    Weapons for an absolute newbee

    Hi
I'm absolute newbee and I know allmost nothing
At the moment I'm at fort Troy. But when I get outside, I'll be killed by some psychotic fouls.
I shoot again and again but without result, I die ...
I have only EVE EP-1 NEUTRON. That weapon is maybe nothing worth here?
    Should I buy another weapon?
    I'm stuck right now ...

You should use the Teleporter and go to either Camp Icarus or Port Atlantis and hunt the Punys there, that gun should be fine for those.

If you want some more suggestions of good newb weapons, here's a few:

    - Barbarella you can get from Entropia Webshop
    - Sollomate Opalo you can get from other players in game or shops in game
    - If you go hunt the Prototype drones at Orthos Oil Well, you will loot Rubios and Azuros, which are ok for now
    - Level 5 Ozpyn Chon S1X1 is pretty popular unlimited gun for beginners (not recommended if you are still level 1)

    Good luck o/

If you are at troy cross to the isle of troy and go to top of hill. Last hunts I had there there seemed to be more fruit there than elsewhere for some reason

Also, if you get over on cyrene the maze hammers recently lost a bunch of weight.

    oh and....

Seeing as the original thread and post can no longer be edited and the thread generated a lot of interesting dialogue I thought as I am returning to the game I would kick start this project again.

I am going to try to make this thread more concise but also read almost like a guide for new players who want to learn about hunting, whilst learning other important aspects to this game.

    Weapons - Offence

Here is a table of all the best weapon setups available for a beginner!
Weapon Name Amplifier Decay Ammo Cost DPP Range Hits DPS
    Omegaton M2100A1 (L) ZX Sinkadus 0.050 +158 = 1.630 2.985 26.40M 70 5.68
    Bukin's Spare Rifle Omegaton A101 0.789 +131 = 2.099 2.980 57.20M 44 4.59
    S.I. HK110 ZX Sinkadus 0.372 +103 = 1.402 2.974 44.00M 67 4.66
    Ozpyn Chon S1X1 Omegaton A101 0.873 +123 = 2.103 2.974 24.20M 67 6.99
    Bukin's Spare Rifle Adjusted Omegaton A101 0.789 +155 = 2.339 2.971 66.00M 44 5.10
    Ancient Red Scorpion Omegaton A101 1.878 +140 = 3.278 2.968 60.50M 67 10.87
    Sollomate Onyxo (L) Omegaton A101 0.682 +166 = 2.342 2.968 39.60M 44 5.10
    S.I. Scorpion ZX Sinkadus 0.176 +123 = 1.406 2.966 30.80M 83 5.77
    Z12 Barbarella Omegaton A101 0.672 +215 = 2.822 2.955 60.50M 48 6.67
The best gun options are all in the top 4 for economical hunting! Hunting with DPP means you will loot less Shrapnel, however the same could be said about DPS because you are spending less time dealing damage on the mob and receiving damage you'll have to heal up, so the choice is yours.

    Melee Setups

Here is a table of all the best melee setups available for a beginner!
Weapon Name Amplifier Decay Uses DPP Range Hits DPS
    S.I. Psy-Sword Melee Trauma Amp 1 2.809 758 2.969 04.00M 22 3.06
    Maze Hammer Melee Trauma Amp 1 2.817 252 2.961 05.00M 22 3.06
    Castorian Combat EnBlade-B (L) Melee Trauma Amp 1 3.539 550 2.946 07.00M 33 5.73
    Laconian Sword Melee Trauma Amp 1 2.839 411 2.938 04.00M 67 9.31
    Falx Melee Trauma Amp 1 3.809 399 2.919 04.00M 51 9.45
    Labrys Melee Trauma Amp 1 4.289 400 2.917 04.00M 44 9.17
    Castorian EnKnuckles-B (L) No Amplifier 1.202 807 2.891 03.00M 80 4.63
    Falcata Melee Trauma Amp 1 3.389 389 2.871 04.00M 56 9.08
The best melee options are all in the top 4 for economical hunting! As melee items don't allow for you to attach sights and scopes to augment the efficiency rating, hunting with melee long term isn't great. Skilling melee to increase the Strength attribute, and for some health gains for hunting.

