EULA changed today...

Hm, MindArk just changed the "conditions of use". They kicked the red two words "or all". The date of the EULA hasnt changed... looks still if it'is from the 2006-04-11.

Can they change the EULA without changing the date of it? (hehe, they can, but is that fair/legal?)

Been there for some time I think.

I have seen it before im sure.

EU Conditions of Use said:
5. Termination
MindArk may terminate this Agreement upon notice to Participant. Such termination may be made without reason, and may be for one or more or all Participants.
[...]

The EULA-Update that just came in (tested it twice) is missing the two bold words. In practise that doesnt mean anything, since "or more" can be the same as "or all" participants. I just dont like contracts to be changed without any notifiying or documentation.

Hm, perhaps PR thought it was said to obvious, that MindArk is able to shut down EU any time at will.

Those two words make all the difference as to sounding like a con or not.
One day the plug gets pulled and everybody looses.
Thats the danger it spells.

Woops , according to that eula i cant even say this.
Nor can anyone ever complain in public if they ever loose everything.
Some fine EULA that is.
It spells : be prepared to get conned.

Bad move.

It is still there when i read the EULA i get when starting the game.

I may have misunderstood. Are you saying the OR ALL is no longer there?

Ahh, Gotta learn to read one of these days :D

In that case the eula has changed. The date should change and all parties should be notified.

I believe it can invalidate the eula if not done. I know with some small software houses this has happened.

The change itself makes little difference but since this has been done and noone has been told it makes MA look very shady and casts questions on if this has been done before.

Bad MA :whip:

This has nothing to do with the EULA. The only scenario when this can happen is when MA goes bankrupt. And than everone loses, no matter what the EULA sais.

i believe u can only consider the EULA you get when actually starting the software.

There it is still the same, what the site says i aint got no bussines with.
When it changes in my game startup eula i consider it gone.

Perhaps they're concerned about the ongoing devaluation of the USD? This has been coming for a long time, and it may only get worse. Central Banks are possibly diversifying large dollar holdings to the Yen and Euro. China (a large investor in T-Bonds) is also diversifying.

""A recent article in BusinessWeek magazine by James Mehring paints a stark picture of the ongoing decline of the U.S. dollar. The dollar has lost 5% against a blend of worldwide currencies just since April, falling to a 12-month low against the Euro and an 8-month low against the Japanese yen. Overall, the dollar fell 28% against other currencies between 2002 and 2004. It then rebounded slightly, but even the cheerleaders in the American financial press cannot shrug off this latest decline.""

If the dollar crashes, so does ME (and lots of other things).

**edited to remove duplication**

Yup, looks like they changed it.

However, it still says "2006-04-11" - which is wrong. And they still have to e-mail everyone about it.

But nothing's changed, it still means the exact same thing.

If: X > 1 then X might as well be all. So rather a useless change, imho. Looks like they've noticed people noticed what it really said. About time, too (that people noticed)... :tongue2:

Dont know what this has to do with the EULA change but i think MA should link the PED to the EURO. THey are an European company after all.

I would no longer be able to afford it, if that happened.

Also not sure why you want to do that you should be getting more for your buck right now
