I would like to become a good guy. Can my ship go from the dark side to the light side if I kill enough bad ships?

I've been reading this old thread you're linking.
Because since the beginning I still can't understand one thing.

Why do ships have karma ?

I mean, ships are just pieces of metal.
They can't have Karma, because they're not capable of making choices.

Karma comes from the fact that you choose to kill this person or that person, or that monster.
Karma should only be linked to an avatar, and certainly not to a ship.

So I still wonder, I guess MA did it for a reason. Did they ?.. :dunno:
And so what purpose ?

Maybe MA is run by AI .. would explain some things.

Initially it was presumed it was to be a deterrent/incentive when it came to the sale of ships. However for warp ships it breaks after each warp, and no one cares that much about little ships to be bothered by their tag.

As for Karma, you would be surprised the amount of people, seemingly smart people too, who see a red tag and think "pirate". I am like a broken record trying to explain that red means opposite, I see all fairs as red for example.

The only thing you can glean from someone's karma tag, is potentially how experienced they are in space. Wether its glorious or dread or something inbetween, you can assume that's someone who has been in space a while and may have high captain.
