got this nice global this time i was abble to take a pic.
I got the same global last night after they updated the servers and you could log in for 3 secs then they died again... looks like the global didnt register the first time. my ammo was even the same before i hunted for thoes 3 seconds :)

Guess we have to say double gratz then :yay:

Have a nice day :)

you was able to keep the loot from the first global too?

Sorry for the necro but this is quite interesting.

Can you clarify what happened?

You managed to logon for a few seconds during server upgrade, killed a mob and globalled on it. Then got disconnected and lost the global. Then when you could get back in, the same mob was there and it gave you exactly the same global?

If that's right its very interesting indeed, with regards to luck and the "whether mobs carry loot or loot is generated at the time of looting" debate.

hmm... i must investigate on this matter as it is quite interesting. big gratz to you btw:D

yes this is correct. was like dayjavou (( spelling?))

Did you happen to get screenies of both globals?

I noticed you mentioned something about not getting one for some reason.

Grtaz for the global and for ur explanation,

Don't take this the wrong way, but were you on acid? jk but seriously, were you? Sometimes on hallucinagens I find I can predict the future with very good accuracy. It scares people then they wont talk to me anymore or wont stop asking me about lotto numbers. Prolly like 100 people now think im some crazy lunitic but fuck it. Time is an illusion but at that same time defines our experience. We do not all experience the same thing at the same time. Sometimes one person experiences it before another does. Othertimes, someone experiences something twice. But prolly ma fucked up and gave us a clue.:eyecrazy:

wtf lol.....nice rezz :revive:

How does something as MASSIVE as this get by with only 12 posts on

If I read this right, and the info posted by Haxtor was correct (and I have no reason to believe otherwise), this COULD mean that loot IS ava assigned.

This would definately need investigation, but HOW ??

Apart from instances like this !!

I know in the past, I've had 2 duplicate globals (exact same items) and never thought anything of it, but this, I suppose could fall into the theory as this.

I not trying to start a conspiracy theory, and I know I'm not stating anything that hasn't been stated before but this deserves it's own thread

Its been quoted a lot elsewhere, just didn't get many posts here ;)

It doesn't really necessarily prove loot is avatar assigned. An equally plausible explanation would be that loot is assigned to mobs before looting, and when the server reset it restarted at a saved point before Moogle killed the allo. Thus the allo was reborn with the same loot it had before.

Agreed Jimmy but it also means that it took over 8 hours (loot is same as last night) to regenerate the mob AND that regeneration be as Haxtor logged on !!

Can't see where you're deducing that.

Seems to me the mob will have reappeared as soon as the server reset and that Moogle was the first to encounter it after the reset. We'd have to research to see how long the servers were down for to tell whether that was a long time for it to go undiscovered or not (and determine where Moogle is, some places the allo could easily be there unfound for 8 hours, some places its pretty unlikely).

I can say for certainty that there is something about an avatar that affects a person's potential for getting globals and HOFs. I've been primarily a hunter since before gold, and it seemed I always had to work 5 times as hard as other friends who joined about the same time as I did, to get good loots. It took me 3 times as long to get my first global, and by the time I got my second, they had 6 or 7. In my entire time of hunting over the past...I dunno...5 years? (I can't remember anymore), I've never had a loot over 1K peds. My best was only about 787 PEDs. Most of my friends have long since had more ubers than I've had HOFs. Noobs that I mentored have long since surpassed by 'best evers'.

I really wanted a ML-35 so I hunted all the mobs I knew that dropped them. I know several people who looted a few in a single hunting session. Me? Hell no, it took me about 2 years to finally get lucky and loot one!

Last night, I decided to hunt Atroxes south of Ithaca. I hunted almost 6 straight hours (I didn't care a diddly about the event, I just wanted a good loot dammit!). Everyone around me that I saw seemed to get a global or three (or half a dozen) during that period. I never got a single one. I don't know how many hundreds of Atroxes I shot. Every minute someone was globalling off them. Not me. (Gee thanks MA for giving me those two Isis guns--in near minimum condition--even better that they're not repairable! Great loots!)

