Simple idea - rather than chasing after these fad business ventures like mobile apps, crypto currencies...etc. have you ever considered just launching a sequel to Entropia Universe? You already have everything needed to leverage a successful launch of a sequel.
Imagine a new Entropia with exciting new features like:
Perhaps the biggest advantage to this is that it frees you up to make changes in this new game without the backlash associate with trying to make big changes to the existing Entropia platform. Those that prefer Entropia Universe as it is can continue to play here or they can choose to try a new experience even using their existing avatars.
You have hundreds of free suggestions on this forum for things you could choose to implement in a sequel to Entropia. Rather than making radical changes to the current platform and risk alienating the existing loyal player base, an entirely new MMO gives you the freedom to take all the suggestions you've gotten over the years and what you've personally learned with the whole "Project Entropia" platform and apply it to something new and exciting.
Just my thoughts anyways.
Imagine a new Entropia with exciting new features like:
- Fresh new action combat system where your personal playing ability matters. No more hot key mashing, you actually control your avatar in 1st person and need to out flank enemies and hit them in key vulnerable areas using a combination of special attacks, elemental weapons and avatar skills to take them down faster and cheaper.
- Real Cash Economy meets Virtual Cash Economy. The idea of a game that is 100% backed by real cash where everything you do has a real cash attached to it sounds great on paper but falls apart on scale when it's in practice. There are several ways that something like this can be implemented such as having the ability to conduct trade on anything in either real cash or virtual cash (not backed by USD). I'll spare putting out all the details of how this can be executed but there are ways you can have real cash be a part of the game without it being the sole focus. Done right it still gives people the enticement from being able to make money without inherently excluding those that don't have a lot to put into the game thus stunting player growth and user retention.
- Allow existing avatars to travel between the two games. You already have access to an email list of millions of user accounts with Entropia that you can tap into to kick start growth of a sequel to this game. One email blast boasting the two above key points and that people can log in using their existing accounts and transfer their avatars over (skills, money, clothes, maybe not gear though depending) will probably be well received enough for older accounts to at least try the game out especially if people's #1 reason for quitting in the first place is due to Entropia high cost at mid to late game and the associated losses with playing.
