I lost it!!

I feel like even if you're not very active, the chat aspect will keep people coming back.

There was an android game I played hard for a while but tired of a year or so ago, I stayed active in the chat room for the group I played with and then earlier this year they closed down that games servers. We still are active in the chat room and keep up with what each other are doing.

I have always thought Entropia should have a chat app for web/ios/android that connects with the private, soc, and custom chat channels in game (not the rookie or local chats)

I am pretty sure I would be more actively involved with entropia now if I had such an app on my phone/computer.

There's always the Entropia Universe Discord which is a chatroom kind of like what you're describing.

This chat has players from all levels and all societies, but there are also some Discord servers specific to certain societies as well, for some of the bigger societies.

I have tried the discord app multiple times and never liked it. The one I used from the android game I played was Line app which is a really good one and easy to use. I was talking about an Entropia one though not a 3rd party one, an App put out by MindArk and tied to the actual in game channels. That should have been done before the gambling app or the new game either one IMO.

Maybe you should chat with the Oracle Killahbee?

Ooooo man I thought you lost your mind, went nuts, went bananas when i read the title so im happy you lost only interest in game. Tbh you were always a little kuku so im sutprised thats all you lost :D.

Anyway cheers m8 take a little break and see you in 2 weeks :D

The spark, the feeling, the excitement of the game.
I don't enjoy playing anymore, feels like a neverending grind that has no purpose. Skill don't matter, eco doesn't matter. What's the point? No stories, nothing new...
If someone has advise on how to get my spark back I am open to suggestions. I can't even push myself to hunt during migration.

I don't mind throwing away money, it's not the issue. I think I don't want to give it to mindark anymore tho, not only because of the gameplay but they can't keep promises. I know this has always been the case, but I guess it adds up.

There must be other people who've been in this situation.
What did you do to get back on track? I'm not ready to give up yet on Entropia after almost 14 years.

Bee

Game was good but they destroyed it over time.

I stopped playing like 4 years ago, still have many items, and thinking if I will sell or not. Just no motivation to play, no challenges, no rankings, no society and team activities...

I've tried collecting ideas, so MA have something to work with yet nothing has come...

Example:
https://www.planetcalypsoforum.com/...-improve-society-terminal-(Part-2)&highlight=

I've tried continuing Mister/Miss competition but MA do not want to invest in such a thing... costing them nearly nothing.

Example:
https://www.planetcalypsoforum.com/forums/showthread.php?220322-Miss-Calypso-2012-Results&highlight=

If the head of the company does not care about the game, why should I.

That's why I'm investing time into my own company instead of EU ...

True :bandit:

Its just a pointless grind to get 94% return and hope the market covers the other 6% or every $150 goes right into the toilet. Yeah, I've lost the spark as well. This whole "less volatility" loot adjustment killed the spark, seemed like back then at least you had a chance to hit something big, now everyone jumps up and down when you get a 500 pedder which is just pathetic really. Something needs to change for sure, less items and more shrapnels not doing it for a lot of this community.

Been playing for more than 10 years and only now i found how this game should be played. And let me tell you its simply amazing, and no need to spend lots of cash, really just need to observe a lot, can say I regain a lot of interest in it

EU hasn't had an overhaul in 10 years and has been recycling content for the last 7.5 years (minor changes this year) and really has a hard time making any adjustments without breaking the game due to the lack of flexibility cryengine provides.

throw all that in with "everything we fuck up costs people money" and you have a recipe for a shitshow. Even when new content comes out, users are afraid to participate for fear of broken mechanics, dynamics, or even rollbacks due to fuckups and bugs.

Until EU adopts a new engine and considers a content overhaul the game will continue to get stagnant. The days of advertising based on users that made incredulous sums of money pre-2014 are gone. The gameplay mechanics and content alone aren't entertaining enough to retain users. This is likely more evident at higher levels where money becomes a barrier to progression for most users.

It has nothing to do with the engine, there is a lot games on cry that are awesome.

Its the complexity the is non existent.

