Anyway this looks good at first sight.

well its is fair and simple to assume people that have an account but play on somebody elses account dont have much HP. Doesn't mean they dont parpticipate in the game tho
 
And seemingly for the first time in many years its not luckbased. If the instances are equal it means the strongest will win, not the luckiest wich iMO finally makes it a real event.

Well, if you can put in repeated attempts it's like endlessly trying to grab pole position - except that it will come down to having the best setup in terms of tiers and rings etc. So strongest does not mean most skill, except in the ability to work out or accept the right advice on what setup to use.

The Germans have two different words for 'same', as in the same type and exactly the same individual item. I expect that exactly the same tier 10 weapon will bring about several top positions for different avatars in the same class as a result of 'lending' activities... I wonder if MA will divulge such information. (nah, I don't really)

Edit: I should point out that I don't mean this post as negatively as is happening in the other thread about blockchains; at least MA is trying a new format here within what they are "supposed" to be concentrating on.
 
seemingly it will come down to best items + strategy + ingame skills, weapons like terminator cannot be used in lower levels
like it a lot, but indeed seemingly - there is a gap between slideware and software :)
some factors still remaining
* internet connection related lags - problem exists for every game, but impact should be minimized @ network & server side as much as possible
* lags due to server issues - should be fixed as seems to affect some servers not all

And seemingly for the first time in many years its not luckbased. If the instances are equal it means the strongest will win, not the luckiest wich iMO finally makes it a real event.
 
what exactly is maximum base dps? some examples will be realy helpfull plz. After my calculation what MA say is under normal average damage used at the levels for the mayhem. With amps , with no amps...the statement is realy not clear at all. I actualy understand that the gun with no amps to be under 90 for example for level 6. And if i put a dante for example i get 102 max damage gun+dante , more with enhancers. ''And prevents equipping items inside the instance using the same restriction''...so...i dont get it. Is realy nothing clear .......:eyecrazy::eyecrazy::eyecrazy:
 
I belong to Category 7 with 225 HP. Unfortunately my skills are all over the place and I am pretty much level 60-65 allround (handgun/knife/longblades/rifle) and level 50 clubs and brawler with mindforce professions around level 30-35, 4 k skills away from 300k

My best weapons are the xeno dagger which is (67/60)x66 = 73,7 dps
ML-35 ME (42/60)x88 = 61,6
Castorian_Combat_Mace_Mk._V (42/60)x114 =79,8 dps

So my best weapon is 18 dps away from the max Base dps

I guess I will enter one instance to try it. and then mehhh. I guess I should have specialised instead of being all round, then I would have less HP. But I applaud the change!




for cat 7, the best possible weapon is EWE LC-400 submission (40/60)x147 = 98 dps
mod merc is also allowed (86/60)x67 = 96.03 dps.

This restriction is based on the base damage-per-second of an item, and does not include any amps, buffs or enhancers. Base DPS is calculated as follows: max damage * (attacks per minute / 60).

Usually it isn't the case, but this is crystal clear from MA.

Your gun with no amps, buffs, or enhancers damage * (apm/60).

If you have a gun with 100 damage and 45 attacks, this is 100*(45/60) = 75.
 
the wording is not excellent, but the idea is that the check is done both when entering the instance AND when trying to switch items inside the instance
dps calculation was clarified already, don't see any issue with it

Normally you can enter a mob, and you can see which weapon is the most efficient in killing it (without overkill, etc)

But if you want a list of all the weapons, simply click search bottom left..

Interesting, it's about 7 years out of date on the formulas.
 
From previous years if you go over a health level does it mean you have to move to the next category?

Likes: you made changes! Glad to see this, been same for awhile now
10 categories - awesome! Break down the skill levels more
30 min instances, encourage more breaks , but still allow up to 3 hours staying in the instance
prizes are given through tokens, so you can save up if you want to
Can start it from anywhere? cool!, might help with server lag

Dislikes: prizes through tokens = just like MeNever said = I hope the NPCs won't just carry 2 items and they will be sold out for ever
Loot strong boxes from the boss? I hate this idea... so pretty much if you do MM you are being pushed into buying keys... otherwise you get no loot from boss. Sucky

Yeah, I only posted it, because it gives a list of weapons with dmg and reload , since Entropia wiki is down atm.
List isnt even upto date. No Kingkong u60 for example.

Ah yes, but did you find a T10 one? :) Cuz I don't think I'll bother competing without a T10, or at least a T8-9

One thing that happened some year ago was that weapons from that Point on were rebalanced: They got better economy but lower dmg/sec (at same skill level). Those repairable that existed at that Point of course continued to remain ingame (eg LR-63, Genesis Sulfury, Vrex 2000 SGA, Electric Attack chips) but new ones would be of lesser base damage at same skill level. And as we know, geneeric Components used to Craft that older generation of (L) weapons (like Rutic Bett and Apis carbines) practically were removed from loot so even if you have a Blueprint from that time you can't (practically) use it.

Another thing that separates pros from the big bulk of hunters is that pros have high tiered wepons, and the big bulk of hunters rely on (L) weapons in events. And the (L) weapons typically goes up to around tier 2 Before they break, while nowdays I'd guess that pro hunters have tiers around 8 or so.

As I told, the best weapon I found at my level (60ish) was ArMatrix LR-60(L) with around 85 dmg/sec. As far as I know I can't use any higher dmg/sec SIB weapon.

Edit: The biggest obstacle would probably be the damage the mobs do, especially boss mob. My best healing tool is XI(L) healing chip that is gone when it breaks, with fallback to VI (?) heal chip (repairable), or 125 (L) or 80 fap (from auction). With fallback to oldschool faps like t4 2600 if nothing else works. Default armor for normal mobs=Ghost+5b. If you remember sacred boars, proterons and beach crabs you'll have a feeling for how tough the mobs might be balanced to be (to be allowed to stay ingame).


The change this year isn't revolutionary btw. It's a return to how it was in the old Days, with the exception that there are more "tiers" nowdays (10-11 instead of 5), and that the tier you compete in depends on your HP and not your professional level (eg Laser Sniper(hit)). In the old Days it was like (level) 0-9 tier 10-29 tier 2, 30-49 tier 3, 50-69 tier 4, 70 and up tier 5. Each "tier" was then assigned, I Think, 2 specific mobs to hunt (there were land areas set up for this with the mobs).

Does "globally" mean it can be accessed from all planets, like Batsim?

I assume it means from 'globes', but not from anything which is an instance, which unfortunately means that vehicles in space do not count, possibly not even space stations...
What are the BS limitations on access?

Also relevant is the question asking about token npcs on all planets too/ token lootability in pvp.

Plus you can always chip out those HP increase skills to move down to a lower category level to where your DPS is more optimum.

Makes me wonder if the soaring ESI MU has something to do with this idea.

(On one point on Thursday night, there were like 50 PED of ESI left on Caly auc)
 
Yeah, i half seriously considered chipping out my melee combat skills so I could compete at a lower category lol.

Looks like also seeing some people might chip out commando.

I hate that HP becomes a hindrance to competing in this event lol.

how exactly is hp hindering you on taking part? or do you mean hindering you on winning? because before you had zero chance of winning as well... and we dont know the creatures hp etc yet so we cant really tell how its going to be

Who knows, maybe this event will actually involve some irl skills and not just be a dps contest.