Years ago I was hunting big Armax (providers, guardians, etc.). Back then I had ML-35, MKV and V1 (and smaller stuff). I'd been hunting them for hours and hours. I was shooting this one male provider, he was almost dead, another shot or two and he would have died. At that instant, the game lagged, the screen froze--for about 5 seconds. When it unfroze, I was dead because the Armax killed me as I was unable to shoot, and someone else (an avatar who was known to get big loots) got a major HOF on...you guessed it...male armax provider.

More recently, for the fun of it, I documented how many Atraxes I was hunting in this one area. If I recall correctly, I'd shot over 1200 of them and my best loot was about 40 PEDs only. Several Atraxes were globalling, but never for me. I had just killed an Atrax Old. A few seconds later, someone else got a major HOF (7 or 8K PEDs I believe) on...you guessed it, Atrax Old.

These are just 3 examples of what's been going on for me, since I started hunting 2 weeks before Gold. It's been an endless series of nights of absolute frustration as I hunt several hundred mobs, I can put 'em down almost as good as anyone out there, and I can see certain avatars repeatedly get global after global (even on different mobs in a certain time period) and only extremely rarely experience the same fortune.

My theory is that mobs build up a "global potential". As more and more get shot, they reach a "global trigger" or more infrequently, a "HOF trigger". Each avatar has a something in its coding that gives it a percentage chance of "pulling" that "trigger". Some avatars have statistically impossible luck, others (like mine) are the opposite. The people who play the impossibly lucky avatars just assume they're smarter or better at predicting the loots (or they in fact know an exploit perhaps), but it's all programmed, and IMO I believe their avatars just have a much higher percentage chance of triggering a global or HOF. Granted, the majority of us are just plain unlucky, that's the way a casino works; but EP goes beyond just that. For some people, it's IMPOSSIBLY unlucky. For some people, it feels like you're trying to flip a coin and get "Heads", but after 30 tosses, all you get is "Tails". That's how it feels when I'm hunting.

The one fact I can provide that seems to prove this, is when you see a certain avatar get several globals over a few hour period---from entirely different mobs. Atrox, Longu, Snablesnot globals in a 3-hour period, from the same avatar. Pretty unlikely, eh? Furthermore, I've seen VUs come and go where, for whatever reason, a few avatars are 'flagged' or selected for this statistically impossible luck. For a month or so, you'll suddenly see some avatar name appearing regularly on the global list. It comes and goes.

The loot programming in EU or PE or whatever you want to call it is FAR FAR FAR from random. There's definitely something going on at the avatar level, I just wish one day it'd happen to MY avatar and end my impossibly bad and statistically impossible luck!

There is no such thing as luck (Post 26)

I don't know how it all works, but it's not avatar-related (not saying anything about the skills though)

I think I am cursed in RL. God has it out for me. Everytime I go in for the job interview, someone who is blessed gets it. My lotty tickets never match all the numbers. I have been playing the lottery for years and never won the 160 million dollar jackpot. Several times while I was driving, people hit my car. The system is just biased against me people. Some have all the luck while others just get given everything for free. Some of my friends where born into rich families, I am only upper middle class. Why would someone design a system that is so unfair? It must be made just to frustrate me. lololololololololololololol

I remember I stayed up all night waiting for the servers to come back online. was very excited about the malls at the time was VU 8.8 if im correct.

I was probably the first person to log in :p

Agree. Just look at the HoF's in the past 24 hours: all atrox because -everyone- is hunting them

A certain mob at a certain time. I have experienced this with Hoggs : everyone getting globals, hofs left and right and i get none (less than ammo cylce on ten hoggs).

I cycled about 100k ammo through tsktsks recently. Not even emmo cycle. Never seen a big one hit, yet they're annoying litle fapeaters.

Alternatively, my lasst CNd trip through the berycled pit was very fruitful. I was getting regular loots of 15ped+. I hav hunted warriors getting regular loots at one time, but my last hunting trip the most exciting thing was "thermal plastixs"

The right place at the right time. I don't think it is impossible, i think that you need to find the mob that hits for you e.g. horrible loots everywhere, went hunt some argos near nymph no globals but about 150PED+ from 100PED ammo. at least 4 "30ish" loots.

Every session I will hunt formidon + scips. I have had 1 global 1 hof (small) on the scips, nothing on the formidon. Hunted hundreds of neconu recently... the globals get bigger and bigger each time, but they don't come as often as I would like.

I don't think it's that i am 'luckier' or 'unluckier'. I just have to be disciplined and move to another mob
