Simple idea - rather than chasing after these fad business ventures like mobile apps, crypto currencies...etc. have you ever considered just launching a sequel to Entropia Universe? You already have everything needed to leverage a successful launch of a sequel.

Imagine a new Entropia with exciting new features like:

  • Fresh new action combat system where your personal playing ability matters. No more hot key mashing, you actually control your avatar in 1st person and need to out flank enemies and hit them in key vulnerable areas using a combination of special attacks, elemental weapons and avatar skills to take them down faster and cheaper.
  • Real Cash Economy meets Virtual Cash Economy. The idea of a game that is 100% backed by real cash where everything you do has a real cash attached to it sounds great on paper but falls apart on scale when it's in practice. There are several ways that something like this can be implemented such as having the ability to conduct trade on anything in either real cash or virtual cash (not backed by USD). I'll spare putting out all the details of how this can be executed but there are ways you can have real cash be a part of the game without it being the sole focus. Done right it still gives people the enticement from being able to make money without inherently excluding those that don't have a lot to put into the game thus stunting player growth and user retention.
  • Allow existing avatars to travel between the two games. You already have access to an email list of millions of user accounts with Entropia that you can tap into to kick start growth of a sequel to this game. One email blast boasting the two above key points and that people can log in using their existing accounts and transfer their avatars over (skills, money, clothes, maybe not gear though depending) will probably be well received enough for older accounts to at least try the game out especially if people's #1 reason for quitting in the first place is due to Entropia high cost at mid to late game and the associated losses with playing.

Perhaps the biggest advantage to this is that it frees you up to make changes in this new game without the backlash associate with trying to make big changes to the existing Entropia platform. Those that prefer Entropia Universe as it is can continue to play here or they can choose to try a new experience even using their existing avatars.

You have hundreds of free suggestions on this forum for things you could choose to implement in a sequel to Entropia. Rather than making radical changes to the current platform and risk alienating the existing loyal player base, an entirely new MMO gives you the freedom to take all the suggestions you've gotten over the years and what you've personally learned with the whole "Project Entropia" platform and apply it to something new and exciting.

Just my thoughts anyways.

or just expand/upgrade entropia universe :D

I fully agree with jambon that you should focus entirely on entropia...

or just expand/upgrade entropia universe

The whole idea is a new platform so they can cast off the stigma around this MMO and the tainted opinion many have towards it. A blank new canvas to which they can come up with something new from scratch rather than trying to radically change/improve the existing platform. A new platform is more likely to receive press as well (such as reviews) than a game that's like 15 years old, has been reviewed negatively many times and quite frankly hasn't had any significant improvements or news in a long time. Hell, they are still riding on the "news" of having the most expensive virtual items sold way back when ND bought the asteroid. lol

As far as I'm concerned the only news surrounding Entropia that anyone would really care about hearing these days (outside the community) would either be that Entropia was shut down or that they launched a sequel. These occasional "news" posts about so-and-so looting $5000 doesn't raise eyebrows as much as it used to. It's like "yeah ok, so people once in a while win a few bucks in there just like a casino - what else is new? It still cost $1000 USD for a half decent gun at mid-level? Pass."

As with the existing Entropia they are to a point now where change is very difficult. Everyone is set in their ways and the community is often divided on what the core gameplay of Entropia should be. For every move MA makes regarding EU there is a group that bitches about it. I challenge you to find 1 thing they have done that the community fully approves of and agree was an amazing idea done perfectly with no room for improvement.

I should mention as well that I think they should continue to develop the original Entropia platform at the same time as this new one until such time is makes sense they wind things down on the original (if that time ever comes). I'm definitely not saying they should walk away from the current platform any time soon.

Bottom line, I think the sooner Mindark just accepts and embraces that they are a game company the happier and more profitable they will be.

One can only hope. But they are also well known for starting many little side-projects in Entropia and seeing none through to completion.

talk to Neverdie or MMA Bigshowoff...

The main issue of entropia is bad customer communication, slow customer service and noone working exclusively on process optimization for communication/feedback/bugfixes/quick upgrades/vacation coverage - these are all things that are unrelated to the platform...