    Attachments - Offence

Here is a table of the two best attachments available for a beginner!
Attachment Name Type Quantity Skill Mod Skill Bonus Decay Efficiency
    Longreach 4 Scope 1 15 0.9 0.083 83.00%
    Bullseye 8 Sight 2 24 1.7 0.110 83.00%
    ArMatrix Extender P10 (L) Extender 1 0 0.0 10% 85.00%
Thanks to the changes brought in with Loot 2.0, it is now adviceable to attach the above three items unto your pistol or carbine/rifle to increase the efficiency rating to get back higher returns. This is just another reason to not skill melee, but melee has it's benefits as mentioned above.

    Weapon Efficiency

Here is a table of all the efficiency rating with and without attachments!
Weapon Name Amplifier Eff % Base Eff % Attach Eff % Ext
    Omegaton M2100A1 (L) ZX Sinkadus 65.2% (0.0) 67.9% (2.7) 67.9% (0.0)
    Bukin's Spare Rifle Omegaton A101 65.2% (0.0) 67.3% (2.1) 67.5% (0.2)
    S.I. HK110 ZX Sinkadus 64.8% (0.0) 67.9% (3.1) 68.5% (0.6)
    Ozpyn Chon S1X1 Omegaton A101 64.8% (0.0) 66.9% (2.1) 67.2% (0.3)

    Armour - Defence

Here is a table of the best armour sets available for a beginner!
Armour Name Close Firearms Exotic Durability TT Value DPP
    Harrier Assault, Adjusted 06 03 00 0600 12.00 20.00
    CDF Scout 09 03 00 1800 14.50 20.00
    Pixie, Adjusted 23 00 12 2800 28.60 20.00
    Musca, Adjusted 24 08 03 2800 28.60 20.00
    Rifi Armor ME 25 00 10 2800 28.60 20.00
Due to very recent changes made to armour this aspect of hunting can no longer be ignored. Armour now has an economical rating of 20 damage per pec absored for armour or plate. This is amazing news, as all decay get returned back into the loot but you can hunt without healing!

    Healing - Defence

Here is a table of the best healing tools available for a beginner!
Healing Tool Name Source Heal E/ Heal Decay HPP TT Hits HPS
    Medkit (L) Rocktropia 12.00 12.00 0.500 24.00 00.50 30 06.00
    Refurbished H.E.A.R.T. Rank VI Cyrene 36.00 31.50 1.750 18.00 14.00 20 10.50
    S.I. H.E.A.R.T. Cyrene 14.00 14.00 0.900 15.56 09.00 19 04.43
    Vivo S10 Calypso 19.00 16.63 1.350 12.31 22.00 31 08.59
    10-Pulse Unit Starter Pack 18.00 15.75 1.487 10.59 07.00 24 06.30
The best healing tool which you can obtain from a quest on Cyrene the Refurbished is well worth it. Although it is not as economical as utilising armour against a creature, and provide you with more loots drops which are optimal. Also you'll gain faster evader skills getting hit whilst wearing armour.

    Skill Optimisation

Here is a table of the skills available for a hunting beginner!
    Skill Purpose
Skinning Contributes 35% to all looter prof's (Use attachments to skill faster)
Butchering Contributes 10% to all looter prof's (This skill gets unlocked at level 30)
Perception Contributes 09% to all looter prof's (Pick 1st from quest rewards)
Alertness Contributes 06% to all looter prof's (Pick 2nd from quest rewards)
Anatomy Contributes 07% to all looter prof's (Pick 3rd from quest rewards)
Evade Contributes 25% towards your evader (Use Armour/Plates to skill faster)
Athletics (533/HP) Contributes 14% towards your evader (Pick 1st from quest rewards)
Combat Reflexes (1600/HP) Contributes 11% towards your evader (Pick 2nd from quest rewards)
Courage (320/HP) Contributes 07% towards your evader (Pick 3rd from quest rewards)
Alertness Contributes 05% towards your evader (Pick 4th from quest rewards)
The skills new players should be selecting from their rewards if they want to be a hunter full time are perception and alertness, anatomy can be gained quite easily in comparison to the other skills. Remember that a higher Looter Profession, allows you to receive more loot to help your returns.