Once we had different ammo types (removed)
Once we had different miners for ore/enmatter (removed)
Once we had a weapons book II with some nice BPs in it (needed components removed)
Once we could farm specific mobs to loot things that have been used by crafters (drops reduced to 1/1000 kills)
Once we had dreams that we can loot some UBER items, even from mid level mobs (removed)
Once we had dreams that we can loot simple UBER money, even from mid level mobs (flatened)
Once we had dreams that all components we can craft, will have a use for new coming BPs in future (never happend, at least not for all, there is still obsolete components)
Once someone said they will shift economy to an L economy, never happened (oposite happend flood of UL gear)
Once we had dreams that EU will get an crafting driven economy (never happened, hunting got the best items)

After more than 10 years now, its simply hard for me to dream on!

Look at other games:
WoW: Blizzard hired economists to get a working ingame economy (loot balancing)
Warframe: constantly evolving with awesome new content making it more and more complex
Eve online: slowly evolving, but meanwhile they have things like planet management and other nice things

If you want to keep your old player base and still grow with new players, the key is that your old players are satisfied by your product so they will advertise it and bring in new players.

To be honest, in actual state of EU I can´t recomend EU to anyone seeking for a new game.

Space lame
Hunting/Missions (boring grind festival with flat demotivating loots)
Crafting (fairly obsolete and mostly pure gamble, with a few niches that are good)
Mining (boring as hell, but best option to break even)
Sozial (Solo grinders mainly, hard to find a team or real active society that offers fun Soc events)
Story (not existend)

So please why recomend this game?

RCE? With chance to get cash?
Invest in RL shares makes you more money!
Trade in RL - operate a shop makes you more money!
Gamble ? Buy some lottery tickets, you have much better chances to get a real win, or go to a real casino!

A lot of ideas have been brought up by the playerbase, during the last 10 years.
Many of those ideas would have had a good chance to really improve EU gameplay.
How many of those thousands of ideas can we find in game today?
Well zero !

Edit:
OK zero is wrong!
We have vehicles and a event list :)

I myself stopped streaming, and more, depositing when MA changed the global value -- also maybe due to the simple fact I was running out of storage space. But I do miss making those stupid 50ped global videos. :)

Never mind the community can't make up its mind, but within one and the same post? Regarding the L stuff and crafting, have you been in the game at all lately?

Invest in RL shares makes you more money!
Trade in RL - operate a shop makes you more money!
And so it should be. A game can serve as a learning experience, but it's not meant to replace the real thing. That less money is involved provides a "safe space" for failing, so to speak.

Its the complexity the is non existent.
It is so complex, people can't even see it ;)

Story (not existend)
It is an open world concept, you make your own story.

I agree there are a lot of flaws, missed opportunities to take in ideas, plain mismanagement and worst of all the broken promises. Formulating critique is more effective with a basic sense of reason, though. Screaming "never... Never... NEVER..." is just childish and renders most of the above statements inaccurate. Think a bit more and you can reach so much further.

Its not a rant!
Its fairly much what I have seen in this game happening.

My dreams about EU changed over time, my expectations changed and my mindset changed.

I still think this game can be a great experience, as said in earlyer post I still suport the game with small monthly deposit although I rarly play.

At the moment I am just not in the mood to play it.

Time will come and you will see me more often ingame again, and for longer than just an hour or so.

Bee

(i did read the whole thread, i feel any of your perception)

I DO FEEL YOU BEE.

This game had a weird attraction to me, Mixed feeling of having a chance to make some money while fucking having fun in any situation and meanwhile my avatar getting stronger in all situation, i was hooked.. gambling and building!
Everything did seems to have a reason, skills toward higher chances of reaching fame, toward surviving your opponent/ beat him in pvp, stronger avatar the better.
Meanwhile milking my wallet, fair enough i could have been in other place spending.
I had 1 sellout after SGA, huge hunting loss to a youth, hard to take, RL needs combo, avatar been stripped, took few years off. (avatar was 200hp commando unlocked, a goal met, down to 130hp).

