3 on the few huge trees, using 10% skill pill whole time.

436.06 ped tt used and 407.96 ped tt returned, which results in 28.1 ped lost.
27.66 ped tt is the long moonleaf board which is have 198% yearly mu, rest went to the TT console.
also found 300 fruit and a few stones during the harvesting
That 3 basically would cover the TT loss.

Skills, i made notes on first day about all the skill points starting value, and now as finished, checking the PED value i got, by using this calculator http://www.entropiawiki.com/SkillCalc.aspx as i find the PED value to share more usefull than the actual skill point gain, as that is depending on my actual skill points.

Analysis - Extracting, ESI needed: 4.56 PED, Final chip size: 4.10 PED
Zoology - Extracting, ESI needed: 1.48 PED, Final chip size: 1.33 PED
Biology - Extracting, ESI needed: 2.01 PED, Final chip size: 1.81 PED
Genetics - Extracting, ESI needed: 1.09 PED, Final chip size: 0.98 PED
Perception - Extracting, ESI needed: 3.17 PED, Final chip size: 2.85 PED
Alertness - Extracting, ESI needed: 1.18 PED, Final chip size: 1.06 PED
Dexterity - Extracting, ESI needed: 1.08 PED, Final chip size: 0.97 PED
Athletics - Extracting, ESI needed: 1.34 PED, Final chip size: 1.21 PED
Geology - Extracting, ESI needed: 1.73 PED, Final chip size: 1.56 PED

Resource gathering - Extracting, ESI needed: 10.74 PED, Final chip size: 9.67 PED
Botany - Extracting, ESI needed: 1.54 PED, Final chip size: 1.39 PED

+ intelligence attribute gains

Esi needed to extract all of these skills, except the useless resource gathering and botany skills: 17.64 ped, with 1k% mu 176.4 ped.

MU
remaining after the 10% loss in case those skills extracted and sold, total: 358.49 ped

So if i consider the TT loss compensated by long moonleaf boards + fruits + stones, ignore the useless skills (which some claims to be sellable at good price but i refuse to calculate with them) the difference on ESI purchased and skills sold at current lowest prices, would be 182 ped profit, or cost to chip them in.

Divided it by the 15 hours i needed for them, it is 12 ped gain a hour, probably not the best one could do, but sure beats sweating in case you are looking for a new way as F2P to make ped for your gameplay.
As a free to play player, just sweat as long as you can afford a small esi, start harvesting, sell the skills.

Dont forget the ESI cant go under 10 ped TT or you will get back ped instead of new ESI, so it is recommended to get a bit bigger one, like 20-30 ped TT and sell it when its close to 10 ped.

GL and have fun.

you can avoid purchasing an ESI and ask buyer to provide, jsut gather 2500 skill point to sum up for a samll chipout

I noticed on Cyrene, that when looking for trees to harvest, look for trees that are casting a shadow. Much easier to locate these, as they are the only ones that are harvestable.

hope this tip helps.

Always fun to look back in time at this thread of mine. I campaigned for Trees on Cyrene for years. At least now they are here so decided to venture over there and get some harvesting in. I've mostly been focused on other goals now but still always fun to have the option for some good side skillin if loot is sub par.

Something interesting is that the Cyrene TT tool is faster than all other planets. It's 33 uses per min instead of 22. Hope an intended variance but definitely good for skillin as you can burn more tools per hour and with max reload you really rip.

I really hope more is added still in regards to harvesting and think it should be an important profession for Entropia.

And of course this isn't a typo in the item detail, right? ('Cause that's never happened, lol)
Sounds like a little side by side testing is in order. (without any rings, pills etc. to gauge correct base speeds)

Around Aegis used to be an amazing zone to cut trees, it got destroyed :(

Any good areas on Caly ?

It's noticeably faster. I can get 14 cuts on a tree compared to 10 max on other. So it's some good skillin and maybe a consolation for MA having a platform problem for years preventing trees from being added.

With these new tools feel like skillin again :) It's refreshing.

Yea I basically never harvest on Caly anymore after my spots got nuked.

Maybe there are places on Caly that are just not known, or mentioned