    Rings - Miscellaneous

Here is a table of the two best rings available for a beginner!
Ring Name Effect 1 Effect 2 Effect 3 Hand
Ares Ring (L) Reload Speed 4% Critical Chance 0.2% Critical Dmg 4% Right
Ares Ring, Improved Reload Speed 8% Critical Chance 0.6% Critical Dmg 8% Right
Ares Ring, Modified Reload Speed 10% Critical Chance 0.8% Critical Dmg 10% Right
Ares Ring, Augmented Reload Speed 12% Critical Chance 1.0% Critical Dmg 12% Right
Ares Ring, Perfected Reload Speed 14% Critical Chance 1.2% Critical Dmg 14% Right
    Hermetic Ring (L) Run Speed 5% N/A N/A Left
Hermetic Ring, Adjusted Run Speed 8% N/A N/A Left
Hermetic Ring, Improved Run Speed 10% N/A N/A Left
Hermetic Ring, Modified Run Speed 15% N/A N/A Left
Hermetic Ring, Augmented Run Speed 20% N/A N/A Left
Hermetic Ring, Perfected Run Speed 25% N/A N/A Left
For any hunter looking to make hunting their main focus and profession, getting these two rings is a must. The Ares Ring's help with being able to turn over quickly and ensures all kills are as cheap as possible through its effects. The Hermetic Ring's for the best effect is to be used with long-range items.

    Hunting Tips

Here is a table of all the best tips available for a hunting beginner!
Pre Loot 2:0 Hunting Tip Description & Explanation
No. 1 Hunt the lowest maturity mobs, as this will greatly reduce loot volatility.
No. 2 Hunt to be able to kill 3000 mobs, as this'll allow for volatility to even out.
No. 3 Ensure your PED balance can kill 3000+ mobs before complaining of loot.
No. 4 Use armour to begin building up defence skills, it'll be far more beneficial.
No. 5 Ensure that you avoid any over-amping and to reduce any overkill.
No. 6 Once defence skills are up, try to kill mobs before they reach you.
No. 7 Use teams to make kills cheaper on att/def decay and hunt longer.
No. 8 Avoid using melee to skill with, unless you want more strength or hp.
No. 9 Only sell your loot once you've gone through your balance for ammo.
No. 10 You hunt at the highest dpp & dps you can afford to maintain long term.
Post Loot 2:1 Hunting Tip Description & Explanation
No. 1 Use Armour, plates, scope & sights, as all decay gets returned in loot.
No. 2 Use heal only when the mob has been hit for that decay to be recorded.
No. 3 Use a finisher gun that has a low ammo burn to improve your optimal loot.
No. 4 Get your looter profession up and relevant for the mob you're hunting.
No. 5 Use items to increase Focus Blow/Crit Damage for cheaper kills.
No. 6 Use items to increase speed walking backwards for cheaper kills.
No. 7 Prioritise efficiency over damage per pec, as this affects your returns.
No. 8 Reduce any unnecessary actions to stop you dealing damage to mob.
No. 9 Hunting with DPP allows you to loot less Shrapnel and more loot.
No. 10 Hunting with DPS allows you to loot less Shrapnel and more loot.
Try to memorise some of these, they could mean the difference between profiting or not. So ensure to read these and slowly begin to incorporate them into your playstyle so it then begins to build that pattern in your hunting grinds and you will never step a foot wrong and be victorious.

    Welcome to Entropia

Camp Icarus offers a mission to collect the Bukins rifle which is a very fine weapon.

While at Icarus there is also the gauntlet mission that will reward you with 10 ped of UA (universal ammo) and a unlimited healing pack.

I would advice on this path also.

Good luck and welcome to Entropia, keep your budget acceptable for you and you will be fine.