Today i sit on 280hp, i do feel i dont need to skill anymore, i dont need more hp, i can use anything that handle anything, matter of fact i hardly do log in during my free time, nothing is worth smashing (im online during my work shift where i have time available out of valuable free time, it is what it has become, game waste of time), i still carry some concern about the game and how it can evolve, it became social experience, i wish this dude or that guy or this girl is on, else it's boring..
250hp was a goal, its on my rearview, hunting for big value loot is a myth and exausted i got.
Yes in my free time, i do not even attempt to go to log, 1 or 2hours that i may have playing, has became not enough, you do not reach anything but an ammo drought, no thrill, nothing special, greens line coming in.

(i don't want this post to turn into personal experience sharing typical talk about self).

Alfonso might say i'm a pussy right now, i'll keep it clean for this forum standard..
Anyway you pretty well summed it all up, no deep story, no living world, twin peaks should have been a fucking crater already after it was hit by a huge beem of light, during last alien invasion, that involved new species of aliens and technologies.
Flight to calypso using regular spaceship became way harder with the alien concentration around the planet.
Space travel are highly unsecured ever since, relaying on larger ship is a must.
Idk, add real ongoing event, where success reach to something and defeat put you in a damn situation you must solve.

I agree with killahbee right now, i want to say that eco-system is fucked up, new comers have only 3 way in, sweating , depositing or find a sugardaddy, noob rig was even taken off...

Revive this up, make it hp-limit/ skill limit area. allow the seed to grow in a self secured environment where they can feel they actually win something.

There is plenty field you can explore when you finally stop considering this place as a CLD getting your monthly fee.

This game lack the instant thrill of what you promoted it to have!

I sadly have no idea to provide you to enlight your spark again, it is a sand box, play in the sand like us kiddo, i built a nice castle by the rig.

I constantly tried to give ideas to help the game out, but when main activity leads you no where, this is where you start to find ways out of it. Free to Play.

I'm into my 12th years ingame. I been soft in this post, a pussy.

(SIDENOTE: (12years) People hardly keep relationship this long, or keep a job this long, realise what you have in your hands, a never seen before idea).

Sadly….and it is sad the more I think about it, is the customer relationship and the unravelling of game dynamics. Do MA ever view the game from the eyes of a player, and consider the impact of what they do?

When missions came out, MA clearly stated in forum "well Attributes don't do much for your ava anyway". That was a big punch below the belt for most, when players put a lot of belief into the perceived value of attributes. Then you ask yourself, why then is it so hard to get them...was that statement a lie?

I think about efficiency change, which basically stated if you wasn't running +60 efficiency in the early days you were never going to loot special items of any value. Which basically meant most of the long term community hunted for 10+ years on a lie (well it explains why I didn't loot a cool items in 12 years, I found some nice pets but that's not the same). Worst still the efficiency gap turned out to be absolutely huge between the few top end weapons and most other items. What message did that send? Do players fear using any weapon that doesn't have +70 eco now? Do you ask yourself; how am I supposed to compete with 90 eco?

I think about when more mob HP regain came in to balance that against bigger weapons, with the promise of bigger loots. Yet it seemed to get seriously nerfed, after the players were 'conditioned' to the new environment. Back in those days you could hunt trox on £40 depo.

That lack of delivering the statue thread, says it all. I seriously struggle to understand why MA can not see the damage they're doing to their customer base by not delivering on sales promises. Same happened for Stables and pet auctions, hangers, space ships and Compet 'revenue' deeds, refusing to give it the content it needed to generate income.......Jesus Christ!!!!

What are the players to believe moving forward? It's one thing if your loot is not good, but there's literal no excuses at all for failing (or refusing) to deliver on what people paid for.

So wrapping it all up, these are three main issues MA need to address with immediate effect.

TRUST
BELIEF
PURPOSE

That starts with communication with the player base, explaining to us what they intend to do about it. The way players feel is not simply a matter of flat loot, boring play and boring loot...the damage goes much deeper.

Very sad indeed. But hey-ho life moves on. It's their business, as already said, "if the owners don't care then why should we".

