Longtooths from Adolescent to Guardian have been known to deal 100% Impact damage while Longtooth Dominants and above have been suspected to deal a mix of about 70% Impact to 30% Penetration (see this thread by Mega for more information regarding Longtooth maturities).
Below you will find some recommended Armor set ups for each known Longtooth maturity, starting with set-ups that will 'underprotect', followed by 'Balanced' set-ups which should allow a hunter to hunt continuously without the need to heal, and ending with set-ups that would 'overprotect' the hunter. These recommendations are made based on what Armors are most popular in the game, or which ones are most easily available or cheapest. For clarity and ease of reading, I've omitted many armors which just aren't that easy to find for purchase, either on the auction or in this forum.
Balanced recommendations made below aim to protect sufficiently so that there is no need to heal, since healing is generally more expensive than armor protection (consider these recommendations balanced for someone with an Evade level ~20, if yours is much higher, you may not need as much protection).
Please note also that these recommendations are made based on information gathered during past Migrations and there is no guarantee that everything will be 100% identical this time around, MA might have some surprises in store for us. Should anything be different, I will update these recommendations below as soon as I am made aware.

I'm assuming that it will be virtually impossible to account for every hunting style out there but I will grade my recommendations in the following 3 sub-categories to give people more options:
Underprotected: These armor set-ups will block from ~70-80% of the maximum damage that the mob can do. This choice will result in a solo hunter probably having to heal or wait for their health to regenerate occasionally, especially when using unlimited gear, which will protect less and less as it decays during the hunt. However if you are hunting in a team, have a high Evade level or a Health Regen buff (such as a ring), than consider one of these options.
Balanced: These armor set-ups will block from ~80-90% of the maximum damage that the mob can do. These options will allow a solo hunter to keep hunting continuously without having to worry about healing (of course that could depend on the frequency of Critical Hits).
Overprotected: Indicates a set-up which provides more protection than is really needed. Although these choices will not result in excessive protection costs like they used to before Loot 2.0, they also won't allow a solo hunter to take full advantage of free Health Regeneration, if that is what the person wants. However it should be taken into consideration that a higher level Armor could very well have an additional 2k points of durability, which would make your armor protection about 1.5% cheaper overall (example Nemesis versus Pixie or Goblin). Overprotecting as a hunting style shouldn't be disregarded too quickly, it very well could be the cheaper way to go in some cases, especially when someone must choose between having to fap, or not having to fap.

Are the Longtooth Young-Old together in mixed spawns or can they be hunted separately? If they can be hunted separately I will split these up and make more tailored recommendations for each maturity.