PS: Still waiting for my avatar statue bought in jan2016 and my promised spaceship features payed for in 2011 as well as promised space features from 2011,2012,2013,2015,2016,2017...
PSS: Still no state of the universe for 2018 (15th anniversary)

So MA has all that negative reviews and EU isn't polished yet and a lot of promised/announced content hasn't been delivered.
Pretty certain many players would be sceptical towards EU2 ("fool me once...") and it would just end in a money sinkhole for MA...

Exactly this, MA shows no effort in actually trying to work with the community or even improve the game at all. They most definitely do not care what we think as long as people keep buying more deeds or whatever half assed idea they come up with next.

Sometimes I imagine about how cool it would be if the game play of Entropia was more like Destiny, with the space aspect more like Everspace.

My sky has not been falling.

With all do respect this would be another side project.

Please , Please continue to focus on THIS game , markup is returning.

Loot 2.0 was a radical change but it , plus Armatrix is starting to take hold , only add systems related to returning markup.

Make Entropia Great Again (MEGA) by sticking to the current plan.

Space needs to be addressed , that is a must as well.

Even compet could be fixed if you just link Entropia with Compet , nothing radical to start just something basic.

Cooperate with Planet Partners , these are not just your business partners , they are your players that believed in you and invested in you.

Do not allow planet partners to destroy what Armatrix has created , protect markup by allowing them to create if they choose , the same equal proportion of materials that will drive markup on their planets. Nothing with 200 Efficiency or anything that makes it the only logical choice to use.

DO NOT LOSE FOCUS .. DO NOT LOSE FOCUS .. STAY THE COURSE !!!

The idea is not bad but quite unnecessary under current circumstances as per my opinion. If EU has stigma associated with it, it also has a cult following too. Most importantly, they should not sell stuff by promising things before they are implemented as when implementation issues are faced, you don't need to have your back towards the wall and leave the paying customers out in the lurch.

People are not here to get the best in pvp or the best in any particular category of gaming but mostly because of the realism of rce which no other game on planet has been able to emulate. Playing to that strength and working on improving the product should be priority followed by marketing it.

i've supported a combat system like Xenoblade for a little while now, would be well suited to faster play with special attacks that could be unlocked with your hit and damage skills

note this game is basically Entropia with mechs and no RCE

When MA release a halfass product and just drop it out there thinking that players will grind on it to pay the bills while they pretend to develop it.

When that comes after 36 - 48 months or trying to keep people grinding in the current product with no addition and as close as possible to 0 maintenance.

When PPs are screwed and have to either ground up redevelop or give up on MA and quit.

When all of that happens, you will have seen this idea to it's fruition, and we will all be free of our EU 'addiction'.

TBF maybe it's a good idea.

copy and paste the game into unreal engine will already be a good evolution

Rather than inventing new games, or taking suggestions for people who, either barely ever play, or (cough) only really play because of big lucky 6 digit ATH's in the first place. How about we keep it the same and you can move on to whatever idea you think is better. Not everyone will win, and those who do spent a lot of time effort and money to get there.

Many of us have developed our investments over many years here. To suggest these kinds of things are silly considering that the game is propped up by peoples attachment to their investments in-game, without that aspect, this would have died long ago, and so would any new attempt that has no pre-investment in place.

No is not. About there is no copy and past possible. I'm a unreal game developer in RL. Port a game from one to an other engine is not so easy like just copy past, especial not from Entropias customized engine to Unreal.

They would need to start from scrach to build all the server and client stuff. The only thing they could easy use are the models, in most cases. But also there they would need to make all animation new and also animation code for the character models and animals.

I think, if there would be just a copy past, EU would be since a while on Unreal Engine, about MA like that engine too.

And there is an other problem too. Unreal engine is not build to make large MMO games, basicaly. So if you want make a big MMO with this engine, you need to write a own Server system to handle the MMO with server traveling and all that stuff. All Unreal MMO games use server systems, writen by the game companies and customer's it self.