Holy shit, Bee you got lot of people worried, it seems... :)

Seems to me MA really, professionally analyzes what their player base wants. And then direct their resources towards developing those things. Plus few toys for the CEO to play with. That's it.

What have we wanted last years?

Most vocally on the forums - balancing, RCE aspect, the game economics. Not from the perspective of a casual player, from the perspective of "the law of the big numbers" style hardcore players.
And, I suppose the other main theme people wanted most was the new player experience. Looking at the sheer player count, makes sense, right?

So that's what they've worked on these last years, as best they could with the resources they had.
Means, nothing for the people at higher levels who need something else besides just Auction house, logs and the dry math of the RCE. People like us fall into hole in-between those two worlds.

People like us need more talent, more wild new ideas, more sheer creativity in MA's team. Marco was all that in one.
Maybe they don't make people like that any more? I really hope I'm wrong. I really hope MA can find someone to bring this spirit back into game. Would be such a pity to let this fine game die.

Maybe if they finished a project once in a while people wouldn't be so disgruntled. Avatar statues, space transport, stables, housing, resource gathering, .... all half assed turds.

All they do is chase the next big fad. First pokemon, then ready player one and now bitcoins; all done poorly and in a hurry. Compet is a total failure, the enigma event was a bug fest and deeptoken will be the next fail if it isn't already.

That's why I created this thread (plus support case) but they don't care at all.

The problem is lack of direction, all the other little problems and quirks would be solved slowly if only mindark focused once and for all.

The last implementation of the looter skills also fucked a lot of people over, whatever percentage of loot is affected by them I assure you is not in addition to the return we had before. Which means that loot returns for most people went to shit with the new skills. Another fine example of "good on paper" adjustments that they don't plan at all.

With the lack of focus from MindArk comes the lack of interest from the playerbase.

many people created many threads here over time, but in the very end, this is just a forum of a rather crappy planet in this universe that got mashed up a few times over the years.

i really wish there would be more kind of official communication, but the honest truth observed by me is, that there is close to none.

vote booths are a fucking lie, and so is our presivative. the cake is dry and bitter, and the beer delivery is expected for 2029. better get beer-ICO-tokens while you still can!

Very true. Case in point. Remember the stress tests at PA and how this was going to help MA make the lag less and the play better ? Does anyone remember anything changing ? I did not except MA got bunch of players burning ammo and as I recall very little loot.

I think the reason that MA does not even try to defend themselves is their position is in-defensible and without reason.

But even with all of that I still like to play but get very irritated as the lack of care that MA has for its players. What has it been two or three years and we still have shutter on dead mobs ?

Foggy brain syndrome lol. Watch some telly to bore yourself out, then get back to gaming. Works wonders

I felt similar several years ago, took a break. Now every time i come back to have a look, same problems seem to be present.

No problem let's build a time machine and go back to 2003.

Where can I find d a DeLorean?!?.....

I lost the feeling since 2010. Tried for years to try and feel it again, bought alot of high gear and etc. But the excitement never came back as it was.

The only good feeling I still get is when I help new players, there's alot these days, but they just disappear.

Old friends of years past help also.

Well, to be honest, I wouldn't want to go back to entropia 2003.
I think entropia did progress. But the problem with progression is, that not all the players did progress.
They're stuck in the previous decade.

I have to admit, I also had a break from 2012 to 2016. Only logging in to keep account alive and to check my deed revenues.
When I came back again in 2016 it felt like a new game again. So much new stuff to discover again. Still haven't seen it all.

I think it's absolutely normal and healthy that after 10 years you might need a brake.

probably since they haven't released much content in a while, you can always just slow down your playtime and hope they'll release a nice update eventually, and give it another shot then

True. But when you have everything and can do anything, the verse becomes so very small. And yes it can become boring too. But what Wizz said. Taking a break from the platform is very good :) It helps. And saves money :)

Yes .. exact the same!

Reached many things.....unlocks, LVL100+, decent gear but the fun is gone.
