Hi :) ,

currently the game soundtrack is limited to a few tracks, 8-10 i guess.
After some time, it becomes honestly boring (though the music generally is not bad).

I had this idea of adding some non-copyrighted quality music tracks to the current soundtrack, to make it more vast and enjoyable.

My initial idea was to search and add only some non-copyrighted classic themes,
to create a deeper feeling, similar to the "2001 : a space odissey" soundtrack.

Here are 2 generic examples taken from the "2001 : a space odissey" soundtrack :

R. Strauss - Also sprach Zarathustra, Op. 30 (Theme from "2001: A Space Odyssey")
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T1HdRwiANpE

Johann Strauss II - The Blue Danube Waltz
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_CTYymbbEL4

There are many non-copyrighted classic themes that might be chosen and added to the current soundtrack :

Gustav Mahler - Adagietto from Symphony no. 5

Air - Johann Sebastian Bach
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rrVDATvUitA

Pachelbel - Canon In D Major

Verdi - Aida - Grand March

Intermezzo from Cavalleria Rusticana, Pietro Mascagni

Richard Wagner - Ride Of The Valkyries

Smetana - Die Moldau

Four Seasons ~ Vivaldi

Rachmaninoff-Rhapsody
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RgtEUr_n9vM

Edvard Grieg - Solveig's Song
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bR3N1yBEGbw

Edward Grieg - Morning
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rv6-Jc5De_w

Edward Grieg - Peace of the woods
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KgRvjTtrzEo

Modest Mussorgsky: Great Gate of Kiev

Samuel Barber - Agnus Dei

But no limits : why limiting the choice of new tracks only to classic themes ?

After all, the player base is made of various people of various preferences, so -in general- the idea can be extended to non classic music themes, no limits,
just to enrich the current soundtrack as much as possible .

This would add value to the game experience, and make it more enjoyable, with no costs due to non-copyrighted music.

The final result : a list of many many tracks,
and i also suggest to add the possibility for any player to choose/"customize" the available tracklist
, so each player can create a preferred soundtrack :)

why not simply run music of your choice on the background?

Sure, that is/would be an "emergency" remedy if the current soundtrack doesn't change;
just i would like this game to grow and become richer and richer in its contents, so i submitted my idea.

why not simply run music of your choice on the background?

because it's a pain in the butt to get your streamed recordings have the sound ripped out since the tunes blasted in game are all copyrighted, and the copyright owners don't want them re-streamed (especially bad on Monria and Rocktropia)

I really like the idea. Not that there has not been some good tunes - we lost some over the years - but I always felt that the audio / music should have had more attention. Audio is so important! One prime example is Age of Conan - a game not a virtual, and totally different from EU, but they did it to perfection. Won prizes for it. Good music adds immensely to the experience!

Another thing... with the exisiting music, why not let Entropians choose if music should play continously, perhaps even make a playlist of what is available? I seem to get a very very few tunes over and over again these days, different from when it was Project Entropia.

And maybe there are some Entropians out there who can make us some music? MA could make a comptetiton for best tune, or collection of tunes, for some reward. Might be a nice combination of involving the community and get something good for a very modest PED :)

cheers, eras

also, why do we not have the old songs from project entropia as part of the shuffle? i miss so many of those tracks and they were definitely more sci-fi-esque than what is playing today

Well said, and also thanks for your comments.

"Why not let Entropians even make a playlist of what is available",
Yes i agree with you, and i mentioned this proposal at the end of my 1st message.

Now we could even elaborate further this idea :
now land area owners can upload their personal soundtrack in their land areas :
MindArk could let any player upload his/her personal soundtrack.
But, said that, still a great predefined soundtrack adds much value to the game :
it is a great starting point, then -as we have said- it can be enriched in many ways (personal tracklists, created from the existing game soundtrack; or even fully new soundtracks, in this case uploaded by the player)

And maybe there are some Entropians out there who can make us some music?
MA could make a competition for best tune, or collection of tunes, for some reward.
Might be a nice combination of involving the community and get something good for a very modest PED :)

cheers, eras

I like and support your idea,
and i add another one, an "alternative", secundary idea :

I am sure there are many really nice classic orchestras in Sweden,
so MindArk could even reach an agreement with one of these orchestras in these terms :

"You let us insert some of your classic themes ingame, paying no-copyright to you, and as reward we will HEAVILY advertise you and your work on our website"
It could be a great way to add super quality classic tracks ingame, paying just nothing :

otherwise MindArk can just create the chosen classic themes "virtually" -so without a true orchestra-
anyway still paying no copyrights.

Example of a classic theme played by a true orchestra
Air - Johann Sebastian Bach
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rrVDATvUitA

...and a heavily reworked more modern version of the same theme, just without orchestra, in this case the result is at least amazing :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Wmf_APgxkg

(Obviously this new proposal applies also to other music genres, not only to classic music/orchestras)

Since many years ago, I imagined there would be a personal "EUpod" or "EUblaster" that you could carry around where you could load your personal tracks from your local drive or inet stream.

Of course it would have to be crafted or bought from a crafter at some MU for MA to cover the expenses developing it.

As in real life, if you got close to ppl playing their personal music, nobody should nag you for copyright issues if you overhear what they play.

[Important Update]

A further possibility could be to add one or more streaming Theme Radios IN-GAME :
therefore, no need to use 3rd party software while the Game is running.

Streaming "Theme Radios" mean, for example :
1 Streaming Radio for Classical Music themes
1 Streaming Radio for Ambient Music themes
1 Streaming Radio for Pop or Rock Music
...Etc etc

Imagine, for example, a selection of very effective streaming radios, like this one (a free high quality ambient music streaming radio) https://mytuner-radio.com/radio/ambient-sleeping-pill-415914/
With some other streaming radios, for different music genres.

(Note that the Streaming Audio technology is already implemented in-game, just currently used only for the music uploaded by Land Area Owners : what I suggest here is a further step forward)

->A relaxing and more customized and enjoyed soundtrack definitely improves greatly the Player experience (and, of course, the Player contextual level of activity in-game).

The idea is launched and absolutely possible : now it's up to MindArk to study this new possibility, with very low costs for the Company (or even for free , if a proper agreement is reached with the streaming radios involved).

(And, as secundary alternative to be evaluated : the creation of n streaming Theme Radios just made-by-MindArk, by selecting some Songs/Tracks then streaming them)

Enjoy,

Paul
